Biography

Everybody is a freak in one way or another.
We all possess those idiosyncrasies and quirks that make us a little strange, whether it's an odd proclivity or an offbeat fascination. In fact, that's the one thing the entire world shares in common. Hence, the title of Hinder's fourth full-length album for Republic Records, Welcome to the Freakshow.

Editorial Reviews

2012 album from chart-topping Oklahoma City hard rockers Hinder. The album was co-produced by drummer Cody Hanson and Marshall Dutton in a hometown studio. Instead of simply sticking to a tried and true formula, the group decided to smash boundaries, experimenting with rock, pop and even a little country. The resulting 11 tracks are intoxicating in the best way possible.

Been a Hinder fan for years and the new album did not disappoint. There's a good variety of songs - some rock ballads, some harder hits. Hinder is a breath of fresh air in today's junk music lineup. You can tell their roots come from the greats - Aerosmith, AC/DC, GNR, etc. Great job guys - Keep it up!

Welcome to the Freakshow is Classic Hinder. There is no major deviation from the solid rocking of the first three albums, which are all unique, but make a solid style that Hinder continues to build off. Yes, this album is probably filled with the most ballads that Hinder has put on one single album, but that isn't necessarily bad, considering the straight up rocking songs are generally a punch in the mouth. Most of the slower songs are really a collaboration between rock, pop, and a mix of country. There is a background of piano or acoustic guitar in more than half of them, and at times this can become somewhat mellow. But directly following a slow song they bring the power back with a great rocking song. It makes for quite a mix of styles and speeds for a great album, especially if you are a big fan of their breakout singles like Lips of an Angel and Without You. It isn't quite as good overall as 5/5 All American Nightmare, but the difference to the rest of the 3 albums produced is an interesting and welcomed variance.

I will say I was disappointed with one song in particular - Freakshow. I have NEVER compared Hinder to Nickelback, but this song sounds like it is straight off of a Nickelback album.

Overall Album: 4.25/5

Best Songs: Save Me, Talk To Me, I Don't Wanna Believe, Wanna Be Rich

Hinder seems to be on the bell curve for me. I enjoyed "Extreme Behavior" quite a bit and liked the change in their sound on "Take it to the limit". I thought that "All American nightmare" was their best work it reminded me of what a rock album used to sound like. With "Welcome to the freakshow" it really feels like they took a step backwards to me. I still enjoyed it but it was a definite let down after how much I enjoyed the previous album.

I love love love Hinder and this CD is so far, disappointing. It has a lot of sad sappy songs, which im not into. I like fast pace and rock n roll music. I felt like I was listening to a teenage girls diary...

I've loved Hinder for about 7 years, ever since they released Extreme Behavior. It quickly became one of my all time favorite cds, I love every song on that album. I have every Hinder cd after that and I just bought this latest cd. I thought Welcome to the Freakshow would be a little harder rock, but it's not. To me it sounds a lot more like pop music, with a little country thrown in sometimes. Even the lyrics are just about the same as all the other songs. There's one song called Is It Me, it's so pop sounding it's ridiculous, I think the beginning of it is terrible, it picks up a little after that. But it's so pop sounding, not like Hinder at all. This cd is ok, Extreme Behavior or All American Nightmare were their best cds though.

This is a great album of songs that any fan of Hinder should add to their collections. Just about every track is a hit and with the bonus MP3 album included you cannot beat the price.
