2.0 out of 5 stars This died less than 6 months after buying it
I loved this USB drive when it was working. It provided lots of storage and quick access time. However, even after safely removing it each time and taking care of the drive, it went bad. I have not been able to salvage the date. Western Digital offered to replace it if I sent it back but that doesn't help me much with the data loss. I also don't want to pay shipping to...

I loved this USB drive when it was working. It provided lots of storage and quick access time. However, even after safely removing it each time and taking care of the drive, it went bad. I have not been able to salvage the date. Western Digital offered to replace it if I sent it back but that doesn't help me much with the data loss. I also don't want to pay shipping to send it back with my data possibly still on it and then have to worry about the replacement going bad as well.

This drive worked great as long as it worked -- and then suddenly it stopped working. None of the troubleshooting or support on the manufacturer's site helped -- and I cannot get this replaced since Western Digital India does not stock this product. I bought this on a visit to the US.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Product Ever Made, July 20, 2009
This review is from: WDXMS1600BN Western Digital Passport Portable USB 160GB Hard Drive (Personal Computers)
I'm appalled that Western Digital is creating such a bad product. Drive worked just long enough for my to load all my itunes and other files on it, delete them from my harddrive then lose them all when the product failed to do it's main function of safely storing my data. WD has no warranty for data recovery for your files, and the replacement drive they sent me also didn't work with my computer. I'm not even sure it's worth giving a third replacement drive a shot. Do not buy this product!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute garbage, January 13, 2009

Absolute garbage. I've had two out of three of these go bad. WD makes some of the worst drives I've ever seen. Don't go anywhere near these. Garbage.
