Excellent pay-per-view action in December of 1990!

Although the main event is not the greatest match in history, it is a fun surprise to see who is the black scorpion.

Sting said He knew who the Black Scorpion was the moment he locked up with him.

Great to see Danny Spivey return with Sid Vicious to reform the skyscrapers for one more night to get some revenge.

The Horsemen vs. Doom was a great street fight brawl.

Very physical, intense, hard hitting and fast paced. (Unlike other slow dragged out boring matches from other federations claiming to be hardcore)

The Steiner Brothers winning the tournament against internatonal tag team competion was excellent.

This is the Steiners at their finest!

Plus Lex Luger, Sid Vicious, Sting, Stan Hanson, The Steiner Bros., 4 Horsemen, The Great Muta, Doom and other top WCW superstars are showcased in wrestling's first and true annual super event of the year. Starrcade!!! An Event of Galactic Proportions

1990 was some year in Pro Wrestling for both companies. But I'm talking about WCW & Starrcade 1990 The 8th annual Starrcade & final WCW Pay Per View under the governance of The National Wrestling Alliance. Cause shortly after this event all NWA branded champions would be known as WCW Champions with The World title & World Tag Team titles still being recongised by The NWA. After Halloween Havoc on The November 3rd episode of World Championship Wrestling The Black Scorpin asked for a face to face with Sting at The Clash Of Champions XIII. He wanted to give another demonstration of his black magic. On The November 10th episode of World Championship Wrestling Sting was wrestling Bobby Eaton where The Black Scorpion's voice was heard over The PA System. Sting accidently threw Bobby Eaton over the top rope & was disqualified. Then 2 men came down to the ring & tried to beat up Sting. Then on The November 17th episode of World Championship Wrestling The Referee of all people tried to chocke Sting. Finally at Clash Of Champions XIII The Black Scorpion took a guy from the crowd & put him in a cage performed a magic trick & turned him into a Go d D a m n Tiger. Ok Ole what kind of stalker angel is this. I'm 1 of the few who like The Black Scorpion but it should've been done better & the grade school magic show stuff is why people make fun of The Black Scorpion. On some episode of World Wide I don't know the date cause I don't have any of the seasons of World Wide a guy in a hooded sweatshirt attacked Sting. Then on the following episode of World Wide he was cussed out by none ofther than Wendi Reichter. Ok so on The November 3rd episode of World Championship Ric Flair wanted to get himself & Arn Anderson another shot at The NWA World Tag Team Championship. He kept offering money to Thedore Long he kept saying no. Then Thedore Long told Flair if you put your Rolls Royce & 65 foot Yatch on the line then yeah. The following week a package came for Thedore Long but he wouldn't open it. The next week he opened it & it was a Shaffer's Uniform it said that if either Arn Anderson or Ric Flair beat Ron Simmons or Butch Reed not only do The 4 Horsemen get a shot at The NWA World Tag Team Championship but Thedore Long has to be their Shaffer for a day. At Clash Of Champions XIII Butch Reed took on Ric Flair with Flair going over in the match which this match is the only 1 worth seeing on that Clash cause as with most Clash Of Champions in 1990 they were awful except for Clash Of Champions XII. Then on The December 1st episode of World Chmapionship Wrestling Thedore Long was The Shaffer for a day they were going to get Double A at the airport Thedore Long had some guys drag Flair out & I guess beat him up cause it didn't show anything except him being dragged off. Afer losing The NWA US Championship & having it for 17 months Lex Luger wanted it back on The November 24th episode of World Championship Wrestling Jim Herd said that at Starrcade he would get his rematch cause Stan Hansen wasn't going to accept. On The December 8th episode of World Chapionship Wrestling it was announced that the match would be Hansen's specialty a Lariet Match. You also had the announcement of The Pat O' Connor Memorial Tag Tournament fearuring The NWA US Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers for The USA, The Great Muta & Mr Saito for Japan, Jacko Victory & Rip Morgan for New Zeland, Norman Smiley & Chris Adams for England soem guys represnting South Africa as well as Rey Mystero Sr & Konnan for Mexico. At Clash Of Champions XIII Sid Vicious took on The Nightstalker he was attacked by Big Cat & The Motor City Mad Man & Sid's match with The Nightstalker made Botchamania it was a s h i t match. But it set up a 1 night reunion of The Skyscrapers. Mike Rotunda had a family member die kayfabe & he feel into some money he changed his name to Michael Wallstreet Alexandra York became his Admistrative Assistant she would go on to be the future wife of Dustin Rhodes aka Golddust. Ok that's about it the buyrate for this show was a 1.30 the same as last years Starrcade.

Sam Munchnick opened up the event. Then The Mariens had a special cermony cause if you don't know Desert Storm was getting ready to happen. A tape of Starrcade 1990 was being sent to out troops. I bet you'd never expect me to tallk about a world event on 1 of my rasslin reviews.

This could've been a face turn for Vicious & Spivey I mean Sid didn't do much as Horsemen but it's WCW what do expect.

f v c k you ! This should've been Flair & Anderson winning The NWA World Tag Team Championship I agree it was bulls h it like this that killed The NWA. There was never a blow off match but this match & The US title match are 2 of the better matches on the card. But The Horsemen were the most over team of the night except maybe for The Steiner's speaking of which.

Jim Herd went & did a presentation then he went & fired Ole Anderson The Steiner's thanked The Troops.
Then we had a ridicoulous enterance with a GO D D A M N UFO that loweres down. A UFO WTF how do you go from a a guy stalking Sting & sending death threats in videos to magic tricks & UFO's Ole Anderson elplain.
The Scopion's voice was over The PA he said "The 4 men you see are only messengers I am the 1 & only true Black Scorpion HAHA." Oh btw I know The Champion always enters 2nd but wouldn't be better if The Black Scorpion enters 2nd so you know he could play mind games with Sting.

During the match Paul Heyman said that after all these months it could've all been a lie. Sting won then the 4 messengers cmae in The Black Scorpion tried to escape Arn Anderson & Barry Windham came down knocked Dick The Bruiser out Anderson & Windahm beat the he' l l out of Sting. It isn't too hard to figure out who The Black Scorpion is the fans figured out in about a minute they yelled Nature Boy. Ricky Morton & Tom Zenk tried to make the save the cage was locked they tried to climb it but Barry Windham stopped them. The Steiner Brothers cae down with bolt cutters. Sting pulled the mask off & OMG it's Ric Flair. I take back what I said about Halloween Havoc being the weakest event of WCW had in 90. I know people didn't like Starrcade 89 but still that atleast had some good wrestling on iit. Ole Anderson was fired. He created the gimmick cause in a shoot interview which that shoot is horrible he said that Herd didn't like the matches he put together so he wrote down Sting vs The Black Scorpion Herd didn't get that it was a joke. It was originally suppose to be Al Perez buth he quit & honestly that would've been worse than Ric Flair raeally Al Perez. Then it was The Angle Of Death. They wanted Barry Windham Flair did it caue it would've hurt Barry Windham Flair did right thing imo he said that it would've left him in a bit of conterversry. I'd rather have seen The Black Scorpion be Nikita Koloff you could've had Paul Jones come back. Sting & Nikita fueded in 91 anyway. Ole blames Dustty I'm like Dusty was in The WWF you j a c k
a s s. Dusty Rhodes has done a lot & I mean A LOT of cheesy bad booking. But it's better than Ole's. I give props to Ric Flair for changing his move set he tried to he really, really did. He did look pretty meancing in the mask. Starrcade 1990 is decent no more than I can't say it's something you should check out right away.

Man don't be a mark and pay even 15.00 for this old tape. The guy selling it must have went out and bought them all from the local Video Shack. Anyhow I was at the show and it was really good, but I am not endorsing some crackdiculous price for a wrestling vid. out

It's actually bizarre to think what the NWA COULD have been in 1990, if Ric Flair, Jim Ross and Ole Anderson hadn't wielded so much power. The "Main Event" here sees Sting take on a masked mystery man called "The Black Scorpion" who everybody knew was Flair, for the World Title. The only real suprise here is that Flair loses. But fear not boys and girls, he won the belt back 2 weeks later. Lex Luger, the most popular wrestler at the time, goes up against the horribly old and out-of-shape Stan Hansen for the US Title in a strap match. The Horsemen battle Doom in a heatless Tag Title Match, and most disgustingly of all, there is an "international tag team tournament" where various Americans pretend to be from other countries, en route to the Steiner Brothers' inevitable win. Thankfully, within 6 months, Flair and Anderson would both have been fired from their respective jobs.
