Book Description

Lady Babs had already done one unforgivable thing: she had written a novel. It was under a pseudonym, of course, but the story she’d thought would sell only a few copies to help stave off her father’s creditors was becoming a sensation. Passion’s Seed had the beau monde in a panic, because it was all about ‘them’! If it were ever revealed that she, one of the aristocracy’s own, was the author, she would be ruined.

Now she was contemplating doing something equally scandalous. The ‘rules’ dictated that, as a woman, she had to wait until marriage to enjoy pleasures men were allowed when single. Lady Babs, however, had other ideas, for she had fallen in love with the man known as Lord Wildfire, a dashing duke with a penchant for the ladies but not for marriage.

But while she yearned for Lord Wildfire, another man lusted after her. And Sir Edward was willing to go to any lengths to make her his—including following his hunch that Lady Babs was somehow involved in the publication of Passion’s Seed …

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Regency Romance August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wildfire Kiss by Claudy Conn
Lady Barbara `Babs' Waverly is on her third season. She stays close to her good friend Count Otto Stauffenberg. For you see it's not that Babs is lacking for male attention....it's that she wants a marriage that is a love match. And her dear friend Otto just wants to be left alone. So together they keep the wolves at bay....well some of the wolves. It seems that Babs latest discretion has her father calling in the big gun, Aunt Jane.

This book had so many great characters that come to life and you find yourself hoping they all find happiness but alas there were too many men and only two women. There is Sir Edward `Ned' Danton who is nice looking and wealthy. Sir Charles is also handsome and quite a jovial chap. The Duke of Barrington, who is Charles cousin and friend, is definitely not lacking for female attention but now that he's a Duke he may have to think about an heir but he's not ready for the marriage mart yet. There are so many things going on but the book is not too busy. There are secrets and blackmail, love, laughter, adventure and even Lord Byron.
**Sexual situations and language

5.0 out of 5 stars The Duke won my heart. =) September 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I love historical romances and "Wildfire Kiss" definitely is an amazing regency historical romance that I had a hard time putting down. The Duke actually prevented me from working on college assignments last week...but that was okay because the Duke was VERY worth it.
Lady Babs has written a book, but she's trying to keep it a secret that she wrote it. She never thought her book would be a big success and now she really has to keep it hush, hush that she wrote it otherwise it could make her family upset and ruin her reputation. She just wanted to help her father out when she wrote it.
She's on her third season out, and she's trying everything to stay away from getting married to the suitors that her father and her Aunt want her to marry because she just wants to have fun. She knows she should get married before enjoying pleasures with a man, but Lord Wildfire otherwise known as Duke of Barrington is hard to resist when she first meets him. Even Lord Wildfire is having a hard time resisting to the beautiful Lady Babs.
There is another man, Sir Edward, lusting after Lady Babs though and he will do at anything to win her over and make her his wife.
Lady Babs is going to have to make Sir Edward realize though that she is in love with another. Of course Sir Edward is going to do the unthinkable to get Lady Babs for his own.
My thoughts on Wildfire Kiss are of course that I loved it. I think I already said that in the beginning, but I thought I say it again. =) Claudy Conn's writing style is amazing. I actually found myself imagining going back in time when reading this book. I love the regency romance genre and Claudy's book definitely kept me clicking on my Kindle to finish the book. =)
I absolutely adored the Duke or aka Lord Wildfire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance!! August 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is such a cute story. I loved Babs and the way that she was so spirited. Her father is in debt so to help pay the bills, she writes a tell all of the ton. She changes the names and has it published under a man's name. If she is found out, it will ruin her and her father.
Babs finds herself in trouble when someone finds out she wrote the book and blackmails her into marriage. The problem is; it's not the man that she loves and wants to be with.
You have to read this charming story. I found that once I started it, I had to finish. Another hit for Claudy!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Heavyhanded and shallow historical environment. August 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
(review by wife of Amazon account holder)

Perhaps I read too many Regencies, but I found this novel entirely tedious. I nearly stopped reading it when Napoleon, Wellington, Lord Byron, Caroline Lamb, Beau Brummell, and "A Vindication of the Rights of Women" were all mentioned within the first few pages. (I am especially tired of glowing mentions of the early feminist work "A Vindication of the Rights of Women" which was not popular in the time period and would not have been available to women in Society.) I continued reading, given hope by the correct grammar and good composition. After all I fully expect impossibly fit and handsome rakish dukes, nefarious dandies, and irresistibly beautiful young misses in the Regencies I read. I also realize storylines will be overused and recycled (i.e. trapped at sea, secretly noble highwaymen, etc.) and that they will all be Boy Meets Girl And Lives Happily Ever After. I read these novels for their comfortable sameness not out of a desire to be wowed by their originality.

-Spoiler Alert of Scene That Adds Absolutely Nothing to the Storyline.-

However, I was sincerely unimpressed when our beloved heroine was complimented on her ravishing good looks by both Beau Brummell and Lord Byron at the same ball, at the same time. Indeed, she engaged in riveting conversation with both famous historical figures. And of course Society did not look askance at an unmarried miss being apparently good friends with Lord Byron at the same time rumors abounded regarding his adulterous relationship with Lady Lamb and incestuous relationship with Lady Leigh (although I feel it is a bit early historically for rumors of Lady Leigh - but the author mentions his relationship with his half-sister). I rolled my eyes and continued reading.

More About the Author

Hi everyone!

I am so happy you stopped by.
Some of you may know me as Claudette Williams/Melanie Davis, two names I used when I was writing regency and historical romances. In more recent years, I fell in love with the fantasy/paranormal world of romance as well.

I created my Legend series. The first, Spellbound-Legend was received with great success and I went on to continue the series. I wrote Prince Prelude-Legend, as a backstory for the Legend series and a continuation of Prince Breslyn's tale started in Prince in the Mist.
By popular demand I have written my Queen,Aaibhe backstory in Aaibhe, Shee Queen.

I wrote over 40 mass market bestsellers for Random House, Doubleday, and Zebra in the past, but now, I have become an Indie Author.
As an Indie author, I still want to give my readers the best that I can, so I have a wonderful professional editor, a copy editor and an amazing cover artist.

In the meantime, some of my historical romance fans have asked for more in that genre and I have been hard at work rewriting and updating my regency romances and making them more realistic and spicy. I also created my bestselling paranormal regency, Netherby Halls.

Vampires whispered to me and Shadowlove-Stalkers was born as the first of three, each stand alone, though it comes together in the third book, as the team unites for a final battle.

What do I do when I'm not writing? I love the outdoors and my Bob and I are always hiking, swimming, traveling, playing with our wolf and her son and the horses. My daughter and her great husband live nearby and so am very lucky to be able to spend wonderful times with them.
My favorite things, Chocolate, fries and pizza, ha, which I get to enjoy so rarely, LOL.
My beautiful Cherokee and her son Rocky the Man who we both love to spoil. Pride our horse.
The Vampire Diaries and I am definitely Team Damon!
