Though fingerprints and smudges can show up now and then on stainless steel, a good wipe with a soft cloth should clean them off. The mug is also dishwasher-safe. Measuring four by three inches (excluding handle), the cup holds twelve ounces of coffee or tea. --Ann Bieri

Attractive and functional,

This review is from: WMF Kult Stainless Steel Coffee Mug (Kitchen)
This is a 380 ml coffee mug, a tad over 12 oz. It seems smaller so I loaded it up. Actually holds about 12.5 oz. That's the point of the review. It is exactly as advertised; for irrational reasons I thought it would be larger. It's nicely executed, durable and keeps the coffee warm for 20 -30 minutes and is very easy to clean.
And the mug gets warm, not hot to the touch. So, I tried a casual experiment. I filled the WMF Kult stainless mug, a Styrofoam cup and a standard ceramic coffee mug with water at 184ºF. All three were within an eight of an inch of the same diameter at the top. After 10 minutes the temperatures were 160ºF for the WMF Kult mug, 146ºF for the Styrofoam, and 139ºF for the ceramic. After 20 minutes 144ºF for WMF Kult, 130ºF for Styrofoam and 125ºF for ceramic. The 15ºF to 20ºF difference may not seem like much, but for me it means the WMF Kult cup provides tolerable coffee for an extra ten to 15 minutes. So there is some genuine insulation value. I would have given it five stars at say $20, but at $25 it's a little on the pricey side.

handle detached from mug,

Bought two of these in March 2008. They were used once a day and washed by hand. After just four months the handle of one mug detached from the body - they are just glued on. I was willing to pay a premium price for these mugs since my plan was for them to last many years. Would have been better off at the dollar store with mugs that I knew I would have to replace every four months.

my favorite mug,

I just bought my second of these WMF mugs from Amazon.com - it is my absolute favorite mug for the following reasons: 1. It DOES keep drinks hot or cold much better than a standard non-insulating mug over the 20 minutes or so that I usually take to finish my drink. 2. It does not have any condensation effect with a cold drink which anyone who lives in a hot and humid climate can tell you is a real pain - with a normal glass or mug, you get an annoying pool of water at the base of the mug - not good on a wooden table! Not so with this which shows to me that the insulating does work effectively. 3. It is an extremely well made product and looks very stylish! Last week I noticed its use by Tchéky Karyo in the Jet Li film "Kiss of the Dragon". 4. It has a perfect sized handle and a super smooth lip that make it a pleasure to hold and drink from. In my opinion this was never designed to to be a thermos mug (hence my disagreement with the last reviewer). If you are looking for a thermos mug with a lid, I recommend the "Nissan 15.9 Ounce Travel Mug" - I also have 2 of those and they are also great (but not as nice to drink from). The Nissan will keep your drinks hot or cold for more like an hour so in that respect it has its own niche. One final thought: the lack of lid on this mug means that its insulating effect probably works better for cold drinks than hot drinks (due to the principal of hot air rising). In summary this is great as a super stylish insulating mug - probably the best you will find - just don't expect a thermos! Yes it is quite expensive but in my opinion is well worth it as you are paying for quality. Happy drinking!
