WWE can be accused of whitewashing its history a lot and that does happen a bit with this book. It champions its rise to power a lot and still pictures itself as the underdog in the Monday Night War. But the book actually is far more fair than you think on WWE's failings at times. The opening is terrific, noting the rise of Capitol Wrestling and a great map of the various territories around when McMahon began his expansion and his rough measures. They talk on how he played hardball with PPV companies with the first Survivor Series and how Crockett really had better wrestling but not better promotion and how the Monday Night War and the steroid trial pressed McMahon to new heights.

The comments from various personalities are striking as both Backlund and Bret Hart take shots at Hulk Hogan and other notes such as how Patterson came up with the Royal Rumble, why Flair vs Hogan at WrestleMania VIII never took place, the failure of the Invasion angle and more. When they talk of the WWE version of ECW, the book doesn't hold back on why that brand was a failure for fans and Heyman is of course up front on his feelings over it. They mention stuff like the XFL and WBF and even talk about the death of Chris Benoit, long a taboo subject.

The presentation is great, slick pages noting everything from the dominance of Sammartino and later Hogan to looks at every WrestleMania and RAW and SmackDown. It notes the end of WCW and the Brand Extension and how the company helps out with charities and such. It's a great book for a nice capsule of WWE and the fact they acknowledge their failings makes their successes even better. A must-read for fans to see how, for all its problems, the company is the big game in wrestling for a reason and hopefully 50 more years of fun to give still.

I didn't think much of this when I saw an advertizement. Cause when you have the WWE Encyclopedia what else can you read. However I got this book and I have to say it is much more enjoyable to read. It has just so many great pics, quotes, stories, historical info, and everything in-between. The book covers all kinds of great things, stars from the 70s, 80s, 90s, the Attitude Era, History or Raw, Smackdown, ECW, Wrestlemania and so much more. This book is legit a closer look at WWE and I recommend it over all the others.

Kevin Sullivan brings to life a rich details of World Wrestling Entertainment in his latest book, WWE 50 (BradyGames W DK, 2014).

A stellar publication for wrestling fans from all walks of life, WWE 50 offers behind the scenes knowledge of being the ultimate wrestling fan, true stories behind historical events, split from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and controversial events/personalities from past and present era.

I’ll be honest and say WWE 50 far exceeded my expectations; I’d prepared to read a glossed-over version of a tribute book, but became pleasantly surprised how in-depth and brilliantly written this body of work it actually turned out to be.

Whether you’re a wrestling fan or just discovered sports entertainment, this is the ultimate book complete with a plethora of high-quality photographs and information. While some is common knowledge among long time or “old school” fans, many other details are brought to light spanning from the 1970‘s all the way through the present “PG Era.”

WWE 50 bypasses its predecessor WWE Encyclopedia and is one of the most thoroughly researched and complied book to date. I recommend buying two copies – one for yourself and another for the wrestling fan in your life.

This is a definite “must have” book for any fan. $12.99 the Kindle edition and almost $19.31 for the hardcover book may appear pricey for some, but WWE 50 in either format is worth every dollar and then some. Don’t be surprised that this book becomes a collector’s item someday.

WWE books just keep getting better and better. This book has such an "elegant" look and feel to it. Nice hard cover, gold tassell book mark, and of course, hundreds of pages of prime WWE info. And at a cost below $20 on Amazon. How can you NOT get this book? I especially loved the nostalgia covered in the beginning of the book. T see where WWE/WWF came from to what it is today is one of the true corporate success stories of all time. This book, WWE 50, tells it all. If you call yourself a true WWe fan, then you must own this book! MVACC of VACATTACK in NY

I get pretty much every book WWE puts out. And I can confidently say that this is the best one I've ever read ... even better than the WWE Encyclopedia, which was also great. This one differs so much from the Encyclopedia. With the Encyclopedia, you can pick it up and open to any page and start reading; it's really more of a reference guide. This book, WWE 50, is a reference guide ... and so much more. It has a clean narrative that takes the reader behind the scenes of the wrestling business, starting with well before Vince Sr started Capital Wrestling Corporation.

Some of my favorite parts of the book, include: How Toots Mondt got involved with Vince Sr, Gorilla Monsoon's reaction to Vince Jr buying WWE instead of him, some wrestlers' memories of Hulkamania (both good and bad), photos of Vince McMahon's handwritten booking ledgers, a Monday Night War ratings chart ... the list really goes on and on. I highly recommend this book. Even the most hardcore fans will learn something from WWE 50.
