Even though they are "wood rasps" I got these to work on a sculpture project (soapstone) and I was VERY glad that I did so. I used all three of the files and they came in very handy, especially the half-round one. The handle on each is very helpful and they are good quality teeth that are tough, so be careful when you start to use them. They are pretty substantial, so even with bringing them back and forth to and from school I wasn't worried about them snapping off at the handle like I have had other tools do. Part of the reason why is because these have the file flush with the handle rather than having it narrow at the base - since this space is filled, that stress point is not as vulnerable and thus less prone to breaking when I would knock them over or drop them. I am very happy with them and if I needed a replacement set I would get this again.

The older I get, the more I appreciate comfortable, quality tools. These wood rasps are just what I wanted for getting the job done. They are a nice addition to my toolbox.

The quality of the set exceeded my expectations. The rubber handles are much easier to use than the usual wood. Exceptionally fast delivery from Grizzly.

I bought these to rasp some wood down which I'm using for making long bows. If you want a fast way to shave down wood for shaping/carving, these are an excellent design.

My only issue was due to the handle coming loose my first use. The plastic handle on the flat rasp handle came loose and made it hard to use. I ended up drilling a hole completely through the plastic handle and metal using a titanium bit and hammered in a metal dowel to keep the handle from coming off again.

Note: Altering the rasp as so could weaken it!! I have shopped around and noticed that many rasp kits come with handles NOT already on the rasp itself? I'm hoping I'm just a super-novice?

In any case, the project took me at least an hour longer than needed and now I worry for the other 2 handles in my kit could break loose.

3 Stars for shaving fast and clean, -2 for possibly faulty plastic handle.

For the price, these worked out great. The handles are comfortable and the teeth make quick work of the wood.

I don't have a huge, constant need for files- so I bought cheap ones. One of the handles is not secured properly to the actual file- so there's some give. I didn't care too much until I tried to use it. That was fairly annoying.

But... the chances of one of your files being loose as well is minimal- so if you need fairly cheap files, 11 bucks isn't too bad. If you're really going to use these things- look elsewhere and spend more money.

I purchased these knowing they were cheap and you get what you pay for, and I will say they are very poor quality. The teeth are all over the place out of the box and it doesnt cut very well but it will work for roughing up wood.
