3.0 out of 5 stars Build is good but quality control needs to be addressed.
Purchased this for an upcoming trip to Asia. I like it's build, size, looks, materials and functionality. It would have been perfect if a stricter quality control is made before packaging. The lower right corner where you place the credit cards is badly deformed from the stitching. It was pretty bad and I would have returned it for an exchange but my trip is coming up in...

5.0 out of 5 stars The reason You Buy a Wallet Like This, February 5, 2008

The reason you buy a wallet like this is to guarantee that you don't lose it. The first day I had it (today), I wore mine for 4 hours, reached for my wallet and found it barely attached to the flimsy loop that had become frayed. I don't know why this happened, as there was nothing else in the pocket of my khakis and I used the components that came with it. Perhaps it's defective. I'll try to get a replacement and update this post afterwards. Either way, because of the flimsy loop, I've already ordered the Wallet Minder to stuff the Rewind Duo in. I hope their customer service is good; if not, I'm blasting them on every forum I can find. It's too bad I can't upload pictures to show everybody how crappy the loop on my wallet was.

UPDATE 1
****************

I sent an e-mail to their customer service, after posting here, with an attached picture of the frayed-loop wallet. Simply put, their prompt reply was outstanding. According to the e-mail, they had already initiated the process to send me a replacement with a pre-paid label. They also said that out of the thousands they have sold, they've only received 2 reports of this defect. I have no reason to doubt them, since the quality of the one I have, excluding the loop, is top notch. The fit and finish looks just like it does in the picture, it slams shut and stays shut with the magnetic clasps, is stitched very nicely (rather than glued which always gums up over time), and has sensibly placed/sized pockets. I'll update again after I receive the replacement. If all goes well, it looks like I'll be hyping them on every forum I can find.

UPDATE 2
****************

It's been two and a half years since my first post. This wallet itself show no sign of wear -- there is no fraying, no tears, no cuts, no discoloration, and no deformations. The little rewind clip is just as solid and tight as it was the day I bought it. The only signs of use are the little logo and name tags outside and inside the wallet which are worn and faded which is irrelevant. The bill viewing window shows a barely noticeable yellowing which is also irrelevant. This is the only wallet I use and it sees action at work, working out, travel, and everything else. It's the best wallet I've every owned. I plan to order one more just to keep boxed up and use only if this one ever starts to wear out. This, along with Maxpedition's Liger Belt, are perfect for people who want the best stuff that performs exactly as advertised.

Extremely satisfied with this wallet, which I got after loosing a previous one. Was worried magnets might affect credit cards, but they do not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but might not last too long, March 21, 2011

Well I bought this one since my last wallet gave up after 7 years. I was looking for one to replace it and found this one. So far its pretty good, does everything I want it to and seems like the whole wallet will last long. The only problem is that the area where the pull thing attaches is starting to fuzz. Hopefully its only cosmetic but if it started to fuzz now then I have the feeling it wont last too long. Ill input again after a while to update, and if it seems good then i might buy a backup.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally find a wallet I wanted, November 28, 2010

Before I bought this wallet, I had been looking for months for one that I liked. I wanted something to which I could attach a chain, but which wasn't some lame "biker wallet" with ridiculous graphics. This fit the bill perfectly. I wouldn't recommend it if your wallet looks like George Costanza's, but you can easily fit 6 cards, an ID, and several bills, which is about how much I have. It's got a clean appearance and the material is high quality. The buttons are solid, and make a satisfying snap when you close them. The retractor, I wasn't so fond of. I attached my own low-profile chain instead with a belt clip that also holds my keys ($1.19 at Lowe's, I highly recommend it).

This wallet is a life saver! There are so many times that I can remember losing my wallet. It is such a hassle to have to cancel all credit cards and have to go wait in line at the DMV to get another drivers license. Because of the retractable leash, it gives me peace of mind not only that I haven't lost my wallet, but also for theft purposes. True someone can pull on the leash and cut it, but you'll know right away. I've taken it with me on international trips and I don't have to worry about losing what is most important to me, my identity. And it's not like having a chain attached to it. It's light weight and retractable so there is nothing dangling from your pants or you have attached to it. I definitely recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and safe wallet, November 11, 2010

After loosing three wallets in five years, I decided to look for a wallet that I could attach to my belt. I was also looking for a retractable cord option. After some research, I located the Civilian retractable wallet. This wallet is fantastic! It has plenty of room for credit cards, driver's license, and bills. It has a couple of magnets that keep the wallet closed at all times. And the retractable cord works perfectly fine, you can even let the wallet go after you make a payment if you need an extra hand, and the wallet will stay next to your belt, so that you can put it in your backpocket as soon as you can free up your hand without loosing it. It comes in black leather and it looks great. Highly recommended!

I felt a little strange about paying this much for a wallet but I'm glad I did! My old chain wallet was getting worn out and as I am growing up I felt it was less and less professional. I am always loosing my wallet if it isn't attached to me and this ended up being a great solution. The retractable cord is solid and low key. The overall quality of the wallet is better than any that I've had. There is enough space for my most important pieces of ID and credit cards. Overall very happy with this purchase.

I bought this wallet for my husband since he needed something durable, lightweight and something he could attach to his belt and not loose.. It was ALL Of those and he loves this wallet.. the only thing that needs improvement is they need to design it to where it will hold just a little bit more and still close well.. once you get your license, credit cards and money inside, it better be limited or your wallet will NOT close well.. my only complaint

Purchased this for my nephew. So far he loves this wallet. I have the kevlar version with the clip. Civilian has a great line of high quality products. My wallets usually don't last and wear out. So far the civilian lab wallet is still holding out. What is cool about this wallet is that it has two magnets to keep your wallet closed. The kevlar version has velcro and the noise can get annoying at times. Overall great products from Civilian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid wallet with a couple of very minor quirks, March 13, 2009
This review is from: WLT-DUO-BLK: Duo Rewind lossless wallet by Civlian Lab (Office Product)
Been using this wallet for a few weeks now. No frayed wallet loop. Impressions:

- This wallet is pretty small. That's mostly a good thing, though I note the credit card pockets are very tight. I am having to double up cards in each pocket, which probably is the real problem, but I expect this issue to go away as the wallet breaks in.

- The tether works great, though it seems complex compared to a chain. The wallet loop hooks to a clasp, which hooks to the reel, whose line ends in another clasp/carabiner, which attaches to the leather belt loop. I sort of wish the belt loop had a snap so that I didn't have to take off my belt to get rid of my wallet, but it hasn't mattered yet.

- Viewing window is a great idea but could have been placed so as to show the denomination of the outermost bill. Magnetic snaps work fine despite my having overstuffed the wallet already. They haven't erased any of my cards yet.

On the whole I am very happy with this wallet. It isn't perfect, but it's pretty close.
