Deals with fractions well, February 18, 2011
This review is from: The WISHING CLUB: A Story About Fractions (Hardcover)
I was a little hesitant about the grabability of this book at first, maybe because of the quiet, well mannered tone of the children and the illustrations. Good picture books about fractions are rare on the ground, though, so I ordered The Wishing Club for my library and read it through carefully. It deals with wishing on a star, and that's always good. A lesson on the correct magic words to use is included. Obtaining a pig for a pet is good too. The Wishing Club delivers a lesson in fractions with a lot of fun and magic and a minimum of hoke. I'm happy to be able to add it to my library's math corner.

This review is from: The WISHING CLUB: A Story About Fractions (Hardcover)
Four young children wish on a star one night. They seem to think that something must be wrong with the star because each kid only gets a fraction of the thing they wish for. They decide that if they all wished for the same thing that all together they might get a whole item! They wish for pig. Will their idea work?
