4.0 out of 5 stars Pro's and Con's, December 8, 2000
By

This review is from: WCW Backstage Assault (Video Game)
Rather than wasting a lot of time and words, here's the pro's and con's of this game. The Pro's - Excellent FUN gameplay, EASY to perform moves, easy to perform finishers. The Commentary is funny and entertaining at times. Being able to customize your favorite wrestlers with whatever moves you like is great, want to see Sting, pull a jackhammer on someone, you can do that. the backstage areas and weapons are fun to use. The Con's - graphics could be way better, they're blocky and some wrestlers don't look very much like thier real life wrestlers. opponents get up, or kick out way too quick after performing a finishing move. Finishing moves aren't exact to thier wrestlers (since when is sting's finisher a sidewalk slam aka the bookend) The Scorpion Death Drop should have been much easier to perform, instead of a rear grapple to do it. EA should watch WCW and write it all down before the next WCW title comes out. The last problem i find is moving around is slow, unless your running. I really liked Mayhem, and this is better, they've got some great trademark moves in here, Nash putting his hands up, before he knees someone in the corner is great. keeping up with times though, it's too bad people like Raven, Randy Savage, and Gorgeous George aren't in this. ... Scott Hall is in this game, you have to beat him to use him. If you like WCW BUY THIS GAME, if your a WWF fan or play WWF games, give this one some time to get used to, the play control is very different.

2.0 out of 5 stars ...and I thought The Grinch was a bad game!, January 7, 2002
By

This review is from: WCW Backstage Assault (Video Game)
I am a huge WCW fan and I am angry and sad because it doesn't come on any more. I love WCW Mayhem by Electronic Arts, and that was their first wrestling game, and this is their second , but it is something that you dig out of a litter box. I don't like this game because there are only about four weapons laying around and when you use a weapon about three times it turns into dust and that makes it impossible to win a first blood match (they're nearly impossible to win with weapons anyways). Also, the backstage areas that you have to wrestle in are smaller than the wrestling ring itself. There are only about two moves that you can do besides punching and kicking and you have to win a match, which is almost impossible, to unlock a new move. It is also very confusing to even start a match on this game. The graphics would look better if you cracked the television screen with a hammer. WCW Nitro is better than this game. Any wrestling game, even on Atari, if they have a wrestling game for it, is better than WCW Backstage Assault. The only thing this game is good for is to keep a fire burning for a couple of extra minutes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Are the game producers that stupid!?, August 10, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: WCW Backstage Assault (Video Game)
When I got this game foy my birthday, I was excited because I had waited a long time. But the long time I waited was for nothing. I mean, come on! You can't even wrestle inside the ring and the gameplay is slow and unreal. Its like wrestling in slow motion! You can unlock wrestlers when you go to gaunlet mode but when your in a match, and your on the verge of unlocking one the wrestlers, the computer immediately changes the difficulty level from easy to hard! That's cheating! I knaw most of the reviews on amazon.com, give this game {if you can call the stupid the that} four or five stars. But please listen to me! If your looking for a good enjoyable wrestling wrestling game, I can give you a list. Trust me, am a big wrestling fan and I play and enjoy the games on this list. WWF Smackdown!, WWF War Zone, And my favorite, WWF Smackdown!2 Know your role
