Product Description

In this new design for classic whisks, the individual beaded wires make short work of both mixing and washing. Eleven long wires surround one shorter one, and with the independent movement and extra weight provided by the end bead, air is incorporated much more thoroughly into whisked food. For example, a pint of chilled cream whipped about 30% faster, while eggs for omelets took about five seconds. Washing is simpler, too. There are no little crevices for thickened liquid to get caught in, and it's dishwasher-safe. If there is any drawback at all, it's that you may overbeat food the first use or two--after that, you're sure to remember to adjust the time. --Jill Lightner

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful form, just OK function February 15, 2009
By Mary
This is a beautiful whisk, isn't it? I think it's so pretty displayed in a kitchen tools crock or hanging from a rack. It's fairly easy to clean and I like that bits of food don't get stuck in it in the way ingredients get trapped in a balloon whisk. As for performance, it's great with thin liquids like raw eggs, juices, gravies, and sauces. Once you start to get into batters - forget it. It just can't power through the way a balloon whisk can get through the more heavyweight tasks. There is a place for this whisk in most kitchens, but it can't exist by itself. You'll need a traditional whisk to round out the tools team.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best whisk ever! January 8, 2002
By S. Van
A dream come true for beating and airating. This is what I reach for instead of balloon whisks, which don't make contact with the bottoms of mixing bowl or pan. Because each of the individual "legs" moves and beats independently, it beats much faster than traditional balloon whisks. Very comfortable to use. I've recommended this and given away many as gifts to cooking friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant. December 7, 2004

I love this whisk for two reasons. First, it works great. When you're whisking a vinaigrette with a conventional whisk, you're likely to leave mustard clumps at the bottom of the bowl unless you take an unnaturally long time. The balls on this thing bring it all up very quickly. Similarly for a soup on the stove that you don't want to burn. So it works better than other things in many circumstances. It's also much easier to clean.

Second, it is a beautiful everyday reminder than even in the most well-travelled areas there is always room for innovation. Not everything has been thought of! Call me crazy, but this fuels my optimism about the world, which means that having this whisk around makes a difference in my life.

I own two sizes having bought a larger one first. I would buy only this one if I were doing it again. I tend to cook for one, two or sometimes four people. If you cook large volumes of stuff you might want a larger one.

5.0 out of 5 stars So easy to clean!
Makes things so much easier for cleanup. Also, seems to do a better job mixing, fluffing, and whipping than the usual wire whisk.
