4.0 out of 5 stars WoW still needs work, but this DVD is worth it., December 19, 2003

This review is from: WOW Hits 2004: 18 of the Year's Top Christian Artists and Music Video Hits (DVD)
When you read the following huge review, please note that I never judge a music video by only it's music. I watch a video because it's good- not because of it's music (that's where CD's come in). But apparently executives who organize this DVD don't care, because of the 18 "Top Christian Music Videos" only 10 or so really make the cut of good, and if these are really the TOP music videos in the industry, then we have a long way to go till we catch up with the world. Read on.

Show Me Your Glory (Third Day)
This is Third Day singing a really good song live, and it's been videotaped. It's a polished video, even though there are some bad cuts. Solid, but not great.

He Reigns (Newsboys)
Watch this music video and you will get touched, if you think of it. Just the proclamation that everyone, everywhere, at any time, proclaims that the Lord reigns! It's a very good music video, and the Newsboys music is the driving point behind it! You will at least like this video, if not love it!

Stuck (Stacie Orrico)
A great music video, it's got a story, she can "act" the lyrics, and the music is great. If I remember how High school was, it's a great representation! Never felt that, but I have heard and seen it enough! Many young teens will like this video, especially young teen girls. But I'm not one, so please don't make that a promise! Very, very good.

All About Love (Steven Curtis Chapman)
Another Live music video makes it to WoW. It's good, it's solid. It's normal.

You Get ME (ZOEgirl)
It's a nice video, it's a nice song. But it's again normal. But I have a problem- one of the lead singers is playing a guitar- and I don't think there is an acoustic anywhere in the soundtrack that I hear. It really feels like that the producer asked the singers "Do you play an instrument?", the singer said yes, and he just threw it in. It's my perception- I am probably wrong. But it's a solid video.

I need you (Jars Of Clay)
For a Live soundtrack, it could have more dynamics to it. And as I said, it's live. Why these can make it to the Top 18 is still hard to swallow.

Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, &.... (Relient K)
Hilarious! I want to know where they found old people that would be so willing for what they did! If anything, this music video, along with 12 Stones and Newsboys's videos make this DVD worth buying it. It's a great video! Kudos to all the old people!

Breathe Your Name (Sixpence)
It's a very good music video but it's disturbing. Because I have yet to figure out what the video has to do with the song. It's good entertainment- it's about a bunch of "paranoid" people and goes through a lot of different things- really nice to look at! I would say a great music video!

Legacy (Nichole Nordeman)
A really nice and touching music video- talks about regular people who can make a lot of changes and leave a Legacy in doing small things- like teaching, parenthood, ICU specialist- can make a change in lives! A really nice video and deserves a lot of credit.

Ready To Fly (FFH)
Want to see some of New York? Watch this video. It's not really worth much more, unless you want to see images with this song.

O Praise Him (Passion- David Crowder Band)
A live video, but better than others, because it's a worship song that can be really be great- and it's sound mix includes the crowd mix so that it really feels live! Unlike Chapman's, and Jars Of Clay's music videos, this one is worth watching!

The Way I Feel (12 Stones)
Wow. Something that so few music groups in the Christian realm can explain, this rock band has hit with an amazing music video! The video portrays the hurt, rejection, and confusion many Chrisitan youth can go through when they make their faith public. It's a great representation, the producer of that video should really, really get a Dove award!

Run (Kutless)
Good music video, not really anything to write home about. It's a well-polished video, and it's theme is relationships. What else, not really sure what to write.

I Thank You (Rebecca St. James)
Americans will understand the theme- if I showed this to my German friends they would think it's just American subbornes! St James did a great music video to pay a tribute to the American Armed Forces, the services and their members, with lots of patriotic pictures and sound clips from major speeches and phone calls of support. It really helps pay tribute to the soldiers, airmen, and marines who will do what they are ordered to with utter devotion.

Understand (Jeremy Camp)
How this got to "Top 18 Music Videos" is not quite clear. Like others before it, it's well polished with a lot of creative imagery, but again nothing special. A solid music video to some great music.

All My People (Lil iROCC)
Not quite sure what to make of it. Solid. But werid. Where did this kid come from? Is he just the "Christian Answer" to Lil BowWow? And did I get that other artist's name right? You will not be annoyed by the video too much.

Sink-N-Swim (Plumb)
On the first viewing, the mouth movements of the lead singer has gotten to me by the second verse- there's something wrong there! It's produced in a very single-person angle. And the worst part- she just stands in a blue room, with two couches, and sings (or lip-syncs) with a microphone. This cannot be a Top 18 contender. But I guess I don't know about record labels, do I?

The Other Side of the Radio (Chris Rice):
It's nice but I would never watch it again. Feels poorly produced, and the "creative imeragy" is just too creative for me.

My suggestion is that this video is worth the $12 or so, but don't expect more than a couple wonders. The labels need to crack down and actually make it more of a "contest" than a "sampler" of what the records are trying to push. And I wish they would put subtitles in it, like they did back in 2002 (I believe). Bottom line: Buy It! It's a nice DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW indeed!, September 8, 2004
This review is from: WOW Hits 2004: 18 of the Year's Top Christian Artists and Music Video Hits (DVD)
I've only recently begun buying & watching the WOW series on DVD (both the WOW Hits & WOW Worship lines). WOW is a very fitting title for this series which showcases videos from great Christian artists in a broad variety of musical styles. Some of my favorite clips on WOW Hits 2004 include Third Day "Show Me Your Glory (Live)," Newsboys "He Reigns," Jars of Clay "I Need You (Live)," 12 Stones "The Way I Feel," and Sixpence None The Richer "Breathe Your Name." I also like Stephen Curtis Chapman's "All About Love" and Rebecca St. James' "I Thank You," which is done as a video tribute to U.S. servicemen and women serving in Iraq & Afghanistan. This is an excellent collection of music videos from some of the best Christian artists around today. WOW indeed!

This review is from: Wow Hits 2004 (Jewel Case) (DVD)
An incredibly inspiring collection of music. I have been searching for Christian music that is produced and performed as well as secular music...this is it!! I bought it blind hoping for one or two tracks of mediocre music. This DVD totally blew me away. Finally! It has taken me to levels of worship I never thought possible. I will recommend it to everyone I know and plan to give it away as a gift to people that I want to make an moving impression for Jesus on. It is amazing.

This review is from: WOW Hits 2004: 18 of the Year's Top Christian Artists and Music Video Hits (DVD)
This is quite good.

There are a couple of reasons I rank it down. One is that some of the songs on the dvd aren't the songs that are on the CD. However the replacement songs are quite good.

Another is some songs are I just scratch my about about why they are even on there.

Another ( ok this is now 3 reasons... ) I can't understand the words so you have to go on line to find the words ( and even then you might still not have the foggiest idea of what the song is about ( Jars of Clay song for example, which I loved, just couldn't understand what the heck he was talking about... )

That being said some of the songs are just terrific

Overall well worth the purchase

This is an awesome collection of music...When I bought it, it was intended to be a gift for my dad, but then once I recieved it I decided I wanted to keep it for myself (for it had tons of songs I love on it) and that I would get him a different gift. I have watched it tons and tons of times since buying it. If you are a music video collector I recommend you buy this collection for it is awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best One!!!!, June 7, 2007
This review is from: WOW Hits 2004: 18 of the Year's Top Christian Artists and Music Video Hits (DVD)
This one is the Best i have seen so far andI have a few other WoW Dvds (list: 2003,2006,2007, and WoW Worship) The Music on this one has more my style which is more pop or upbeat (which is why i like it) then a hymm or gospel tune to it and not too much ROCK or Harder music. The music videos have already been listed so i dont need to. But two of the better songs and videos on here are "You Get Me" whish has an awsome background (which is what i look for in music videos) and "RUN" which is a good song by itself but the video goes well with it. I Recommend getting this DvD out of All the other ones!!!
