I wish I had known this before I bought it. Especially in a book of organizational tips, not being able to get an overview of the tips is a major disappointment to me.

I also did not learn anything new in this book - if you have read other organizing books, I think you also will not find anything new.

In each chapter I learned a valuable tip in getting organized and being productive by Working Smart, Not Hard! "CHANGE IS GOOD!" chapter taught me to be open minded to new ideas and accept change in a healthy and positive way. "The PEND System" is a simple tool yet very effective. If you want to be one of those people that are admired for getting everything done, having a PEND System will lead you on your way to that achievement. This book provides a wealth of information that will allow anyone to become more successful and organized in both their professional and personal life. As an Executive Assistant supporting 5 very busy managers, I implemented Jane's tools immediately and have found a much better sense of peace at work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic tools for organization, May 5, 2009
This review is from: WORK SMART, Not Hard!: Organizational Tips and Tools That Will Change Your Life! (Paperback)
This book is an easy read, and is packed with so many tools that anyone can use to get organized. I started using some of the ideas and tools about a year ago, and have gradually worked my way up to using them all. I feel so much more "on top of things" now. I recommend this book to everyone - even those who think that they are already masters of organization. (Because I thought that I was, but these tools enhanced some of what I was doing, and totally changed other habits that I had formed!) If you are interested in growing professionally and being organized in work and home life, then this book is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't give up - get organized, February 2, 2009

Everyday when I came in to work, I felt defeated even before my day began. Tasks would already be piled up in my email inbox and I could not wrap my mind around all of the different tasks and projects coming at me. So I began a search of ways to become more organized thinking that would help, and I found WORK SMART, Not Hard. I read the book in under an hour and began implementing some of the ideas, and already my desk is cleared of clutter, my files are organized, and I am not constantly writing little post-it notes everywhere as reminders. It takes awile to really implement new habits but these ideas have helped me. I highly recommend the book. It is an easy read and a great desk companion.

This review is from: WORK SMART, Not Hard!: Organizational Tips and Tools That Will Change Your Life! (Paperback)
I read "Work Smart, Not Hard" in less than 1 hour. Within 24 hours I had organized a much needed desk at work, 2 drawers at home and a closet that was driving me out of mind! To make the situation even better, I have carried "Work Smart, Not Hard" with me and continue to perfect the areas in my life that seemed to get cluttered for one reason or another. If prioritizing your life is a genuine concern and why wouldn't it be? Take the time to read Chapter 3, Start Here-And Do These Things Every Day.
This book has made a huge impression on my life, personally and professionally.

I wish I had known this before I bought it. Especially in a book of organizational tips, not being able to get an overview of the tips is a major disappointment to me.

I also did not learn anything new in this book - if you have read other organizing books, I think you also will not find anything new.

The author describes herself as a real estate agent - to me the tips are appropriate for someone in a role like that - where you are essentially repeating the same basic function over and over again. But most people that I meet who are looking for time management support are creatives - people whose work is not so predictable. This book does not address these issues.
