Needed a little work time before I was able to use the trimmer correctly. The self feeded breaks the line and has to be rest.
Best to leave the guard out, seems to work much better.
I purchased two extra batteries and now have a total of four. Best to run the batteries all the way down (discharge)by putting in in the blower and then fully charge. Batteries...

Initially I was going to order this product directly from the manufacturer but after speaking with several different sales and customer service reps - the best answer for estimated delivery date was "sometime in the next two months".
Right them I should have known to go with the Black & Decker set!!!
I ordered this 3 piece WORX set through Amazon and had it within a week.
It worked as advertised for about 2 uses.
Then the auto-string-feed on the edger stopped working and had to be done manually. Every time.
Next problem was the batteries keeping a shorter and shorter charge, I followed the manufacturers complete discharge/complete recharge instructions, until I couldn't edge and blow HALF of a .23 acre lot using both batteries.
The last straw was the hedge trimmer completely refusing to power on at all.
THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE PROBLEMS CLAIMING "YOU BOUGHT IT FROM AMAZON - IT'S THEIR PROBLEM, NOT OURS."
Amazon has sent me a return Authorization and I will NOT be purchasing another WORX item, EVER.

1.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!, July 7, 2009
By
This review is from: WORX WG901.1 3-Piece 18-Volt Cordless Outdoor Tool Combo Kit with Blower, String Trimmer and Hedge Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
The WORX product is alright, although the mower arrived with minor damage (poor packaging). The customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with.

After purchasing my WORX mower and grass trimmer through Amazon, I eventually needed to purchase more trimmer spools and opted for the "free" spools program (paying only shipping) offered directly from WORX customer service. In the same order, I also purchased a device from them that allows you to store the grass trimmer and it's battery on the wall of your garage.

After being charged as expected, two weeks past with no product. I contacted their customer service and was informed both products (spools and trimmer device) were on back-order but would ship in 24 to 48 hours. After another week passed, I called again and was transferred to a supervisor who sounded like he was reading from a script. He admitted the spools had not been on back-order but could not explain why I was lied to previously. He could not tell me when my order would ship saying that it was "in process". He then offered a to wave the shipping cost as though that would fix not being able to use my $100 WORX grass trimmer without the spools they sell. This supervisor then assured me he would forward my "case" to upper management and I would receive a call within the 72 business hours. It's been eight days and I've not received a call. It's been over 4 weeks since I placed the order.

Though it's for a small amount of money (less than $25), WORX customer service has essentially stolen my money and falsely advertised in selling me a product I can't obtain and they won't (or as this supervisor said to me, he "can't") tell me why!

I assume others are receiving the items they purchase from WORX. I have no idea why they can't solve my issue. I'm sincerely amazed at the incompetence and inability of this company's customer service and therefore highly recommend all consumers consider purchasing lawn products from one of WORX's competitors instead (try Black and Decker). If this is any example of how WORX is willing to do business then they deserve to go out of business. Buyer beware.

I purchased two extra batteries and now have a total of four. Best to run the batteries all the way down (discharge)by putting in in the blower and then fully charge. Batteries will last longer. I purchased a cheap outlet timmer and set it for about 3 hour to charge batteries. Do not trust the overcharge protection on the charge. Best to keep the batteries in a airconditioned room and out of the hot garage. Buy extra feed line from the worx web sight. Best deal going. Do not expect a work horse. I am happy with purchase with free shipping and no sales tax. Hedge trimmer works well too.

My wife both me the Worx 3 piece battery operated tools for Fathers Day. I'll start with the worst and move up. The Blower works but can't touch my existing 4cyl gas blower, so I don't use it. The trimmer, at first seemed to be not so powerful and awkward to use. That has changed, I found many adjustments for this unit that now makes it acceptable and works well. Still experimenting.... Now to the best! The hedge trimmer!! Wow, its 20inches long, very powerful for a battery unit and works as well as my old electric unit! The old electric unit went to the garbage and I just use this one. It can cut twigs that are thicker than a 1/4 inch with no problem. Very nice, not to worry about cords or gas. The package comes with two batteries, and they last and last. One good thing is that this is not a 3 in 1 tool. It is 3 different tools, and with the 2 batteries, any two tools can be used at once. Worx also sells these units as singles, in case you do not want the 3 piece package. The 3 piece package comes with a neat garage wall hanger, so you can neatly mount all three tools on any wall. In conclusion, at first I was not that impressed (except for the Hedge trimmer) but as I use these tools more and more, I'm getting more impressed with these products.

4.0 out of 5 stars good price for adequate equipment, April 29, 2009
This review is from: WORX WG901.1 3-Piece 18-Volt Cordless Outdoor Tool Combo Kit with Blower, String Trimmer and Hedge Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
These are adequate light duty homeowner tools. The "blower" is a fairly good sweeper; works well on hard surfaces only, quickly kills a fully charged battery. The string line trimmer is ok for light maintenance; don't bother trying to edge your lawn. The hedge trimmer was a pleasant surprise, worked well on my hedges and battery held up well.

If you are a woman who has to take care of her own lawn duties, this set is great. It's relatively light weight (everything is relative after carrying it for an hour.) It's light duty, but it gets the job done. I live in a wooded area with weeds rather than grass and I can trim about 1/4 acre of tough stuff with one charge. When my battery is dead, so am I! The hedge trimmer works so much better than I thought it would, but the blower works a little worse than I expected.

The set is lightweight, and it works. You don't have to smell any gasoline or worry about projectiles flying at you because it's not as powerful as gas machines (I think that's a good thing!) You might need to have someone come in and tidy up in the beginning of spring and the end of fall, but this set lets you take care of the in between time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Weed Eater, July 10, 2010

This product isn't made as well as stated. The weed eater works well, however, when changing from weed eating to edging, the guard broke off. It is only held on by a tiny screw, so when changing to edging, the guard broke right off. I am still waiting for a replacement guard which I ordered more than a week ago.

My brother bought the combo and told me about it. I have a powerful blower, but it's electric and not worth the trouble to blow off the lawnmower. The WORX blower is perfect for cleaning out the basement garage (doesn't have dirt and grass blowing all over the car). It works great down the sidewalks and driveway.
The Hedge Trimmer is fabulous! It's light weight, easy to handle, and works like a charm! In no time my unruly holly bushes are squared and beautiful.
I haven't tried the Trimmer/Edger yet, but after looking at the video that came with the Combo Pack, I'm sure I'll love it as much as the other two pieces.
Speaking of the Video, it's wonderfully simple and informative. Takes a lot of guesswork out of the product.
I'll be thinking of who else needs this combo pack for Christmas, Birthdays, or Father's Day. It's WONDERFUL. And so easy to use.
By the way, I'm a petite female and do my own yard work.

5.0 out of 5 stars WORX Yard Tools, June 24, 2009
This review is from: WORX WG901.1 3-Piece 18-Volt Cordless Outdoor Tool Combo Kit with Blower, String Trimmer and Hedge Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
I bought a 3in1 deal WORX brand. 1 is a weed eater & edger. 2 is a bush/hedge trimmer/shaper. 3 is a blower/sweeper. It came with 2 18 volt batteries & a charger & wall mounter. They are very light weight and adjusts to fit the person using it so you don't have to bend, etc. They are extremely easy to use & quick & no big deal about getting it out to use- no electrical cords, No pull starting for gas motors, no smells. THEY ARE GREAT!!! I am female & I can use them with arthritis & fybromyalgia, on my better days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Suprised, October 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WORX WG901.1 3-Piece 18-Volt Cordless Outdoor Tool Combo Kit with Blower, String Trimmer and Hedge Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
I had viewed an infomercial about the Worx products a few months back. When i got tired of trying to start our three gas powered trimmers, and subsequently became less and less interested in trucking around a power cable only to find that it was too short for some areas, I started the search for a battery powered option.

I originally had settled on just the trimmer, but to get an entire kit of goodies for only an additional $50, how could I pass it up?

It was delivered 2 days after I ordered, and in spite of my choosing the "Free super-Saver Shipping" option. It took me an entire 7 minutes to open the box and put all three items together. It took about 1 hour each battery for charging time, and I was out the door testing my new toys out. I was suprised at how well the Hedge trimmer worked on bushes that have been overgrown for a few years now. The blower worked well, but unfortunately only has one speed to it. Now that it is turning into Autumn, I can take advantage of the go anywhere convenience of this item. The weed trimmer is as expected for one that recommends that a .065 line be used max. The thicker weeds gave a little trouble but ultimately were taken out. The battery while operating the trimmer lasted about 25 minutes before I noticed a reduction in power.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for battery powered options. If you are looking for more power, they do have a 24v option.
