5.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary and very sleek looking HIGH quality set
I got this set to compliment another modern looking flatware set "iittala Artik Flatware" which I thought is the best looking flatware out there for it's build quality and style. When we got this set from amazon I was surprised as it almost looked similar to iittala Artik set. WMF Taika set had more contemporary style and it looked as if the Artik set has been elongated...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful but ergonomically disasterous
Beautiful and weighty, this set is beautiful to behold but ergonomically disasterous. The slippery design, coupled with the weight, easily slips out of your hand. While the slim orthogonal lines are eleagant, it is difficult to grip and use, especially when balancing several things (e.g., utensils, plate, cup) at once. The weight of the utensil lies in the handle...

5.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary and very sleek looking HIGH quality set, October 18, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WMF Taika 43-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 (Kitchen)
I got this set to compliment another modern looking flatware set "iittala Artik Flatware" which I thought is the best looking flatware out there for it's build quality and style. When we got this set from amazon I was surprised as it almost looked similar to iittala Artik set. WMF Taika set had more contemporary style and it looked as if the Artik set has been elongated on top and bottom to make it long. Very long!

The handles on this set are long, very long unlike anything we expect from flatware. They are almost as long as the chop-sticks we get in chinese restaurants. The long handles make it look very elegant. Inspite of the long handles, the weight of the flatware is comfortable to hold for long time. The stainless steel looks very vibrant and attractive like the one we see in Pro-style kitchen appliances.

If you prefer your flatware to be somewhere between very contemporary to some what traditional in style, iittala's Artik set is a better choice. iittala set also seems to have a little better build quality than WMF (this doesn't mean WMF is any less quality). The dessert spoon (the smallest spoon) is my favorite!

This set should please anyone who is looking for a very stylish, modern looking flatware with VERY high quality stainless steel. It will get lots of WOWs from your guests.

5.0 out of 5 stars Award-winning design combined with superb quality, March 23, 2006

The German manufacturer's Web site supplied the information missing from
Amazon--and it showed the list price given on Amazon to be no exaggeration.
I cannot praise this flatware too highly, quite apart from the unbelievably low
price. The Finnish design is beautiful; it fits the hand nicely; and the quality of
manufacture is very high, as one would expect from this venerable company.

The weight of the utensil lies in the handle (rather than evenly distributed or at the center). The kids have a difficult time handling it and consequently hate using it.
