I bought this to be able to record lectures and put them onto CD or listen to them in my car. The Wolverine works on one AAA battery which is simple and easy to replace. Since it's a flash drive, you can jostle and drop (lightly) it and it still keeping running. The voice recording quality is very poor and playback is only on the unit. you can't transfer files to the computer or to cd. The earbuds it comes with aren't very good quality as expected.

Over all the machine is pretty easy to use with USB plug in and your mp3 files transfer within seconds from your computer. no software necessary for ME/2000/XP. This is a great simple mp3 player or portable file device for starters or the young, but not for folks like me that wan to do more with their files. Easy navigation from file to file, but it doens't allow for multiple playlists. It' small and sleek with a protective rubbery coating to prevent scratches.

This is the second MP3 player I try. Sound quality is very good and it is compatible with all earphones I had tried on it. it is very easy to use so it can be use right out of the box. The player connect directly to the PC so there is no need for cables if you have front USB or use a laptop. It can be used as a USB jump drive and 1GB is good enough for file transfer. It's price is among the best in the 1 GB category and it comes with a FM transmitter (use 2 AAA) which no other player offered and this device can be very handy if you like to play your MP3 in the car receiver or in a stereo without MP3 capabilities. The earphones it comes with are collar type which at first look I didn't like but later I found then very practical. Screen backlight change in many color like blue, green, red and orange. I test the recorder and found it ok for this little device. In the package came: 1GB MP3 Player, earphones, FM transmitter, USB extension cable, Audio In cable, Rubber Case, Mini CD with software, a very small manual and one AAA battery.

The cons. I find in this product are:

- FM tuner would have completed the package.

- The player and the earphones are White what means it will get dirty easily. If they were black, red or blue they would look better. I suppose they tried to make it look like the Ipod model. They should at least make the Earphones black or dark gray.

- The material it is made of looks cheap and seems it may brake easily.

-It is hard to take the player out of it's rubber case.

-The player doesn't have a hole to hook the collar. Instead the collar earphones holds to a tiny rubber grip in the rubber case which may brake easily.

-When it is in pause, it plays a sound like a little mice. This sound has something to do with the LCD screen. This really don't bother me.

-Armband for sport use not included.

-USB extension too short.

Who cares of recording voices of course it will not be good, how can you get a quality mike to fit in this package size, what idiot would tape lectures with it, buy a cassette recorder, I got this for music and the quality is awesome, the size is great and 1 gig of memmory is great. I would recommend it for music or digitized lectures on CD ROM (after being converted to the proper formats), mp3s or other compression formats that are compatable with this unit.
