will USB port on WNDR3700 work for a printer? Is it possible to connect a USB printer instead of an external hard drive to the router? Or do I need to buy a separate print server? Thanks!

Ben,

I'm in the same boat. The 3500 reviews are much worse, but possibly for older firmware. You need to get a V2 for good performance, or an NAS or L model for networked storage (included on this one).

This model has a 5ghz band for faster throughput, but it seems to trade shorter range.

I'm leaning toward this one.

That's a rather harsh statement. I'm using a WNDR3700 in a mostly MacOS household and it is working just fine both on 2.4GHz and on 5GHz. It is also providing access to an external USB drive, as a media server. No complaints here about the WNDR3700.

How about the WNR3500L-100NAS (Rangemax Open Source Wrls N Gigabit Router with USB) is it any better?
