WWE Anthology Is Beyond What Words Can Describe...,
By Phillip Peace (Bremen, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE Anthology (Audio CD)
Although I did not purchase WWE Anthology [online], it is a truly tremendous buy wherever you decide to get it if your a WWE fan to the end. What many people fail to realize is that the theme music used in the WWE isn't wrestling music for the nostalgic, its a mix of all kinds of music, from rap to hard rock, soft rock to even R&B, and thats what makes a great album. This 3-CD set journey will keep you rockin' all night, and for some, will bring back old, fond memories of the old times in WWE.CD 1, "The Federation Years", will take you back to the 80's and early to mid 90's with themes like Hulk Hogan - "Real American", Jake "The Snake" Roberts - "Snake Bit", Ultimate Warrior - "Unstable", Shawn Michaels - "Sexy Boy", and Mankind - "Schizophrenic." CD 2 will take you through the latter part of the 90's, as the WWE moved into what CD 2 is entitled, the "Attitude Era", with memorable tracks such as D-Generation X - "Break It Down", Stone Cold Steve Austin - "I Won't Do What You Tell Me", Chyna - "Who I Am", Mr. McMahon - "No Chance In Hell", and The Rock - "If You Smell...." And finally, CD 3, "Now!", will bring you straight to the present with current tunes like Brock Lesnar - "Next Big Thing", Eric Bischoff - "I'm Back", Trish Stratus with Lil' Kim - "Time To Rock & Roll", Chris Jericho - "King Of My World" (performed by Saliva), and Undertaker - "You're Gonna Pay." And with so many more songs to name, it's value is definitely worth every penny. If anyone deserves a lifetime achievement award in this world, it is the composer of nearly all the songs listed on this album-Jim Johnston. I salute you Jim, and thank you for so many wonderful songs you have given us the opportunity of listening to over the years and now.

Well Worth The Wait, but Could've Been Better,
By A Customer
This review is from: WWE Anthology (Audio CD)
Well, folks, it's finally here. WWE: The Anthology brings you almost every major piece WWF and WWE Theme Music from the past 18 years. Everything from Hulk Hogan's "Real American" to Brock Lesnar's "Next Big Thing" is on this puppy, . 86 total songs at a hell of a price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because 90% of these songs have already been released on previous WWE albums and have absoulutly no need to be on this(Lita's and Chyna's music spring to mind)and there's just too many Undertaker and Triple H songs for my liking. They could've have put more unreleased material on here (Snuka, Rockers, Demoliton, just to name a few.), this collection is pretty damn good and will satisfy almost all wrestling fans. Another reason I didn't give if 5 was because on the second disc, Chris Jericho's "Break Down The Walls" is all screwed up and the CD skips for about the first forty seconds(not a REAL big deal, but it is the 2nd version of the song). It may just be my CD, I don't know, but other than that, go out and buy this awesome collection, you won't be sorry.

Are you a hardcore WWE Fan? Then you gonna love this CD!,

The CD arrived to me on Wednesday Morning. I was really impressed with the artwork. Inside the CD jacket is a story about how WWE Music history came about and how Jim Johnston's first so-called studio was actually a church basement in 1985, where he had a 4-track tape deck, synthesizer and two guitars.CD 1 has old WWF old with Hogan ripping his shirt and is yello colored. CD 2 is green and has Triple H giving the "DX" sign. CD 3 is blue with new "W" logo. The cosmetics are absolutely beautiful and gave me nastalgia all over. Now, the music itself: CD 1: Awesome! All the oldies. I finally get to listen "Corporate Ministry" in clear version. It's a bit mixed, too. But how come its not in CD 2: Attitude Years? Owen Hart's theme was a mixture of siren theme and "Enough is Enough" However, my comment is that they should've did 2 Owen Themes, because they had all 3 versions of Undertaker Themes, at least 2 of Triple H's and Jericho's to name a few. CD 2: Nice! However, Where's Steve Blackman's theme and Al Snow's theme{I can't fine Al Snow heel theme anywhere on the web!} Also, they had the Kurt Angle's alternative theme, which they used a few times during his entrance. CD 3: CD#1 had 33 tracks; CD#2 has 35 tracks; However, I think WWE rushed a bit with this one, as they only listed 16 tracks and 2 of them were Taker's! Not enough themes in my opinion. They should've at least put a few generic themes of Steven Richards, Johnny Stombolli or Randi Orton. MY OVERALL SCORE[out of 10]: A solid 8 If you are hardcore fan, you gonna love this one!

Not Bad.....Could Be Better,

WWE Anthology is not a bad collection of themes from over the years, don't get me wrong.
However, this does not mean it could not have been a little better. It should have been a 4 disc collection featuring themes from the Federation Years, the New Generation, the Attitude Era, and current themes of today. Heres how I would do it (Not in order): Disc 1: Hulk Hogan Rowdy Roddy Piper Macho Man Randy Savage Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase Brother Love The Bushwhackers Undertaker (1st ever version) Jake The Snake Roberts Ultimate Warrior Hillbilly Jim Big Boss Man (Cobb County Georgia) Mr. Perfect Dusty Rhodes Brutus The Barber Beefcake Honky Tonk Man etc. Disc 2: Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Diesel Razor Ramon Owen Hart (King of Harts) 123 Kid Yokozuna Mankind Sunny Goldust The Smoking Gunns Bam Bam Bigelow Ahmed Johnson etc. Disc 3: Stone Cold Steve Austin Degeneration X Kane (Burned) Mick Foley Vince McMahon Kurt Angle (Original, not remix) Chyna The Hardy Boyz Tazz (13) Lita The Rock Too Cool Big Show The Dudley Boyz etc. Disc 4: Brock Lesnar Christian Undertaker (Deadman Inc.) Eric Bischoff Trish Stratus The Hurricane Rey Mysterio etc. Hope you see my point, these are not all the themes I would put but a good majority of them. If it were to come out now I would also add Evolution, Eddie Guerrero (I Lie...), John Cena, Booker T, etc. WWE Anthology overall is still a must have for all WWE fans.

Dissapointing,

I really thought that this was going to be one of WWE's best CDs but for me it was a let down - As I WWE fan, I collected all the CD's before Anthology so I had half of them already. I really picked up Anthology for the 3rd Album - I was very dissapointed with the songs on it and to see that it didn't have Rob Van Dam or The Hardy'z Entrance Music. Neither did it have Austin's Heavy Metal Entrance - A bad buy... but that's just my opinion!

Best Wrestling CD... Period,
By David Odom (Rocktown, GA USA) - See all my reviews

It took awhile, but it finally come out. This has to be one of the best wrestling CD's ever. It has theme songs from Hulk Hogan's "Real American" and Shawn Micheal's "Sexy Boy" to D-Generation X's "Break It Down" and Chris Jericho's "King of my World." This is 3 jam packed CD's full of history. It has a few unreleased tracks such as Kurt Angle's remixed theme, "I Don't Suck." I would recommend this CD to anyone who is a wrestling fan and even some who aren't.

Ok, but not Great,
By sammydaso (Oshkosh, WI United States) - See all my reviews

The whole thing is, if you are a wrestling fan, you most likely have the cd's the songs originated from, with the exception of the very few previously unreleased tracks. The 1st disc is the gem of the set, showcasing old wrestling tracks from the late 80's all the way through the 90's. The problem is though, that very few songs are from the 80's. Which kind of defeats the purpose of this being a anthology, when 90% of the tracks come from 1996-2002, leaving out mainly anything from the mid 80's to mid 90's. It would have been better to see a better timeline of great themes, as the cd indicates there being a timeline theme going, but they failed, and chose to produce this as cheaply as possibly, by recycling anything from previous albums, and leaving us with unreleased tracks that very well could have remained unreleased.

Neraly a perfect collection,

While this CD collection is prety cool i noticed a couple of gapping gaps in the track salection. Disk 1: Missing was Macho Man, Undertaker (Origianl), Dusty Rhoeds, Bam Bam Bigelow, The Allied Powers, Mr Perfect & Doink The Clown (EVIL) Themes Disk 2: Missing was Too Cool (Origanl), APA, Dudley Boyz (Original) Disk 3: This was the worst offender missing in action were Booker T, RVD, Ric Flair, nWo 2002, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Maven, The Un-Americans, William Regals (New Theme), Edge, Kanyon & DDP's Themes This CD is deffinatly worth buying but it could have been so much better if some if not all of these traks been used instead of some that were like Mark Henry, Summerslam 2002, Undertaker (Dead Man) DX Fist and some othres these appances and poor selection of traks greatly affects this collections appeal |
