What this is,
By A Customer
This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Just a quick followup to earlier reviews. The matches listed earlier are from the "Best of Starrcade 1983-1987" 2 tape set that was put out in the 80s. At least that is what I think the other person was alluding to. That's very different than the WCW "best of" series in the late 90s which were a bunch of quick highlight tapes at low prices. I don't know why people buy those little 30-60 minute comps, but they aren't very expensive, so if you want a quick trip down memory lane for a low price, it's not that bad. BTW, the Best of Starrcade 83-87 is quite hard to find, and would probably set you back closer to $$$$$ for an original copy. It is the only way to see in top quality some of the very early Starrcade matches.

Don't be Fooled by Previous Reviews,

This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My Family ordered this tape 3 days ago. The review shown from the unknown parts reviewer listed many matches. These matches are NOT on the video. Matches that are on video are all highlights (hence best of). The total running time of tape is only 60 minutes. Most matches involve Ric Flair (Flair-Race, Flair-Sting, other stars-Piper, Valentine, Rhodes, Blanchard, Magnum TA, Road Warriors)The Briscoes, Steamboat and Youngblood, Midnight Express, Rock N Roll Express etc. are NOWHERE to be seen. The more info. on product failed to provide running time, list of stars included,or specify that matches are HIGHLIGHTS. The cover also does not list stars (only running time). Relying on reviewer's comments led to big disappointment. My advice-keep looking.

WHAT A UNBELIEVABLE SCREW JOB,
By
This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was expecting StarrCade 1983 (Harley Race vs. Ric Flair) to, at the least, StarrCade 1997 (Sting vs. Hulk Hogan). Instead, what we got was an excellent video about StarrCade 1983 to StarrCade 1990. It was a good video, but I still felt ripped off. The video cover is very deceiving by having Kevin Nash and Bill Goldberg on the cover of the video, two men who did not even work for the company from 1983 to 1990. All in all, good video, but it should have contained the ENTIRE history of the NWA/WCW StarrCade.

WRESTLING at it's BEST!,
By A Customer
This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you are going to only buy 1 tape this year, get this one. This is one of the best WRESTLING (not "sports entertainment") tape out there. It's a great tape for people who like wrestling and don't have short attention spans. The matches are great (especailly Magnum T.A. v.s Tully Blanchard in the cage). The only real down fall was they didn't show Dusty Rhodes v.s Flair at Starrcade 84' where he couldn't continue because he was bleeding to much. It does only have 83-90, but there will be VOL. 2 with 91-98 soon. In final, if you want to see a tape with some good ol' time wrasslin', look no further.

Awful Highlight tape ?,

This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I ordered what I thought was a great vhs tape showing;
Dog Collar Match: Greg Valentine vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper Jack and Jerry Brisco vs. Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood Cage Match: Harley Race vs. Ric Flair Tully Blanchard vs. Ricky Steamboat Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes I quit cage match: Tully Blanchard vs. Magnum TA Tag Team Cage match: Ivan and Nikita Kollof vs. The Rock N Roll Express Skywalker match: The Midnight Express vs. The Road Warriors Tag Team Cage Match: Rock N Roll Express vs. Ole & Arn Anderson Cage: Lex Luger vs. Dusty Rhodes, Ron Garvin vs. Ric Flair, Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes all in their entirety and awesome but instead I received a real piece of junk !!! It doesn't show a full match on the tape with it skipping 5 minutes of a match a times. It is nothing but a highlight reel on tape. It is great quality wasted on a tape that is terrible, terrible, terrible !! It should be retired with the now defunct WCW.

I liked ok. The way it is is good, but the #1 thing, that i think, that would probably make it better was if they went from Starrcade 1983 to Starrcade 1998. If this would've taken place, I would have given it 5 and a 1/2 stars!!!!

Miss Elizabeth deserved better...,
By
This review is from: WCW: Best of Starrcade 1983-87 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I didn't know how else to express this about Luger, but here goes.,,While Luger is totally responsible for Miss Elizabeth's
demise, he is not sole culprit. Randy Savage got the ball rolling and in my opinion is even more responsible than Luger. Luger just inherited what was left over from the abuse she suffered at the hands of Savage. Luger and Savage will never be inducted into the wrestling hall of fame and rightly shouldn't be. When I was searching for old WCW tapes awhile ago, I ran across an article from one of the tapes and this person was going off on Luger about what happened to Miss Elizabeth, I should have wrote back then , but I lost sight of where I read this, so now I am hoping this will get around. Luger is a jerk totally, and should be in jail for life, but he should be sharing the cell with Savage. I just wanted to get this off my chest. Also I felt Miss Elizabeth would still be alive today, if she had a life outside of the wrestling arena, she really didn't belong in the wrestling world, she was classy lady who deserved better than savage or luger. |
