The best tape on the market right now,
By Karl Lawton (Kansas City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WTF Taekwondo Taegeuk Poomse [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the third tape I've purchased of this set of forms and I'm glad I kept trying because this is the best I've seen. The first tape I bought was one promoted by a popular tkd mag and it was horrible. The instructor on the tape was even doing some of the moves wrong. The second tape came with the kukkiwon textbook. The moves are all right (of course!) but there is no voice over to explain the moves. What I really love about Turtle's tape is that the instructor explains each move and gives little tips for each one. Even though I've been doing some of the lower belt forms for a couple of years, I learned a lot of things I didn't know - especially the little things that really make a difference when it's time to teach the form to other people.

Excellent for practice at home!,

My instructor recommended this tape to me and I have to say it is excellent for reviewing the forms at home. The mutliple views make it easy to see exactly how each move should be done and Master Sang H. Kim breaks down the forms step by step so you can check your performance. I use it to practice new forms after I learn them in class and to review lower rank forms before testing. I think I'd be lost without it!

If you don't have any tapes by Sang H. Kim, get one. His performance is one of the best you'll find on a taekwondo instructional tape and all of the tapes I've seen are loaded with extra tips and insightful explanations. For example on this poomse tape, he goes beyond how to do each movement and really gets into detailed explanations of why things are done the way the are and what kind of mistakes you should watch out for. I use this in class to show my students and recommend that they buy a copy if they are having trouble remembering their forms, so they can practice at home.

Helpful if you already know the moves,
By A Customer
This review is from: WTF Taekwondo Taegeuk Poomse [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video was actually pretty good. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't already done a fair amount of Taekwondo, as the moves are not explained, it is purely about the poomse. But if you are working towards grading or advancing for your own pleasure, this video is very helpful.

I've been training in TKD for over 9 years, and still I haven't come across a video that one, has all the Taegeuks on one tape, and two, squeeze it into such a short amount of time. Other out their have 3 or 4 and it seems like forever to get throught them. This you have multiple angles, explainations, principles of the forms, and new techniques. Love them and going to get the DVD next!!!
