The auto-tension system includes a single, oversized knob that secures the bar and chain and maintains proper tension during operation--automatically. The WORX auto-tensioning system also works to extend bar and chain life by eliminating any chance of over-tightening.
What's more, all-metal dogs at the base of the long, 16-inch bar help add stability during cutting, while an easy-to-lubricate sprocket on the bar nose helps preserve the life of the tool.

Gas-Free, Hassle-Free Operation
The WORX WG303 is powered by electricity, so it produces no noxious emissions. Different from gas-powered chain saws, the WG303 doesn't require you to mix oil and gas or deal with difficult startups. And unlike the competition, the WG303 features an automatic oiler that provides constant lubrication to both the bar and chain. Just as all WORX models, the WG303 is equipped with a 6.75-ounce oil reservoir with an oil level indicator.

Wonderful Saw. The auto chain adjustment feature is great, just turn the knob until it stops and go. Balance is excellent and electric motor has plenty of power. Very easy to use, just open box, read the manual, add old (supplied), clip the tie wrap holding the blade guard, plug in, put on your safety gear and cut. Saw is quiet equal to a heavy duty drill but with a lower pitch. Note due to the 14.5 Amp power draw a 12/3 extension cord is required for a 100 foot run US Wire 74100 12/3 100-Feet SJTW Yellow Heavy-Duty Lighted Extension Cord, or 14/3 for 50 feet or less.
What I like is that the electric motor starts on demand, and there is no gas to store. Note the bar and chain oil has almost no odor.
Issues. When cutting wet wood, debris will build up under the drive sprocket cover plate. When done for the day or when adding more oil, unplug and remove the cover to clean this area out. : Note the chain adjustment knob has some internal feature that prevents it from wanting to turn Counter Clockwise, It takes a hard twist CCW in order to break it free and then you can unscrew it to remove the cover.
The small bottle of bar and chain oil is just enough to fill up the unit. Recommend you purchase an extra bottle for topping off.
I hit some dirt which dulled the chain instantly. Resharpening with a 5/32" (4mm) round file is not too difficult but is time consuming. Note the chain cannot be rotated by hand, so to sharpen, the entire bar and chain must be removed 1/2 way through to manually rotate the chain. Since sharpening is time consuming, I recommend purchasing a replacement chain for back up. The manual says use replacement chain Oregon 91VG067X. The [...] website says use Oregon 16" type S57 chain. The "S" defines the shape of the cutting teeth. The "57" = 57 links. Amazon Oregon 16-Inch Semi Chisel Chain Saw Chain Fits Cub Cadet, Echo, John Deere, Shindaiwa S57, or Home Depot Model # S57H, or Lowes model # S57L.
Hints -
- If you buy a file, tie wrap or rubber band it to the blade protection cover so it won't get lost.
- using a permanent marker put "oregon S57" on the unit so you will know the replacement chain type.
- Use a 12 gauge extension cord
What would make it better.
1. A larger bottle of chain oil.
2. include a 5/32 file with the kit
Update after a month: Have used to prune 2 maple trees and cut all the larger branches into 16" firewood. Very happy with my purchase and that I chose an Electric saw. No fiddling with gas oil mixtures or trying to start it after weeks of storage and I can store it indoors. I have been able to use it comfortably without ear plugs as it only makes noise when cutting ( vs. the idle of gas saw). For medium sized suburban yard use, electric is the way to go.

I've got an acre of jungle to clear in the Kona Coffee belt on the island of Hawai'i, and I'm perhaps 1/4 the way through it. Trees up to 18" diameter, mostly 10" - 14", up to 30' tall. This saw rocks! Fall, limb, buck up, on to the next tree. The automatic tensioner works great, the saw itself is fairly light in weight, but powerful enough to motor on through the wood. As long as I keep the chain out of the dirt and the rocks, with a sharp chain, it cuts through the wood very well. I don't know what Kendall's problem was, I think he may not know about the chain brake. You have to pull the chain brake back into the operating position before the saw will run, it's a safety feature. I like this saw a lot, it's an excellent value for the $$.

We have had other electric chain saws before and this one beats the rest. Easy to adjust the blade and easy to monitor and refill the oil. It cut well, even through hard wood.

Oil leak when not in use

very easy to use
