Amazon.com Review
The common box grater is fine when there's a huge brick of cheese or a bunch of potatoes to be shredded, but the Silit grater is for the smaller tasks. It's great for small amounts of cheese, chocolate, carrots, cabbage, coconut, or plenty of other things that don't begin with "c." Instead of chopping an onion, use the Silit grater to avoid tears while keeping a cutting board clean. Place the food to be grated into the hopper, lock it into position, twist the domed lid, and the clear canister will fill up with the grated product. The clear bottom cup also makes a convenient, if casual, serving container.
The lid is indented with a concentric ring of comfortable thumb and finger indentations for a comfortable grip. There are three stainless-steel grating inserts to choose from--fine-hole, coarse-hole, and slotted. The slotted insert will make thin slivers of cheese or slender curls of chocolate. The inserts can all be fastened onto the bottom of the grater for easy storage.
Clean the grater using hot, soapy water; it is also dishwasher-safe. The grater has a 3-1/4-inch diameter and is 7 inches tall. Silit guarantees all of its products with a 10-year warranty. --Garland Withers
