Product Description

The WD-40 multi-use spray is sized for industrial use and contains 16 oz. of lubricant that can be applied to almost any item to reduce friction and protect metal from rust and other corrosion. With over 2,000 documented uses, WD-40 is also commonly used to loosen stuck metal parts, remove grease and grime, silence squeaky components, and displace water to remove moisture from electrical systems. Even after the lubricant has dried, it continues to protect surfaces from corrosion. The lubricant’s petroleum base permits use on most materials, excluding polycarbonate and clear polystyrene. The aerosol canister contains 16 oz. of lubricant for heavy use in industrial applications. Its nozzle dispenses the lubricant in a fan spray for quick application over large areas. The detached straw can be inserted into the nozzle to create a precision stream of lubricant for controlled application and fastens to the notched cap for secure storage when not in use.

Industrial lubricants can be found in most machinery performing one or more functions, including reducing friction and wear, preventing components from adhering to each other, distributing loads more evenly, dispersing heat away from moving parts, and preventing corrosion. Although many materials are used as lubricants, the most common are oil (also called fluid lubricants) and grease because of their versatility. Oil lubricants contain either a petroleum or synthetic base, the properties of which are modified by the addition of various additives. Grease lubricants, a mixture of oil lubricant and a thickening agent, have a thicker consistency than oil, enabling use wherever liquids cannot be retained and requiring less frequent changes.

WD-40 manufactures lubricants, and household and industrial cleaners. The company is headquartered in San Diego, CA.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Stuff March 3, 2010
By A. Levy

So, on a whim, I thought -- "Ya know, I've got some really hard to move, stuck all the time, old wooden drawers in a built-in cabinet. I wonder if WD-40 would do the trick." Of course, since these days, I buy almost everything on Amazon, I just popped over to the computer and made the purchase. Two days later, I was spraying WD-40 on these wooden drawers, and - holy canoli - they slide like ice now! Here's the real question - what can't WD-40 be used for?

By the way, this is a BIG container of WD-40. I'll just have to find more things to spray.

I just needed some WD to replenish our household supply. So instead of making a run to the store, I bought this one. I didn't realize that it was twice the size I usually get for just about the same money! GREAT DEAL, THANKS!

WD-40 has been a favorite multi-purpose problem solver in American households for over 50 years, and it is one of those products that I wouldn't want to be without. My Grandpa had his can and my Grandma had hers; so did my Dad and Mom and so, now, do my husband and I. The knowledge of its many uses has been handed down generation after generation and there is even an official WD-40 Fan Club that lists over 2000 uses for WD-40.

WD-40 cleans, lubricates, and protects against corrosion and among many other uses you can:
*Use it on bikes and tools.
*Use it to lubricate locks, hinges, & all moving parts.
*Use it to loosen and penetrate rusted or stuck bolts and plumbing joints.
*Use it to remove grease, gum, rubber cement, and dirt
& MY PERSONAL FAVORITE:
*Use it to remove scuff marks on flooring.

FYI-
WD-40 was developed in 1953 by Norm Larsen, founder of the Rocket Chemical Company, in San Diego, California. WD-40, shortened from "Water Displacement, 40th formula," was originally designed to repel water and prevent corrosion but was later found to have many household uses.

INGREDIENTS: Aliphatic Hydrocarbon (40-50%), Petroleum Base Oil (25%), LVP Aliphatic Hydrocarbon (12-18%), Carbon Dioxide (2-3%), Non-Hazardous Ingredients (10%)

WD-40 is manufactured by WD-40 in San Diego, CA, USA

Works like a charm. I used it on my bike, jammed locks, door hinges. The effect lasts a long time too. If it doesn't work try leaving overnight after spraying generously.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's just what it is industrial! April 3, 2014

It lubricates the parts that is mentioned on the can but, don't spray too much because it stinks like roach spray and it can turn your stomach or can give you a headache. I suggest when spraying unless it's your car do it outside your home the smell won't be as strong.
