Taika looks as if it has been stretched, extremely slim and graceful (The knife measures 9-1/2 inches in length, while the fork and soup spoon measure 9 inches) The final outcome of this, is the merging of the handle and blade of the knife into one. The formal austerity of the lines is counterbalanced by soft rounded contours at the end of the handle. They give it grace. The proportions are stretched to the extreme, reaching beyond boundaries to establish a link with Asian dining culture. This set was purchased as a gift and I have to say that the quality is very nice. I have never owned any WMF products myself, only knew them by name until now. WMF is one of the leading producers of stainless steel cookware, I knew that, but in some cases the story is better than the truth. With this set that does not seem to be the case. The only knock I have on them is that they are not made in Germany but in China, however, the quality is up to WMF and German standards. As I said already, this set was purchased as a gift but the set I am waiting on right now was purchased for myself. It would not be your everyday flatware but will impress your guests when you have them over for the holidays.

I was skeptical about general usability of this set but have to say, they are not awkward to use at all. The dessert forks and teaspoons are truly tiny - I mean tiny - but I think they are very cute. No problems for me to use them as intended - for dessert or coffee.
I use this set as my primary flatware, everyday. They are holding up perfectly after 5 months of regular use and dishwashing - not a scratch on them and no dulling of the finish that I can see. They are simply beautiful. I am not keen on the "china" stamp either, but at this price I am not complaining. I saw this set (though presumably made in Germany) in fine department stores all over Europe for around 800 euros after I bought mine from Amazon. They looked and felt the same in hand as mine do, so I really don't think these are of lesser quality. I can definitely live with that stamp.
