4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and effective at trapping particles from coming out your vents or falling into your vents.
These filters do exactly what the package claims: "Helps trap dirt, dust, smoke, and pollen size particles." They are not HEPA filters and do not claim to remove all allergens or dust. But it definitely helps, and I figure it can't hurt, especially at a price this low - around $.33/filter!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
I bought these on the advice of my husband's allergist. We put them in all our registers, expecting it to cut down on the dust. Didn't happen - there's been no difference in the amount of dust in our house and no difference in my husband's symptoms. These aren't expensive but not worth the time or trouble.

The filters are easy to install, just remove your vent cover and insert the filter from the bottom. They can be cut to achieve a good fit. After 90 days or so, they can be carefully removed and you will see lots of dust and particles trapped in the filter, on both sides. This system is as effective at keeping particles out of your HVAC system as it is for keeping the system from spreading dust through your home, so I leave them in year round, even though we do not need to use our system in the summer months, just to prevent dust and dirt from entering the ducts. Last summer we did some renovation work. After running the system in the winter after the project, I found that the vents captured a lot of sawdust that had found it's way into the HVAC system. I'm glad these filters were in place - otherwise that sawdust would be spread around my home right now.

You can even reuse the filters, lowering cost of use to near $.15 or even lower - just wash them thoroughly with water, hang dry, and replace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for window vents, March 17, 2009
This review is from: Vent Register Filters (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use these vent filters in my window vents, which I made from plastic floor registers, placed sideways into a window, then close the window down on top of the registers. I used a strip of foam insulation along the top of the registers to make a good seal. I put three of these vent filters into each open plastic register, and by placing them in the window I get ventilation and the three filters take out all pollens and dust. I change the filters about every three months. They have been very successful for getting fresh air into the house, without dust or allergens.

I have in-floor vents and a problem with things falling into them. I have noticed a reduction of dust and miscellaneous particles (cat hair) since I installed these vent filters and think they work very well.

These don't really stay in the vent I have to tape them on. I've only used them for a few days & cannot state if they really work keeping down the dust. But, I think fragrance ones would be nice. After these are finished I will probably go back to using Bounce in the vents as I think they probably will do the same thing but with a fragrance, & cheaper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make a huge savings by purchasing online with Amazon, January 28, 2012

Don't just take my word for it check it out for yourself. Due to the cost of energy I have installed a wood burning furnace to reduce my winter cost, there are disadvantages from this but cleanup can be kept to a minium by using vent filters in your registers. I checked the cost of these filters at a local hardware and came home to my computer to compare these cost,I checked several sites and found Amazon had the same quality filters at a reduced cost and much lower than the other sites I checked. I have ordered enough filters to get me through the winter and saved a bundle doing so. Thanks Amazon I have found this not only to be a fact with the filters but many other items I purchace through your online store.
