Have used pressure cookers for years and this is one of the best. All parts easily washed, even cooking, very heavy stainless steel construction. 2.5 is small but perfect for 2-4 people and large enough for vegtables. I recommend this to NEW pressure cooker users as it is much less intimadating than many others.

I bought this for my mom who likes cooking multi-grains with it. She was extremely happy with it: simple to use, solid built quality and easy to clean. All was well until it developed an unexpected leak. Because it happened after the 30-day period, Amazon told me to deal with the company directly. When I called, the nice person shipped a replacement immediately and arranged to pick up my defective one with sincere apology. If it weren't for the defect, I would have given it 5 star rating. I guess it's bound to happen, but my positive experience with the customer service made the defect seem almost forgettable. The new one is working flawlessly.

Not inexpensive but these people knew what they were doing and I don't think this device could ever blow up even if you tried for it. It has a cutout in the rim so that the pressure actually pushes out the gasket ring before the pressure gets to dangerous levels even if the valve was ever to fail - and I am sure that was done by people with academic degrees in mechanical engineering and not left to chance and these guys did test that many times over and the cutout is designed just right and proper. The main valve does some good whistling noise when you forget to turn it down and the pressure gets higher than what it is supposed to, like those old tea kettles. And the main valve guards the pressure too and releases steam before it gets dangerous, the gasket ring cutout is just a backup. But you really do want that backup and you do want that done by people you trust in testing this. The pot comes apart in some quick and simple moves so that the steel and rubber parts can go into the dishwasher, the plastic parts are not supposed to and don't need to. Pressure cookers are inherently dangerous, this one has evolved over decades, don't take any chances, if you want a pressure cooker - and I recommend them, they do work incredibly well - spend the money, you won't regret it. There are pots that look like this one, but be careful, the devil is in the details - if you get a knock-off Rolex, it will probably not kill you. A knock-off pressure cooker might do just that. It is easy to just forget it on the stove with the heat turned up, and if you ever do, you really do want this one on your stove and not the one that somewhat resembles this one. There might be other good ones too, but this one I know.

WMF Pressure Cooker,

I have owned one of these for 15 years. It works perfectly. You must not overfill the cooker. This would contribute to it not working properly.I use it for soups, pasta sauce, & stews. If you use it for bean soup you must be very careful. It is necessary to soak the beans overnight and not fill the cooker more than half full.

i purchased a 2 1/2 qt WMF pressure cooker. from the beginning the valve that closes by means of the steam pressure lifting a 'ball-bearing' to close a hole in a rubber safety plug sometimes closed, sometimes did not.once when it did not i was out of the room: burned pot; burned contents; fire alarms; smoky smell in house for weeks. when i finally found the office of the company and described what had happened i was told how great their engineers were and how many of their products had been sold world-wide for many years. in effect, i was probably lying, but i could return the pot for their inspection. i did. ultimately WMF replaced it [while i was shopping for a reliable product manufactured by someone else]. the guage on the replacement is now stuck open, making it unuseable. i still haven't been able to find the direct address of the manufacturer to ask for my money back [although i suppose the probability of receiving 3 lemons are in my favor]. my advice: stay away from WMF's poorly manufactured product and insulting response to complaints! |
