This set was purchased as a gift and I have to say that the quality is very nice. I have never owned any WMF products myself, only knew them by name until now. WMF is one of the leading producers of stainless steel cookware, I knew that, but in some cases the story is better than the truth. With this set that does not seem to be the case. The only knock I have on them is that they are not made in Germany but in China, however, the quality is up to WMF and German standards. As I said already, this set was purchased as a gift but the set I am waiting on right now was purchased for myself. It would not be your everyday flatware but will impress your guests when you have them over for the holidays.

I was skeptical about general usability of this set but have to say, they are not awkward to use at all. The dessert forks and teaspoons are truly tiny - I mean tiny - but I think they are very cute. No problems for me to use them as intended - for dessert or coffee.

I use this set as my primary flatware, everyday. They are holding up perfectly after 5 months of regular use and dishwashing - not a scratch on them and no dulling of the finish that I can see. They are simply beautiful.

I am not keen on the "china" stamp either, but at this price I am not complaining. I saw this set (though presumably made in Germany) in fine department stores all over Europe for around 800 euros after I bought mine from Amazon. They looked and felt the same in hand as mine do, so I really don't think these are of lesser quality. I can definitely live with that stamp.

Both the price and quality are unbelievable.... Got them when they were cheaper than usual.. amazing set!

The Taika flateware is our dream since 1997 but it was too expensive (approx. 800,- Euro) so we never purchased it.
But one year ago we've purchased this set of the flateware due to the fact that it was over 90% cheaper than in Germany!
We weren't expencting a lot for that price.....but when it arrived we were very supprised about the quality and durability! Till today no dulling of the finish or any scratches and it's our everyday flatware!
We were so supprised and excited that we purchased a second set one month after the frist arrived!
The only differences between the German and the Chinese sets are that this sets are made in China and that the German knife has an additional serrated edge.
So..Get it and be happy!

I recently bought my first house, and decided to get some actual nice looking silverware and dishes to go in it. This flatware set is GORGEOUS. The proportions do seem a bit weird at first, with the regular spoon and fork looking huge and the dessert spoon and fork looking tiny. However I wouldn't say that the size makes them any less functional. I actually use the dessert spoons and forks quite often for regular meals because I like to take smaller bites, but my boyfriend generally prefers the regular spoons and forks.

My set does have the WMF stamp, but it doesn't say China. The stamp is also barely noticeable, I would say you have to be paying attention or looking for it, which guests are unlikely to be doing.

Our dishwasher isn't installed in the new house yet, so I'm not sure how they do in the dishwasher, but the mirror finish shows water spots very well if we don't towel-dry them after handwashing. However with proper wiping they really gleam.

Overall the set looks delicate but feels sturdy. It is definitely solid steel, and has a heft like an item of quality. I wouldn't say that they are too heavy, since their relative narrowness cuts down on the overall weight. I also don't see any reason to reserve these for special occasions, since the 18/10 stainless will basically last forever regardless of how often it's used. Then again, I think that having two sets of silverware is silly in the first place, so I'm glad that these are both sturdy and beautiful and I can use them for everything.

I love the design of this set, but wasn't sure if the quality would be good. I bought the first set 15 months ago, and it's our everyday flatware. It still looks new after repeated use and dishwashing, so I'm back to buy a second one, just so I won't run out of forks when I host parties.

Yes, it has 'WMF China' marked on them. But the quality is excellent. I remembered years ago I saw the "No.1" series on a magazine, the design was ahead of the time. This set feature is the long lines, and the smallish tea spoon and desert fork. At first I thought the little fork is a bit too little. But when I was eating a piece of cheese cake with it, ah-ha ! Now I am eating and TASTING the cake at the same time. With a larger fork that I used to eat, I was eating only.

Definitely one of the best quality buy on Amazon.

WMF is with good reputation of their high quality silverware products. I recently purchase this flatware set and I am very pleased with the quality and the design.

Might be okay as a minimalist setting for semi-formal occasions but for every day use the extended shapes that give the unique look are likely to be in the way. The knifes are not serrated which is another draw back for everyday use.
