WMF Stainless Steel Breadbox

This breadbox is both stylish, modern and elegant. The lid raises smoothly with the feeling that it is weighted (since it's constructed of sturdy stainless steel) and the opaque section of the curved lid adds even more to its good looks. The handle is modern and sleek and is attached to the stainless lower section of the lid below the opaque section. It also has enough capacity to hold several items without crowding and its size is not at all unwieldy like most breadboxes. It has 4 very small rubber feet on the botton so it will not scratch surfaces and the weight is perfect I had been looking a very long time for a stylish breadbox and had failed until now. I couldn't have been happier at finding it. I have received several compliments and those people have shown interest in buying one also. I first saw this item when on vacation in Ireland and tried to obtain it on the WMF website when I returned home. I had difficulty navigating the website as it was in German so I entered "stainless steel breadbox" on Google and was directed to Amazon.com directly to the product I was searching for!

WMF is a well known German manufacturer of steel products. This bread box is not made by WMF Germany and does not carry the WMF logo as shown in the photo. The box is made in China and does not meet quality expectations for WMF. It's on its way back now.

This bread box is well worth the price. It is attractive as well as functional. The roll top has a delightfully smooth motion, and you don't have to worry about needing increased space to open it up. Mine sits under cabinets, so that is a concern. It takes up no more room open than closed. I'm very glad I spent a little extra to get a high quality product.

This is a well design, well made, spacious breadbox. The slide action of the door is smooth, it does not walk or move when opening or closing and the interior space is spacious and well proportioned. It is pricey, but of nice construction and made of quality materials. Since we were in need of a solution and plan to have this for a long while, the quality and design factors overrode the cost. Several visitors to our home have honed in on it, opened and closed it a few times and then made positive comments about it. My wife and I are as excited as one could expect to be about a breadbox.

Paying $100 for a breadbox is somewhat crazy, but this product is well worth the money. It is nicely designed, and very well constructed, you can feel the quality when you open and close the lid. It holds European-style bread fresh for several days with just the right amount of ventilation. Highly recommended.

OK...... Yes...... I purchased this breadbox and it is all the wonderful things that everyone says it is. Based on the reviews, I was under the impression that this product was made in the UK. Instead, this product was made in China. That being the case, why are we paying $100.00 for it? Does anyone even care? I wish I had known. Amazon should inform us where each product we are buying has been manufactured. Then at least we can make the choice, before we buy, whether to support China, ourselves, or someone else. Two stars deleted based on country of origin.

Like the item very much, roomy, looks nice. However, it does not sit on the level,the bottom is torqued so that one of the four corners sits about a cm above the rest, so it rocks. Didn't want to hassle with sending it back so kept it. It is annoying though. Thought it would be a little better made than to have this particular problem.

We've owned the WMF Breadbox for just over a year now. We ordered it to match our new stainless steel kitchen appliances and to clean up the clutter of breads we always have on the counter. It can fit 2 loaves (squeezed) plus another ½ loaf or a bag of English muffins on top. It is very attractive and substantial looking. Its glass-windowed roll top is heavy but balanced and is smoothly contoured with no sharp edges to cut your fingers. The rubber bottom feet keep it securely positioned without scratching the counter. The only thing I would change is it is just slightly too narrow front to back to place two 24 oz. loaves side-by-side. With teenagers, we usually have at least 2-3 loaves at all times. We purchased a Krups stainless steel 4-slice toaster at the same time and they look great next to each other. It was pricier than I'd prefer, but I think it should last for many years. Although, I see that it looks like it may have some competition with the new Oggi brand stainless steel roll top which appears nearly identical in design for $40.00 less! In comparison, the Oggi is larger, (my loaves would fit) but interestingly the Oggi weighs 2 lbs. less than the WMF. That would have to mean either the glass or the box is thinner and less substantial. 4 not 5 because of the slight size deficit and the high price point.

Well we've had this breadbox just shy of 3 years. I can tell you it is still in excellent condition, with no problems whatsoever. I've found that if I place my two (24 oz. size)loaves of bread on their sides, I can fit both in the breadbox without stacking. And, there is still additional space on top for muffins or what have you. Considering in the past, my cheaper breadboxes would break by now, I'd have to say that this one will probably last forever!

We bought this bread box for our homemade gluten free bread because it kept drying out so quickly on the counter. This bread box has been great at keeping the bread moist for several days and we are very happy with it. It also looks great on the counter and is easy to clean. The box is very sturdy and well made and seems like it will hold up to years and years of daily use. Overall, a great product and well worth the money.
