Can't Be Without It,
By Daisy (Top of the World) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
Like a lot of other reviewers of Wen products, I've been moaning and complaining about the cost of this product line. Well, let me tell you how I finally learned my lesson:
I'd been using this haircare line for about 6 months. I had started with the combo offered in the infomercial & moved onto the Tea Tree about 4 months ago, after reading reviews that it is the best "flavor" for my hair type (very dry hair with oily/itchy scalp that tends towards dandruff). I've loved Wen since about week 2 with the product due to the following: (a) my scalp issues were resolved, (b) my hair seemed healthier after about a week, (c) I had stretched my last cut & color out to 10 weeks since the color still seemed shiney (I have jet black hair & my color is added only to warm up the tones from a blue-black to a brown/red-black - there isn't that much of a difference between my natural hair color and my color-treated color)& my ends looked fine. However, a few weeks ago, as I neared the bottom of my latest bottle of Wen Tea Tree, I started questioning how incredibly expensive it was after I realized how quickly the bottle had been used...so I didn't order a new bottle before I ran out. I decided to go back to my old Aveda Color Conserve line in order to save some money. Within 2 days, (a) my itchy scalp was back AND (b) the shine was gone in my hair color, leaving it dull and lifeless looking AND (c) you could see exactly where the new hair growth ended and the color-treated hair began! It was disgusting! I immediately ordered a new bottle of Wen Tea Tree & scheduled a hair appt. I just hope that the Wen gets here by the time my appt comes around... I guess the bottom line is that you have to consider not only the fact that you get both cleanser & conditioner in one product AND that your hair will look better, but also that you will be able to stretch out the time between cut/color appts. I used to have to go every 6 weeks or so, but could stretch it to about 10 with Wen. Each appt is about $200 for me, so that's how I'm justifying continuing with this product.

I believe this is the 2nd product review I have written in my life which should tell you it really takes a lot for my brain to start spinning and my fingers to start typing. I purchased Wen TT about 2 months ago and from Day 1 it was a miracle...definitely made me a believer in all of the hype. The product is definitely expensive but when you really put it in perspective, the price is worth it. I typically make a point of reading all the reviews and came across a review claiming Hair One is extemely comparable and much cheaper. I'm the type of person that sticks with something after good results so I typically will not stray however, I ran out of Wen and even with Expedited shipping, i was going to be a few days without it...instead of going back to shampoo i decided to go to a local Sally's to pick up the Hair One for the interim. Let me tell you...if you have used Wen, Hair One is NOTHING like it. If you read the product ingredients, Wen has aloe vera gel as one of the main ingredients....Hair One has NO aloe vera gel in it. Hair one has a very stiff consistency and not moiturizing in the very least. The smell is very similar but that is the only comparison. Had i tried Hair One initially, I would have gone straight back to shampoo but knowing what Wen has done to change my hair for the best, next time I will make sure that I never run out of stock. I hope this review changes some of your minds...don't waste your money on Hair One. I'm in no way affiliated with eiter product - just a person trying to help a few out there from wasting your time and/or money. Wen is the way to go.

When I first started using Wen, it was after a horrific experience with a bad hairdresser who straightened my hair with the wrong products. I'm European by background and the hairdresser used a straightener on me meant for African American hair, which is much stronger than European hair. Let's just say the damage was horrific, my scalp had a huge scab on my whole head and my very long hair had 8 inches of damage! I was horrified and depressed over the damage because my hair could break at a long length. I changed hairdressers to a place in Munster, Indiana called "Active Art Salon." They were so good to me and said: "Well, we know you love the length of your hair, so rather than cut the damage off, we're going to ask you to use this Wen shampoo/conditioner until everything is back to normal." Two years after and lots of TLC, my hair was back to normal with all the damaged parts gradually cut off and it looks gorgeous!
What is great about Wen is the fact that it is extremely gentle and is more a cream than the usual gel that you see. It's very easy to use and my hair always is fantastic when I dry it. After wetting your hair, you pump into your hand how much you want (and keep in mind you don't have to put TOO much in your hair, but enough to saturate it, so go by your own discretion rather than the directions) and just slather it through. Dip your head back into the shower for a second and add more water, massage more and then leave on for a few minutes while you take care of the rest of your shower. Rinse, and you're done. Seems too good to be true? It really is that good! Build up with this product is almost impossible (but if you do put it on too heavy, for a long time, you might get a bit of a build up, which can be remedied easily.) I will usually grab my husband's shampoo once a month and since regular shampoo has heavy detergents it will easily take off the build up without stripping the hair of essential oils. Return to the Wen application and voila! Soft as silk once again. You can also use a little half pump to just run through your hair after the shower (just a bit!) if you have drier hair than most people and comb it through as a leave-in conditioner. Dry and style. Works best this way in the winter. It's just a nice, clean hair conditioner/cleanser. I have been using Wen since 2004 and have not gone back to typical shampoos and conditioners. It is more expensive than store-bought shampoos but those conditioners are usually full of a lot of wax to coat your hair and make it a mess. This stuff is way cleaner, more gentle and quick and easy to use. As for the different scents, they're not just scents but different mixtures for different hair types. I've experimented with all of them and ended up using the Tea Tree conditioner the most. I believe that it's the most common to buy. Look for Chaz Dean's website with the extensive products, because he has two of them, to explain which is what and determine your hair type and which one to use. This is a great product and I highly recommend it! I've been using this stuff since way before the infomercials came out and I won't go back! 5 Stars!

I purchased the Wen Tea Tree conditioner in the 32oz after falling in love with the Almond Mint conditioner. In receiving the first order, the handy catalog they included in my first order gave information on recommended hair types for each product "flavor". I found the Tea Tree conditioner to be much heavier and it seemed to dull my thin blonde hair and not wash out completely no matter how long I rinsed. The Tea Tree "flavor" felt drier, waxier on my hands and in my hair where as the Almond Mint actually melted in my hands and hair. In the catalog it suggests purchasing the Tea Tree for thinning hair, however I would have to disagree. If you're trying this product for the first time, try the Almond Mint and if you can get it in the 32 oz, pick it up over the other flavors. You really will love your hair after just one cleansing treatment. While I'm dissatisfied with this purchase, I still believe it's a great product.

SHIPPING AND HANDLING TOO HIGH,
This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
The product is a good one, however I paid almost $9.00 for shipping and handling. I will soon be forced to look for another product that doesn't have such a tariff on its goods.

Wenn You Have Long Hair Like I Do,
By Laura Christine "Jewel of Zion" (Toledo, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
This is the first tea tree oil hair product I have used that actually seems to have a medicinal quality for a challenged scalp. Perhaps there is some synergy with some of the other ingredients, but I can actually feel it working on my scalp.
Better yet, this is the first cleanser/shampoo I have used that TRULY does not strip my color. Sure, a lot of products make that claim, and usually falsely so so far as I am concerned. Even when I used other sulfate-free shampoos I still lost color. Not so with Wenn. Of course, this product is pricey. When your hair is as long and thick as mine is, is it cost-effective to use something this expensive from root to tip? My approach is to use it just on my scalp, which is where I need the medicinal benefit anyway. On a whim I tried using a bargain-brand conditioner on the rest of my hair and it turned out nearly as well as it did when I tried using nothing but Wenn. I should add that my hair is quite dry in the first place, which may help explain how my ends end up clean and non-greasy despite using conditioner only. As I am showering, some of the Wenn from my scalp does seem to work its way down, so perhaps I am getting some fringe benefit from the Wenn on the rest of my hair. I am glad I tried this "half and half" approach, because when you have as much hair as I do it really would be an expensive proposition to use Wenn only.

A MUST-HAVE FOR THE BEST HAIR EVER,
By
This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
I have been using WEN for years. These are truly amazing products. Can you imagine thoroughly cleansing and conditioning your hair in one single swipe? It sounds too good to be true, right? WRONG! Chaz Dean accomplished something others said was impossible to do...he created cleansing conditioning products without all the bad stuff, including phosphates, harsh chemicals and other things that are not that good for hair. Most of the ingredients in his products are derived from natural sources such as Rosemary Oil, Aloe Vera, lot of herb oils, etc. I could write here all those wonderful ingredients but it would take too much space. The best way you can find out about his products is to try one. For dry hair, use the Fig; for scalp issues, try the Tea Tree; for normal hair the best is Sweet Almond Mint. I adore the Tea Tree because I have a dry, itchy scalp problem.
He has come out with some new products but I bought so many of his earlier products that the only one I have bought since is that wonderful Tee Tree. I called Chaz Dean's Studio not long ago inquiring about a facial cleanser. The lady I spoke with said all of them use his Body Cleanser. Hurray! He's done it again. Chaz is a very creative person. I absolutely beleive that once he puts his mind to something he'll get it done. He had many critics when he began creating his products. I would imagine that when his critics found out about his success, they probably were like unhappy dogs - tucking their tails between their legs, whimpering. He has a lot of famous friends such as Halle Berry, Chloris Leachman, Paula Abdul, Tippi Hedren (famous star of Alfred Hitchcock's thriller movies,)just to name a few. Actually he is a celebrity in his own rite. You'll never know until you buy one and give it a good test. Just remember that you don't treat this product like shampoo - it doesn't foam. But you'll love the difference. It feels creamy/silky, smells clean and your scalp tingles like you can feel it working. One of the many benefits of using his cleansing conditioners is that if you have your hair colored, there is no fading and the color will last longer. You'll save money since you won't have to go to your salon as often. Plus all his products have healing properties. If you have split ends, have them cut off, then use one of his products. No more split ends. There is a special way to use WEN products. Instructions and tips are enclosed with the order. If you order one (or more) and the instructions are not in the box, google his many web sites and call them. I'm sure they'll be happy to help you out. People of color love these products because frizz and tight curls transform into smoothe, soft curls. If you want straight hair, no problem. One final thing - using his products consistently will make your hair healthier than is has ever been. I promise, and so does Chaz. I believe he has a 60-day money back guarantee. So what do you have to lose?

Expensive but worth the price,

My husband has had terribly dry skin forever. He has seen doctor after doctor and none of them could seem to give him a product that would help the problem. The last Dermatologist he saw gave him several steroid creams but warned him prolonged use of these products could cause further problems with his skin. Then we saw an infomercial for Wen Cleansing Conditioners and decided to try them. The Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner is truly a miracle in a pump bottle. He uses it on all of his facial hair, beard, mustache and eyebrows, as well as his scalp and his extreme dry skin is gone. He no longer has dry scaly patches under his eyebrows, mustache or beard and his scalp is smooth and dandruff free.
I read the reviews on Amazon before we ordered this product and was skeptical of the glowing praise of the Conditioning Cleanser. Had I not seen the difference in my husband skin with my own eyes honestly I never would have believed the product could work so well. This stuff is for real.

Great Stuff,

This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
I have 3a/3b hair which is curling when natural and blow dries straight. I used purchased Wen after watching the infomercial, I am familiar with the concept of cleansing cream shampoos so I was comfortable testing it out. I selected Tea Tree Oil because my scalp can get dry, especially during the winter. My hair is a little past my shoulders so I used the recommended amount plus a little more. After I cleansed and deep condition with Wen, I let my hair air dry and did not touch it I wanted to see how my hair would look with no other product in it. I was pleasantly surprised how soft and manageable it was without any styling products. Then I blow dried my hair, only using a Therma-Shield and Chi (which I always use) and I used a little of the Wen Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme. Once my hair was done, I really liked the body and feel. I was able to achieve this using just a little styling product. I was extremely pleased with the way my scalp feels and that my blowout has lasted for 4 days with minor touch ups. I would highly recommend this product for multi-ethnic hair types.

WEN Shampoo,
By
This review is from: WENŽ Tea Tree Cleansing Conditioner 32oz (Health and Beauty)
WEN Shampoo is excellent, after using it for a couple weeks I noticed the difference in my hair. The best thing is you do not need any other products, because of the no lather you can use this as a leave in conditioner or for styling, it is a all in one. My hair dresser can not believe how healthy my hair is. Its thicker, I have no split ends and the shine is unbelivable. I have now been using this shampoo for over a year and I love it more and more everyday. I have told a few people about this who have bought it and they are as happy as I am.
