When we had DirecTV, my son enjoyed watching Wow Wow Wubbzy. Me, I enjoyed the upbeat, funny rhyming "music videos"!

For those unfamiliar with the show, here's the low down on the three main characters: Wubbzy is a yellow square-like creature with a twisty tail, and his favorite thing to play is "kickety-kick ball". His friend Widget is a pink creature with rabbit-like ears who loves to fix or invent things (often ending her creations in "3000"). Walden is a bespectabled creature who is the intellectual of the group, enjoying learning new things and dispensing information.

A Tale of Tails DVD is the first DVD release of the Wow Wow Wubbzy show, and it comes wrapped in a cool holographic sleeve. This 92 minute DVD includes these episodes:

*A Tale of Tails
*Special Delivery
*Widget's Wild Ride
*Attach of the 50-Foot Fleegle
*Come Spy with Me
*Wubbzy Tells a Whopper
*Mt. Fizzy Pop
*Puddle Muddle

On the menu, there is the ability to play just the "music videos" interspersed within the episodes (sadly, for me, "It Doesn't Have to Be By the Book" isn't on this particular DVD).

The DVD-ROM features are a Ring Toss Game, Coloring Pages and Party Printables for a "Wubb-ified" party.

The insert also includes an image search game How Many Wubbzys Can You Find?

If your child is a rabid fan of Wow Wow Wubbzy, he/she will likely enjoy this colorful DVD. While the cartoon might irritate parents after a while, there are some great social lessons in this DVD (such as not touching the property of others without their permission, self acceptance when "different", and the consequences of lying), as well as catchy, upbeat tunes reinforcing these lessons.

My son enjoyed watching them all over again and is glad to have the DVD!

I dare you to listen to the Wubbzy theme song and not sing along.
No, I DOUBLE dare ya!!

Although this loveable cartoon is for a much younger age group (preschool), older kids will also get a kick out the funny characters and Pac-Man style simple animation.

The main character is a squarish yellow creature with a long tail that can bend into any shape, including a spring, which he uses from time to time for rapid locomotion. His friends are an overly-enthusiastic female rabbit inventor named Widget, and a bespectacled and very intelligent purple creature named Walden. Each has a catch phrase of their own, which kids will soon be repeating ad nauseam.

This DVD contains 8 episodes from Season One, and is the first DVD released from the series.

Each episode has a positive message for kids, such as being comfortable with who you are; not touching things that don't belong to you; telling the truth; the importance of reading instructions; the joys of having friends, and much more.

It may drive parents crazy, but kids will love it. So the next time your child utters the phrase "That's koooky", rest assured that he/she heard it on this show, and not from your psychiatrist or mother-in-law.

Darn! Now I'll be singing it for days

"Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" will bring many hours of enjoyment to your children while teaching them valuable lessons concerning life. Welcome to the psychedelic world of Wuzzleburg; it is populated by "kooky" animal/human creatures resembling those found in a Dr. Seuss book. Wubbzy is an adorable, carefree yellow "dog" with an extremely long, crooked tail. His friends are very intellectual. One of them is a female pink "rabbit" - Widget - who is an inventor of machines; she is always tinkering with gadgets. The other is a purple "cat" - Walden - who wears glasses and is always reading books; he is the proverbial book worm. Together, the three friends get in all kinds of hilarious mischief in whacky Wuzzleburg. Each of the eight episodes teaches a valuable lesson: (WARNING! There are plot spoilers in each episode synopsis. I want parents to know exactly what their children are learning.)

1. "A Tail of Tales." The other children won't play with Wubbzy and his kickity kick ball because his tail is long and crooked. Some say its "kooky." However, with his tail, Wubbzy helps Widget stop her runaway chicken robot. Therefore, Wubbzy learns that being different is good.

2. "Special Delivery." Because Walden is away from home, the postman delivers Walden's package to Wubbzy. Unable to resist temptation, he opens it and there are disastrous consequences. He learns that one shouldn't play with someone else's toys without asking. (One should also read directions before operating a toy.) Furthermore, Wubbzy is taught that if something isn't yours, you shouldn't touch it!

3. "Widget's Wild Ride." Wubbzy has his heart set on winning the Wuzzleburg Derby. Widget tries to help Wubbzy by adding a lot of high tech features to his racecar. Unfortunately, the car falls apart. However, it has been equipped with wings. Wubbzy, Widget, and Walden fly through the mountains. Wubbzy forgets about winning the race because he is having too much fun with his friends. Having friends, he learns, is more important than winning a contest.

4. "Attack of the 50-Foot Fleegle." This episode is packed with strange pets with stranger names which made me think of a Dr. Seuss book. It was also one of my favorite episodes because the Fleegle is like a Gremlin. There are certain rules in its care that you must follow or there will be disastrous consequences. Wubbzy throws away the care manual and feeds candy to his tiny pet Fleegle. Soon it is growing into a monster. Walden reads his books and eventually learns that you don't feed candy to a Fleegle. Carrot juice, however, will shrink it back to normal size. Wubbzy learns that having a pet is a big responsibility; you must learn about your pet when you adopt one. In fact, you should always read the operating/care instructions when you purchase anything.

5. "Come Spy With Me." Wubbzy and Widget decide to dress like secret agents and spy on Walden who is keeping a secret. They follow him through town; he goes to the library and a fast food restaurant. Their spying ends in the mountains where Walden has been planning a surprise picnic for them to eat while they watch shooting stars. Wubbzy learns that you shouldn't spy on people. Everyone has a right to keep secrets.

6. "Wubbzy Tells A Whopper." This is another one of my favorite episodes; it was hilarious. Wubbzy accidentally breaks Widget's whammer hammer. Instead of telling her the truth, he claims that a big hairy monster with sharp fangs - a growlygus - stole it. Soon the entire town of Wuzzleburg is panicked by the thought of a growlygus in their midst. Pandemonium and mayhem are rampant. When Wubbzy himself is scared by what he perceives to be a growlygus, he finally confesses the truth. Wubbzy learns that it is always best to tell the truth.

7. "Mt. Fizzy Pop." - Bonus Episode - The dreaded Mt. Fizzy Pop on Dino Island is threatening to erupt and undulate Wuzzleburg with sour milky-milk. Wubbzy, Widget, and Walden bravely travel to the island. With the help of some dinosaur friends, they reach the summit of the volcano. Wubbzy's grape juice is accidentally spilled inside. The volcano erupts but great tasting grape ice cream falls onto Wuzzleburg. Wubbzy learns that we can overcome difficult situations when we all work together.

8. "Puddle Muddle." - Bonus Episode - Wubbzy is getting together with his friends for their annual photograph. Each time Wubbzy gets dressed in one of his "kooky" outfits, he falls into a mud puddle. Finally Widget invents a large plastic ball that Wubbzy can travel in so that he doesn't get muddy. Wubbzy arrives at the photographer's studio but is distracted by a call for help. He becomes muddy trying to rescue an elderly woman's parrot. His friends tell him not to be upset. Helping a person in need is more important than staying clean. Wubbzy learns the importance of helping others.

All eight episodes of "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" are presented in full screen. The video and audio are excellent which is to be expected since they are being released by Anchor Bay, which has a reputation for releasing high quality films. Also, I am thankful that closed captioning for the hearing impaired has been provided. Many American adults, including myself, are hearing impaired. I'm sure there will be children watching this DVD who also suffer from this affliction.

Inside the DVD case is a ten-page booklet. The first two pages lists the following DVD features: 1) Main Menu: Welcome to Wuzzleburg!; 2) Episodes; 3) Music Videos; 4) Ring Toss Game; 5) Coloring Pages; 6) Party Printables; and 7) Sneak Peeks. Pages 3 and 4 provide a listing of each episode along with a brief synopsis. Page 5 is a game: How many Wubbzys Can You Find? Page 6 is advertisement for Oogles n Googles, which is a nationally recognized children's themed birthday party company. Pages 7 and 8 are advertisements for Wubbzy books, games, etc. Page 9 is an advertisement for Chuck E. Cheese's and includes two valuable coupons; their usage pays for this DVD. Page 10 is an advertisement for Anchor Bay Kids Club website sponsored by Anchor Bay.

I love the hip hop songs that accompany each episode. They are very catchy and remind me of the ones I heard in the seventies. They strongly reinforce the moral lessons that are taught in each episode.

"Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" is highly recommended for young children. These colorful stories and their lovable characters will keep the children's interest. Hopefully they will learn valuable lessons about honesty, friendship, following directions, and treating those who are different with kindness and respect. I may be in my forties but I have enjoyed watching these unique stories and have gained some valuable insight. Being "kooky" is cool!!
