This is a heavier oil than WD40; it leaves an oily coating that becomes sticky. That's fine where we need it (machine shop) and it's easy enough to remove with solvents or original WD40 and a rag. My gripe is that, for some reason, they thought it would be wise to put 100 PSI of propellant in the cans (I know, I'm exaggerating, but geees), forcing all of the oil to be violently blasted out in a matter of a few seconds. So, overspray is ridiculous, and you lose a lot of what you paid for because you can't aim a wild, overpressurized blast. Maybe they want you to run out quickly and buy more... The can is also fairly small, so after paying a premium for it, I feel cheated. I probably won't be getting this in the future; there are better options at better prices.

I cleaned a large steel bolt with a wire wheel to test this product. Treated part of the bolt with the spray and left the rest untreated. After a couple of day outside (with heavy dew and some rain), rust began to form on the untreated part. The treated part was still rust free. After a couple of weeks of exposure with much rain, the treated part began to show small signs of rust. The untreated part was almost completely covered with rust.

Unfortunately, it leaves a very sticky residue that will attract dirt, etc. (Would make a good fly-trap.) The stickiness didn't dry up or "cure" after several days. I tried another test by lightly wiping a fresh application of the spray. The test area rusted about as quickly as the untreated area.

Conclusion - if a sticky surface isn't a problem for your application - go for it.

I used this on my ATV and my motorcycle when I packed them away before winter on all of the exposed metal parts which could corrode in the hopes that I wouldn't come back to find them all rusted. When I finally opened up my storage last week, there was no rust (at least on the ATV and the bike). This stuff stood up very well to storage in a dark damp place.

Mind you there was NO abrasion on the sprayed parts, they were sprayed as they went into storage, so I can't attest to how well it would do on parts in use. I plan to find that out when I take my first off road run this year in my ATV.

I bought a bicycle at Walmart and live in Florida where there is a lot of rainy days. After one week some rust had already appeared.
I used the WD-40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant Spray and all the rust disappeared. Then to protect my bike from rust I used the WD-40 Specialist Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor Spray. Now my bike is completely rustproof.

I'v use this product for 2 years on my truck where rust is visable and the rust has been at bay, when I baught this truck I knew I had to take it to a body shop and have rust repair. I spent $1800.00 on rust repair, "got good deal on truck" unfortantely some of the areas the body shop didn't touch that I asked them to they faild. I found corrosion inhibiter at Walmart and put it to the test. THIS PRODUCT WILL STOP RUST FROM GROWING!

Only time will tell how well this does inhibit rust--but I tend to trust the WD-40 brand so I'm willing to wait and see. I used this on part of my "Hidden Hitch" that is rusting pretty bad. I also intend to use in on my adjustable basketball stand.

Tested this WD 40 Long Term spray out today. First off it does not smell like WD 40 in the least. Goes on exactly like lithium grease spray. Has that translucent white creamy look on wherever you spray it. I can tell you right now this stuff is going to be a dust and dirt magnet. Even when you wipe it off it still is sticky / tacky. Being as thick as it is it will no doubt inhibit rust. The odor is much less apparent than using actual WD 40 if that is an issue. Make note of the size of this can as it is very small. I was thinking that it would be the size around a standard WD 40 arisol can, but it is half that size and slim. Like the size of a small rem oil or braak free can. Its cheaper anywhere else than online.

Used this on my car that had a little rust on it. Rear fenders and rocker panels, seemed to attract more dirt and moisture than expected. Dirt got underneath more paint than i wouldve liked and actually increased the rusting process. Its been about a year since i put it on and its still very greasy and rusty. I wouldnt reccommend using it on your vehicles. The grease should repel any rust if it is indoors though. I wish i wouldve waited to use this until there were more reviews on it. Imo its better to keep applying regular wd when it evaporates rather than trying to get more out of 1 can. Makes cars look like crap
