5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Skills Based Game for Children
I bought this game for my son and daughter, ages 8 and 11. The game was advertised by the Parents' Choice Foundation as an award winner and I thought I might give it a try. The best thing about this game is that questions are specially designed for different age groups. My 8 year old son would answer questions designed for 8 year-olds on the Yellow Side of the question...

I bought this game for my son and daughter, ages 8 and 11. The game was advertised by the Parents' Choice Foundation as an award winner and I thought I might give it a try. The best thing about this game is that questions are specially designed for different age groups. My 8 year old son would answer questions designed for 8 year-olds on the Yellow Side of the question card. And my 11 year-old daughter would answer questions designed for her age group on the Blue Side of the card. The questions are fantastic and a lot of fun for the kids. Instead of straight yes or no answers the kids are challenged to answer from four skill-based categories: Teasers are by and large Rhymes for Kids to Solve; Odd1Out asks kids to pick which one does not belong; Sequence questions ask Kids to arrange things in sequence by weight, size distance, date etc.; and the Wild Card category requests a bunch of stuff like finding items that begin with certain letters. The game comes with a spinner which determines the category the kids answer when it is their turn. I even enjoyed participating in this game...can you remember information from your 3rd grade class -- it is very challenging for adults in that way. The kids loved the very fun questions. We all learnt a lot while having a blast playing. My children and I highly recommend this game.

Forgive me for using a corny opening line: my kids love to be at their Wit's End - ha, ha, ha. I am thrilled to see them (ages 8, 9 and 12) playing something educational for a change!! The Teaser questions are rhyming riddles children try to solve and are probably loved the most, judging by the loud claps and cheers. The other question types are also crowd pleasers, with cutesy names like Dictionary Detectives, Animal Crackers, Word Whiz, etc... you get the picture. Fun stuff indeed...it makes you wish you had something like this when you were growing up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun!, November 23, 2005

This review is from: WIT'S END JUNIOR Edition Game (Toy)
I bought Wit's End Junior Edition for my kids so they could play along side use adults enjoying the family version of the game. The Junior Edition of Wit's End has the same great categories as the family version - TEASERS, OUT-1-OUT, SEQUENCE, and WILD CARD. In the kids version the TEASERS are centered around Rhymes and Riddles. In OUT-1-OUT players have to pick something that does not belong. In SEQUENCE kids put things in order (largest to smallest, most to least, oldest to newest). In the WILD CARD category one is challenged with various forms of word teasers called Word Whiz, Matching Pairs, Vowel Owl, etc. Kids are challenged to know all sorts of things, like animal facts, geography, science, spelling, riddles, etc. It is a terrific game because kids don't even know they are learning while playing. They are just so keen to reason out the answer that they get excited doing so. It's nice to see! The best thing for us is that our 8 year old can play this game with our 12 year old. This is because one side of the card (the yellow side) has questions specifically designed for kids 8-10 and the other side of the card (the blue side) has questions for 11-12 year olds. This way each kid is challenged about things in his/her age group (that is IF they want to play together! - you know how that is....). Luckily, the family version of the game is for older members of the family with questions for adults on literature, science, geography, pop culture (the kids version has no pop culture questions); history, and everything you can think of. So with the Junior Version and the Family Version together we all have fun and are all challenged!. I highly recommend both versions.

This is a charming kid's game. We have the adult version of WIT'S END Board Game (which we love) and we purchased the junior version so the kids could play along. In the junior version questions are designed for 8-10 yrs on one side of the card and 11-12 yrs on the other side. So if it is your 8 year-olds turn, a question is asked from the yellow side of the card. If it is your 12 year-olds turn you use the blue side of the card. That way kids of different age levels can play together and each be challenged at their own knowledge level. The questions come in four categories: Teasers which are riddles; Odd1Out which asks kids to pick which does not belong; Sequence which asks players to arrange things in the correct order and Wild Card which can be an anything goes sort of grab bag. The kids really enjoyed these questions and were very excited when they got it right. I would highly recommend this for kids 8-12 yrs. The key is that they really enjoyed playing and have asked since to play again!
