The loss of Lucas Turner in a paddling accident prompted his family to work with John Hopkins University on a project called the Whitewater Head Impact Protection Project and WRSI helmets were the result. They feature a multi-layered impact-resistance system with a Lexan EXL outer shell twice the impact strength of standard ABS shells. An important feature is the chin strap that is looped continuously throughout the shell to decrease helmet rotation, protecting the forehead. All helmets have vents. Sizes: Small/Medium (19-21.5") or Medium/Large (21.25-23.25").

I got this helmet because it was extremely comfortable and easily adjusted to stay on my head so that it could do the job it's supposed to. I've worn in on the river and i barely notice that it's on. the WRSI fitting bag that included other sizes of pads was great because I could find the perfect fit, which is a good idea considering how many different shapes and sizes heads come in. The materials used for the shells are also very hard and reliable, not a flimsy plastic that you can sometimes find in other helmets. It also is a cool looking helmet, and definitely an all-around safe bet.
