1.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Terrible CD in a Row!
Please don't be mislead by the other review. This CD is terrible and it's no surprise the CD was only released in France (and only sold less than 4,000 copies). The production is very outdated and Bonnie's lyrics are so cliche ridden. You know when an artist is desperate when they start making new versions of the songs that made them famous. This new record is just fantastic! I'm glad I bought
it and that I didn't pay too much attention to some of
the reviews below! (???) This woman sure knows what
she's doing and she sure ain't done with rocking our
lives just yet. Bonnie Tyler does not only look
terrifically good next to her young new musicians (cf
the new song "Louise" video: www.stickmusic.fr) she
also still sound amazing in 2005. I particularly like
the songs "Driving me crazy" (and listening to it in
my car on a night out!), "All I need is Love",
"Celebrate" & "Run Run Run" (great party song), but
also the ballads "Crying in Berlin" and "Hold out your
Heart" featuring her trade mark voice.
The new versions of the classics "It's a heartache"
and "Total Eclipse Of the Heart" are simply great for
the "real" Bonnie fans (and everybody else) as the
great production really gives a fresher approach to
them. Thank you very much Mrs Tyler!

5.0 out of 5 stars rock'n ballads, October 1, 2005
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
this is an old school rock album with rocking songs and good ballads. If you like the 70'and 80'you're right here. Louise is a cool song you should here it loud, the same with run, run, run and driving me crazy. Streets of stone and all I need is love are the ballads I prefer. If you have the chance to see Bonnie live: do it. She is so great on stage. Be sure: you will never hear such an outrages voice from anyone else. I hope there will be soon a live dvd with her complete clips.

5.0 out of 5 stars Banging Album!, November 14, 2005
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
I think it's very fair to say that the older this woman gets the better she becomes. And this album just goes to prove it. Don't be misled by those negative reviews because this album rocks. And the voice is better than ever! 'Stand Up, Louise, I Won't Look Back' are stand out tracks. And 'All I Need Is Love' is to die for. You simply must buy this album and turn it up loud! The 2 cover versions are not so good and quite pointless. But on the whole it's great. But no doupt it will just join her ever increasing list of underated albums. Still never mind. Go Bonnie!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not her best, but different..., October 15, 2005
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
I am a huge fan of Bonnie's, and I must say that despite the low sale and the many critics, I like this album. It is true, the lyrics don't mirror the grandiosity of Steinman or Child. The music is reminiscent of some 80s tunes, but overall, I do like the album.

It is not her best to date (that one, in my opinion, being NOTES FROM AMERICA), but I like it nonetheless. It is just deplorable that the record company would put TEOTH and HEARTACHE on every other CD/compilation, especially when they pale in comparison to the originals. I think that Bonnie's got it in her to come back, but putting those tracks on a CD, makes people think it is yet another compilation, further restricting the ability of others to want to purchase this album, especially nowadays. Most people know TEOTH and IT'S A HEARTACHE. Those titles are well-known, but they may not be familiar with other titles. This is disruptive to the commercial success of someone that great...sadly!

Bonnie co-wrote every song on this album, which is a first, and the reception has been lukewarm. I personally think that though corny at times, some songs stand out, especially the duet with Mrs Loud from Meat Loaf fame on the track I'LL STAND BY YOU. Great lyrics and great tune! LOUISE is a really good song, and CELEBRATE, is infectious! I WON'T LOOK BACK reminds me something that Tina Turner could have sung. I also like the title track a lot. Nice package, and the inlay is pretty well done too!

Now, something really neat would be to get Bonnie back in the studio for a nice bluesy Christmas album, or a new collaboration with Desmond Child and/or Jim Steinman! That would be a rocker!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wings.....one of Bonnie Tyler's best albums, July 17, 2005
By
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
This album reminds me of Free Spirit. It is a wonderful album and all songs are wonderful. I don't know why bother with new versions of total eclipse and it's a heartache but overall the album is great. My favorite songs are: The streets of stone, I won't look back, All i need is love, Louise, Stand up, Crying in Berlin, Stand by you and the rest are good too. I simply love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, January 12, 2006

This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
Bonnie co-wrote almost all of these songs and this is a great, pop-rock CD. It doesn't make any big statements, and it's not thought provoking, etc etc...it's just good old pop/rock. Ignore the one or two negative reviews. If you love Bonnie, you'll love this CD and her last CD Simply Believe. This did get an initial release in just France but is supposed to have an international release pending. Bonnie has had a huge comeback in France after her French version duet of Total Eclipse Of The Heart (Si Demain) from Simply Believe was #1 in France just a year or so ago for like a month. It was huge. So, as for the reviewer who made a big deal out of her releasing just in France or sayin artists are over when they start remaking old hits, I don't think that's true in this case. Bonnie's voice has matured and her new solo version of Eclipse on this CD is wonderful, the vocal is amazing and better than the original. The CD contains many rock anthem type songs like the rock/uptempo single Louise that has a rocker band feel the likes of Journey, and alot of semi-sappy power rock ballads like Stand Up and Wings. My favorite song is the strickly pop mid-tempo All I Need Is Love. This is just a fun CD. I give Bonnie kudos for keeping it real and doing music that is very much in her blood.

1.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Terrible CD in a Row!, September 13, 2005
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
Please don't be mislead by the other review. This CD is terrible and it's no surprise the CD was only released in France (and only sold less than 4,000 copies). The production is very outdated and Bonnie's lyrics are so cliche ridden. You know when an artist is desperate when they start making new versions of the songs that made them famous. In this case, Bonnie covers two of her biggest hits: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "It's a Heartache". While "Heartache" is listenable, "Total Eclipse" is a travesty. Sadly, this is the second album (the first being the even worse "Simply Believe") that Bonnie has rehashed old songs. Another sad fact about this release is that it seems Bonnie and her team of writers have simply run out of ideas. Take "Celebrate", for example. The song is an obvious "Bitterblue" rewrite..same beat and same style. "Streets of Stone" is a "Forget Her" rewrite. Bonnie has burned so many bridges she's forced to sign to a small record label and this is the result of bad management and bad decisions. Fans are forced to weak, watered down material. Only two songs emerge from this mess as listenable: the somewhat forced torch ballad "Crying In Berlin" and the likeable feel good track "Stand Up". It's no wonder Bonnie hasn't had a reasonable hit since 1986 (for some measure Bonnie has released nearly over 60 singles and only 5 have been hits). If you want the most recent Bonnie albums with the better material hunt down copies of 1995's "Free Spirit" and the much underrated 1998's "All In One Voice".

EDIT*** I would like to say that I'm appalled at one of the above reviews that suggests that I'm not a "real" fan because I didn't like this new CD. I've been a fan since 1980 and I don't think you have to love or accept everything a singer does in order to be a fan. This new album stinks of desperation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh my what the heck???, September 26, 2005
This review is from: WINGS (2005) (Audio CD)
Okay gals and boys, ladies and gentlemen listen up,
this album is by far the worst thing I have bought this century. The title should have been a clue but I was willing to give Bonnie a chance having been a fan for a long time but oh my do I wish now I hadn't. The lyrics are so corny and clichee that I would laugh about them if it wasn't so sad. Bonnie's voice in parts sounds like it is about to give out on her and to top it all off and add insult to injury now she has taken to stealing melodies from her old songs badly making them into new songs and thinks we are to stuipd to notice.
I think it is very clear from this album that Bonnie is far away from a come back. Even the most die hard fans should realize that Bonnie sadly has burned so many bridges that she now has to rely on small insignificant recording labels who have given her career the kiss of death and have added the Will NEVER to the phrase COME BACK.
As to the appearance of the album come on every one can you spell air brushed to the max and botox?
I know there will be those of you die hard fans who will still hail this album a success blind to reality but I think the rest of the record buying public will see clearly from the weak attempt of an album that Bonnie Tyler has seen her day and is now a has been like so many other artists from the eighties. This album has totally turned me off from buying anything further made by her because after Simply Believe and now this stinker I am sick and tired of wasting my hard earned money.
Bonnie Needs to retire now before she becomes the laughing stock of the music industry.
