5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, Practical and Economical
First of all, who would have thought that a product name WD-40 will become a household name? It is a terrible name. It is almost impossible to remember such a name unless they did something right. WD-40 is a great product! Just do a search for the list of uses for WD-40 and you'll be amazed. Only a list of what Chuck Norris can do can top that.

And this is now...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok-Ok
This product was purchased with the intention removing the crayon marks on wall done by my son. Its hard to scrub through with pen on the curved wall surfaces. Also it left marks even though I washed with soap water.

And this is now my favorite WD-40. I probably have bought 5 or more cans in different sizes in the past; all of them got lost before I finished them. For occasional users, this is the perfect size. It has a felt tip that releases a drop every time you push the pen down. No mess! In the past, I used the spray cans and it goes all over the place. This is a very convenient way of dispensing the content. It even has a stripe of transparent window so you can see how much is left - clever idea.

For larger areas of application, you should stick with the spray cans.

Won't use anything but the WD40 pencil. No gravity problem because the applied pressure releases the lubricant no matter what direction the pencil is being held.

Yes - the tip does get dirty but that's OK because the pencil still works. I use a paper towel to wipe the item I'm working on such as a squeaking door hinge.

The bottom line is it does work in any position dirty tip and all.

5.0 out of 5 stars WD- 40 Quality in Convenient Form, August 23, 2010
This review is from: WD-40 No Mess Pen (Pack of 2)
WD- 40 No Mess Pen is an excellent, convenient product from the best- known name in household lubrication. WD- 40 has been stopping squeaks and protecting metal for decades and given its usefulness, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned about the WD- 40 No Mess Pen. I was completely confident it would be just as good as regular WD- 40. The only area in which I had some slight reservations was with application and possibly running out of lubricant, given the small size of the package. Would the WD- 40 pen make the grade? Would there be any problems?

Well, now that I have used the WD- 40 No Mess Pen, I can understand why WD- 40 decided to manufacture such a product and I can understand why it has received such rave reviews from so many different people. The main reason is convenience. With such a small, thin pen, you can take your WD- 40 No Mess Pen anyplace you like. Not only is this product convenient, it is also very effective provided consumers use it in the intended way. When I say the intended way, what I am talking about is the size of the pen and the limited amount of lubricant. This was a concern from the start and it remains a concern. Each pen contains only about a quarter ounce of lubricant, so it cannot and should not be used for larger jobs. But for smaller jobs, the WD- 40 No Mess Pen is just right. In fact, it is actually more economical for smaller jobs because the larger can often results in excess lubricant spewing out- far more than actually needed.

WD- 40 No Mess Pen releases small amounts of liquid whenever the tip is pressed against a surface. The liquid will release itself even if the pen is turned upside down. All you do is press the tip against a surface and rub back and forth to release just the right amount of lubricant. The fact that so little lubricant is released is good, because there is only about a quarter- ounce of lubricant to work with, so you need to use this only for smaller tasks and use it sparingly.

In summary, WD- 40 No Mess Pen is a convenient version of an excellent product and it makes a great choice when you need only a small amount of lubricant to complete the task at hand. It does cost more per ounce than the large WD- 40 can, but with convenience and results like this, it is easily worth the small outlay of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars squeaky doors, no more, August 23, 2009
This review is from: WD-40 No Mess Pen (Pack of 2)
Squeaky doors never bothered me. However, once my son was born every little noise ruined his naps (and my downtime.) Enter the WD-40 No-Mess Pen.

The pen makes it easy to oil door hinges. Within 30 seconds of application, the door hinge is silent. The oil does a good job of penetrating from the exterior of the hinge to the interior, noisy portion.

I'm still getting the hang of the pen, but each hinge ends up with a dab of oil running down the outside. Keep a paper towel handy until you get some practice applying the oil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great idea and works well, May 11, 2009

I have kept one of these around for the last few years and find it invaluable. Everyone who sees me use it wants it for themselves! I did laugh when I read another review that complained about gravity; uh, then use the spray can. Obviously, the pen is not meant for all uses but neither is the spray can. I find having one of each meets every need I have for WD-40. I also do not have any problem keeping the tip clean. If I had any complaint, it would be that when pressing the tip to release the oil, it comes out a bit faster than one might expect. However, you learn that after the first use, or by reading this review. haha Seriously, works well and at a good price.

These pens are Excellent. There is no mess and no overspray. I can put the oil directly on the work area without it getting all over the place. My only problem with these are that people tend to pick them up and walk off with them. Therefore I've had to order several, but they are well worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drys Out Far Too Soon!, January 1, 2012

I kept a few of these in my garage drawer, and they seemed like a good idea. However, even with the cap on, all three have

completetly dried out after a few months, and no way to refill the reservoir.

Back to the spray version and Q-tips! I won't be buying anymore of these.

I gave 2 stars only because initially, they are convenient, otherwise would have been only 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars motorcycle maintenance, September 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WD-40 No Mess Pen (Pack of 2)
I find these pens to be irreplacable for motorcycle detailing and maintenance. Cable ends with threaded connectors often get a film of rust in the threads. One swipe with a WD-40 pen and you can treat exsisting rust or provide a film that protects through that chance rain shower. The inside of allen bolts can hold moisture and rust, just dab each allen head inside the hex head and no rust accumulates. Yes you can use a spray can but overspray can drip on chrome or paint and strip wax off the paint job. Also that little ridge between spoked wheel rims and the spoke nut. Any of those moisture holding little corners can be treated and you won't believe the results. I live 4 blocks from the ocean and only wash my bike with rust encouraging water when I get stuck behind a leaking garbage truck or other source of gunk that requires soap. Mostly I use a carnuba wax based spray cleaner and the WD-40 pen.
