Great "Bang" for the buck,
By Tom "Middle Aged Kid" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WUHAN WU104-12 China Cymbal (Electronics)
I have been drumming for 40+ years and have hand selected 7 Zildjians that have been serving me faithfully. I am very particular with the sound of my cymbals and would typically reject 20 before finding one with just the right sound. That said, I was on line browsing one night and happened to catch some reviews of Wuhan products. I was fascinated by the high praise and low price. After spending a couple thousand dollars on my Zildjians, I figured, at this price, if I don't like them I can give them away and not feel bad about it. Well I wound up buying the 8" and 10" splashes as well as a 12" China, and while I wouldn't replace my Zildjians with these, they are a great way to augment the tonal possibilities in any drummer's kit. So far they have held up well, look great, and have a unique pleasant sound. While all three cymbals have an oriental tonal flavor to them, they make a nice contrasting sound to my other cymbals, and have a nice bite for an effect cymbal, especially at the price. If I was to make a recommendation to a young drummer working on a budget, I would suggest that you save your money and get a good quality ride, crash, and set of Hi Hats. If you buy quality and pick them well, they will serve you a lifetime. Once you have your basics however, save yourself some bucks and buy Wuhan! In terms of bang for the buck, these are one of the best investments I have ever made.

Not bad...!,

I was in a local music store the other day and noticed a huge stack of these cymbals, with a few examples mounted on stands to try. While they're not as rich as Zildjians or Paistes or other more expensive cymbals, they do have that trashy sound that you look for in a China. And at the asking price, who can resist?

Great, trashy, LOUD sound. Showed up very quick, free shipping included... $24.99!!! You can't beat that. My other cymbals are all used in great shape, and I pay around $70 for older Sabian B8 and Avedis & A Zyldjians. This Wuhan china crash sounds completely apart from them, but It's nice to add to the palate of sounds. The drummer in my band had one already, so I was prepared for what it would sound like. I play in a very small space, and usually just use brushes... sometimes hot stix. I would be deaf If I was thrashing away on this thing with anything heavier. For that reason, I think it will last me a lifetime.

Wuhan 12" china,
This review is from: WUHAN WU104-12 China Cymbal (Electronics)
Robert, been playing for 6 years, death metal/blackdeath/melodeath. Bought this china in a package deal from a friend of mine. I LOVE my wuhan. thinking about buying the 16", but am happy with my 12". I saw a lot of the people who didnt like it, said they didnt like the sound, and to be honest, when I first played it, I thought it sounded dumb with my other cymbals, but when it was recorded, it sounded so..."KSSSHHHHH" i guess would be the best way. especially sounded good with the whole band. And for the people who say it eats sticks, put it on a boom stand logo-down, and angle it so your stick hits the flange of the cymbal with the shoulder. (or the very tip if you want it quieter) Also, its great for the wallet. I don't like having a steady job (drummer, lol) so this fit into my budget nicely.

I like this small trash cymbal. It has a quick tight trashy sound that is very similar to a cat aggressively knock over a garbage can. (I mean that in a good way). While their other non-China cymbals suck spectacularly, this is actually really good for the price and sound.

LOUD, and awesome,
This review is from: WUHAN WU104-12 China Cymbal (Electronics)
This thing packs some serious punch. It's 12" of raw fury. It's loud, it's trashy, it's dirt cheap, and it's fantastic. I'd say buy it now no matter what, i mean for $20 what do you have to lose? It's a great mini china, even compared to higher-end brands. It's the bee's knees. Yeah.
