Verified Purchase
This was a second rate tool from a third rate supplier. I recently purchased a ¾" threading kit from Tool USA.COM through Amazon and I am very disappointed. This kit consists of a wooden die block, and a steel tap. My disappointment comes from two separate issues. The first is that despite the implication of the supplier's name, this kit is not American made. In fact it is Chinese made and of exactly the low quality that is typically associated with that country. I accept that you only get what you pay for, but for a purchase price of $41.56 I had expected something better. My other issue with this purchase, and the real reason that I am taking the time to write this review, is that I paid for a brand new tool but the tool that I received in the mail had clearly been previously used. My first clue was that the packaging that my kit came in looked ill handled as though it had been opened. That's okay. I didn't buy this for its cardboard box, and stuff happens. No problem right? But as soon as I took the wooden die block out of its plastic bag I couldn't help but notice that it was dirty and dented as though it had been banging around on someone's workbench for a while. Upon further inspection I noticed that there were actual wood shavings trapped inside of the die's ejection port. Feeling suspicious, I disassembled the die to take a look at its steel cutter. Sure enough, the cutter's edge was dull and nicked. This was not a slightly used tool; it was a heavily used and abused tool which had been delivered in unusable condition. In the end, because I was under time constraints to finish the project for which this tool had been purchased, I resharpened both the tap and the die and then soldiered on, but I would not under any circumstances ever make a purchase from this company again.
