I bought this as a gift and I was embarrassed. It did not look as nice as it did on the box. It was very cheap looking (especially the tree) and the sound was not soothing at all - all you could hear was the sound of the pump with a background of dripping water. I would not recommend it.

looks good & casts a nice shadow on the wall, but as previously stated, is virtually silent. cats love to try to drink from it, but i shoo them away because of the light bulb, gets way too hot for such a small lamp. doesn't splatter much at all, if any usually. easy to assemble.

In addition to the aforementioned comments on how poorly this delivers the sounds of water dripping, the failure to only use distilled water will eventually produce horrible scaling. The minerals from the tap water will slowly collect and concentrate as the water evaporates, forming white flaky bits that can clog the motor and also just look bad.

To prevent this, keep a gallon jug of distilled water (not spring water or drinking water or fortified water or anything else!) nearby and only add from that source. It will make your Homedics products last much longer.

Like others here: It looked so nice on the box with the trees basking in the warm glow of a hidden lamp. The trees are flat black plastic and look cheap and nasty. Still, it looked quite nice when the bulb shone on it and cast a tree-shaped shadow on the wall behind it. But not for long! A few days after I bought it, the light stopped working. A replacement bulb came with it but that didn't function either. I think the cheap contact with the bulb failed. I kept it for another few months, but the pump was noisy. I have just bought a replacement for $5 and it is quieter, takes tealights, and takes up less room. It isn't much better but the tealights work and the finish is better. And it was only $5.

I've gotten some good fountains at this price, so I had no qualms about ordering this.

When I got it home... It was very, very obviously cheap plastic. The light bulb did not last more than three twenty minute sessions, and there was no replacement included, or information of where to obtain them. So much for the pretty projection effect. The sound was okay--I've heard worse. About the only good thing about this fountain was that it was easy to set up. Literally, nothing to it.

This item was ordered to be used as a night light and to listen to the water fall to help me fall asleap. Well, I couldn't hear the water fall at all, and the light burned out after only a few days. Do not waste your money on this item, it is pure junk.

The fountain is very cute, the projection of twin trees is a nice touch. The only complaint is that is it virtually silent. No soothing water sounds. Sounds more like a leaky faucet with a single drip every 20 seconds - if your lucky. I will probably keep it for the projection effect.

I bought this to bring me a relaxing sound in a combat environment. I works well, looks great and is very quiet!
If you want to hear water trickle this is not the one you want. The motor is very quiet as long as it is submerged in water. the light and shadow projected on the wall are very good and provides nice lowlevel lighting atmosphere.
Not bad for it's size or cost.

My 8 year old granddaughter wanted this badly. She had a battery operated one in her room that was pretty pathetic. She loved this, and it appeared to be well made for the price, and she loved it.

Even though it's made of light plastic and when you look closely it looks like a toy, I loved it. It can fit anywhere. The light isn't strong enough to create any shadow, but I just loved the fact that you actually don't hear the water running. So no need for you to go running to the bathroom every few minutes..
