The rise and fall of Jeff Hardy,
By BIG T (Louisville, kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE: Jeff Hardy - My Life, My Rules (DVD)
good dvd. i highly recomend this to your collection. this dvd has some crappy matches, but still a great dvd with a great documentary.
disc 1 jeff hardy vs. 123 kid-superstars june,25 1994 this match just is a waste of time on this dvd. i don't even want to review this match. match rating:-2/5 the hardy boyz vs. e&c vs. the dudely boyz-triangle ladder match for the world tag team championships(wrestlemania 2000 april 2,2000) wow. what a classic for a match at wrestlemania 2000. amazing moments like the crossbody/legdrop, the swonton from the top of the ladder, and all the awesome table moments. it sucks that edge and christian won, but im happy that this match was put on here. match rating:5/5 the hardy boyz vs. e&c-steel cage for the world tag team championship(unforgiven 2000(september 24, 2000) great match here. another classic on this dvd made by the hardyz. pretty cool that this match actually had weapons like a chair and a ladder. some exciting stuff like lita doing a hurricarana off a ladder to christian, jeff hardy doing a witw off the top of the cage, a ca-chair-to from the top rope, and the hardyz winning the titles. match rating:4.5/5 jeff hardy vs. mike awesome-hardcore match for the hardcore championship(smackdown july 12,2001) ok match here. not real crazy about it. i didn't really get why this match was put on here. a couple of weapons used like trash cans and lids, a ladder, kendo stick, and a broom. almost a watchable match. match rating:3/5 jeff hardy vs. rvd-ladder match for the hardcore championship(summerslam 2001 august 19, 2001) wow. another great match by jeff. not as good as the triangle and cage match but is still really good. a lot of moonsaults by suprisingly both men, and a ton of ladder use. really exciting and definatly a good match to say oh my god in some moments. match rating:4/5 jeff hardy vs. matt hardy-vengence 2001 december 9,2001 i kind of thought matt hardy had the advantage when lita was named special ref. other than that, she called the match fairly and a good match with jeff getting the win with a swanton that had total impact. match rating:3.5/5 jeff hardy and shawn michaels vs. chris jericho and christian-no dq(RAW febuary 17,2003) good match here. i like that this match had a stipulation to it. hardy got dominated most of the match because michaels was hancuffed. funny moment when jericho got sweet chin musiced when michaels was hancuffed. sadly the only weapon that was used was a chair. but good match with hardy getting the win for his tag team. match rating:3.75/5 disc 2 jeff hardy vs. edge-RAW august 21,2006 this match wasn't even 8 minuets. i would have expected more out of these two and a longer match. match rating:2.75/5 jeff hardy vs. johnny nitro-intercontinental championship(RAW october 2,2006) pretty good. as i expected, there was a lot of highflying action out of both men. this match is really almost a waste of time because i perfer their ladder and cage match on this dvd. match rating:3.5/5 The hardyz vs. lance cade and trevor murdoch-world tag team championships(backlash 2007 april 29,2007) good match here. this dvd should have also had their judgement day match too. some good team work by both teams. i was happy that the hardys won and came out champs. match rating:4/5 jeff hardy vs. shelton benjamin vs. santino marella vs. william regal-fatal four way elimination match for the #1 contendership(RAW july 16,2007) this match shouldn't have been on here. this match freakin stinks. this doesn't even deserve to have been a match. match rating:2/5 jeff hardy vs. shelton benjamin-intercontinental championship(RAW september 17,2007) decent match here. is a little worth watching. i really don't think this match was suppose to be on here in my opinion. some good moments with hardy winning. match rating:2.5/5 jeff hardy vs. carlito-ladder match for the intercontinental championship(RAW december 10,2007) pretty highflying and brutal match here.the brutal moments when carlito gets dropkicked and cracks a ladder, the sunset flip off the top of a ladder, and the backstabber on a ladder. highflying and just plain out brutal match. match rating:3.5/5 jeff hardy vs. triple h-winner gets a wwe championship shaot at the royal rumble(armageddon 2007 december 16,2007) good match here. what made this match kind of boring is that jeff was dominated and refused to fight triple h almost all of the match. but jeff finally gets a wwe title shot when he won at the end of the match with a rollup. this match is where the dvd finally picks up again. match rating:4/5 jeff hardy vs. randy orton-intercontinental championship(RAW january 14, 2008) this match is a piece of s***, because it didn't even last 15 seconds. the only way this match is getting a good rating is because i hate ortons guts, and the swanton is the best i have ever seen. match, sorry, swanton rating:5/5 jeff hardy vs. randy orton-wwe championship(royal rumble 2008 january 27,2008) another good match in this set. this match went outside most of the match. hardy using some highflying stuff with a what i call the "rail walk", and the amazing moonsault from the dangerous top rope. i was pissed when i saw orton get the rko out of nowhere. match rating:4/5 shawn michaels vs. jeff hardy-RAW febuary 11,2008 good match put on by these two. this match was a chop fest for hbk, and a good match for hardy. i was surprised that hardy wasn't really his highflying, risktaking self in this match. match rating:3.5/5 and last but not least, the best dvd of all, disc 3 umaga(r.i.p) vs. jeff hardy-falls count anywhere(one night stand 2008:extreme rules june 1,2008) wow. this match is freakin priceless. this match has everything from ground and pound, to super highflying. highflying moments like the sairwell rail slide clothesline, the fall umaga took off the truck, and the amazing swanton. great match here and a great opener for hardy getting the win. match rating:4.25/5 jeff hardy vs. john cena-winner gets a wwe title shot a night of champions(RAW june 2,2008) pretty good match here. terrible ending when that fan got into the match causing cena to win by d.q and face triple h at night of champions. match rating:3.5/5 jeff hardy vs. john morrison(smackdown july 4,2008) good, fast paced match. this, in my opinion is not better than their 2006 and early 2007 encounters for the intercontinental title. this match is watchable, but not really worth being on here. match rating:3/5 jeff hardy vs. triple h-wwe championship(no mercy 2008 october 5,2008) wow. what a show by two wwe greats. this match has everything you could want in a match. from ground and pound from triple h, to the highflying skills of jeff hardy. this match in my opinion should have been runner up for match of the year. but for the triple h and jeff hardy counters, this is definatly the best one of all. match rating:5/5 jeff hardy vs. undertaker-extreme rules(smackdown november 14,2008) another great match on this dvd. this has only three weapons, but has great action. a lot of chair use and a out-of-nowhere moment by jeff hardy with the kendostick. this match went back and forth for about 17 minuets. i loved every minuet of this match. very exciting match, and definatly worth watching. also, if you have seen jeff hardy vs. undertaker, ladder match from RAW 2002, then this match will bring back some memories when hardy pulls out a ladder. match rating:4.5/5 jeff hardy vs. triple h vs. edge-triple threat match for the wwe championship(armageddon 2008 december 14,2008) wow. a third classic on this dvd. this match has everything you want in a triple threat match. this match(as usual)has spears, whisper in the winds, and twist of fates. this match also involves a chair and a anounce table. great moment at the end with hardy getting a double swanton on triple h and edge after a pedigree to win his first world title. match rating:4.75/5 jeff hardy vs. dolph ziggler-extreme rules(raw march 23,2009) this match is also another one of my waste-of-time matches. i have no idea why this was put on here. they should have put jeff vs. matt extreme rules. match rating:1.75/5 jeff hardy vs. matt hardy-stretcher match(smackdown april 10, 2009) really good match. worth watching, but not my favorite hardy vs. hardy encounter. cool moment when jeff took a ride on the stretcher and did a midair clothesline. i wasn't happy that matt won, but, was really cool how he won(jeff missing a swanton and landing with impact on the stretcher). match rating:3.5/5 jeff hardy vs. cm punk-world heavyweight championship(night of champions 2009 july 26, 2009) good match. this is my third favorite punk/hardy encounter, next to the tlc match and steel cage match. good action for a fast paced match. cheap that Punk tried to retain and take a easy way out by getting counted out to retain, but hardy caught him and finally won the world title back. this match was a great starter for the hardy/punk buildup. match rating:4/5 Jeff hardy vs. cm punk-retirement steel cage match for the world heavyweight championship(smackdown august 28,2009) great match for punk and hardy. this is definatly one of the best smackdown matches ever. great moments with a swanton bomb, hardy getting suplexed off the cage, and punk escaping. sad ending with hardy saying goodbye to the fans and everybody crying. but this is definatly a match worth watching. match rating:4.5/5 this dvd could have had a lot of matches that could have made it better, but, still a entertaining dvd. i recomend this to your wwe collection.

A disappointing DVD set.,
By
This review is from: WWE: Jeff Hardy - My Life, My Rules (DVD)
When I found out about this set I was very excited and could not wait to get my hands on it. Having bought it a day ago and having had a chance to sit down and watch everything on it, I have to admit it is very disappointing.
First, far too many of the matches on the set are from Raw and Smackdown. Normally I would not have a problem with this, but sadly most of these matches are extremely (no pun intended) short. Most of the Smackdown and Raw matches don't even make it to 10 minutes in length. One particular Raw match (I will not spoil which one for those of you who have not seen it) is less then 4 minutes in length. I just can not see the point in including such a short match on a DVD set other then to serve as filler. There are some great matches on the set such as the Ladder match with Rob Van Dam on disk one, and the Triple threat match from Armageddon December 14, 2008 on disk 3, among others. However some matches are missing that should have been here. For example where is the Ladder Match from Extreme Rules '09. Now I know this match will be on the History of the World Heavyweight title Set, but it could have also been here. I mean if the Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H match from Armageddon December 16, 2007 can be included here when it was already on the Twist of Fate DVD, then they could have included the Extreme Rules '09 Ladder match on this set as well. The Summer Slam TLC match between CM Punk is also missing. Personally I could have been happy with one of these matches being included, but both are missing. The documentary on the set is actually not terrible, but oddly edited. Throughout the doc. you get the typical taking head moments with family, friends and fellow WWE talent, but it also continues to cut into Jeff's last match with the WWE (which is included on disc 3). After about a minute or so from that Smackdown match, it cuts back to interviews, which is a bit of an odd direction/editing choice. Don't get me wrong, I am all for seeing something different from these sets, but it really does not work well here. Thankfully there is a good decent amount of additional interviews on the extras section of disk 1 that makes up for this and does not use a similar editing style. I can not stress how big a fan of Jeff (and Matt) I am, but this set really is disappointing. From the short matches, to the oddly edited doc., and the missing matches it really fails to deliver. If your a fan you will probably still buy it, but be warned you might be disappointed from what seems like a DVD that the WWE put little thought or effort into.

The Good Times, Bad Times & Exit Of A Charismatic Enigma,
By
This review is from: WWE: Jeff Hardy - My Life, My Rules (DVD)
There is one alias that summerises Jeff Hardy perfectly in that he's a "charismatic enigma." He will go down as one of the most unique competitors in WWE history as Jeff just has a different "IT" factor than other wrestlers do to connect with the audience. Throughout the documentry, you'll hear from not only Jeff but other various talents like his brother Matt, Shannon Moore, Gregory Helms, John Morrison, Triple H, C.M. Punk, and Michael Hayes. Also keep in mind that this DVD set came out between the period where Jeff Hardy had left WWE but didn't debut in TNA yet.
This documentry was setup differently than any previous one we've seen before as WWE knew that this was going to be Jeff's last obligation with WWE for a period of time so throughout the presentation, you'll go through a timeline of Jeff's last night in WWE from getting ready backstage to the actual cage match to his farewell speech to the fans. Jeff's return is talked about first with the reasons behind his first departure & the story behind behind his comeback, going into his first feud with Johnny Nitro (the current John Morrison), and reuniting with Matt to reform their tag team. One imporant element of the documentry is talked about next with Matt Hardy talking about the difference between teaming with his brother both times before going into Jeff's reasoning behind his first wellness policy violation. The importance of his Armaggedon match against Triple H was discussed next before going into his match against Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble including the memorable swanton off of the RAW stage. His second wellness policy was heavily discussed next with both him, Matt, and others talking about how Jeff let the company down followed by Jeff having another tradegy with his house being burned to the ground. Earning back the trust of the WWE is discussed next before going into his feud with Triple H that elevated him into the main event status & eventually had him gain the WWE Championship. The feud against his brother Matt was heavily discussed next including details of the pyro malfunction incident back in January & their trilogy of matches. His Extreme Rules match with Edge was highlighted before going into the feud with C.M. Punk with both men talking about the difference between their "straight edge vs. free spirit" lifestyles, Punk cashing in his case, Hardy's win at Night Of Champions, their T.L.C. match, and the final encounter inside the steel cage. The documentry closes out talking about what's in his future (obiviously TNA wasn't mentioned) clocking in at a little under an hour. Matches Include: vs. 1-2-3 Kid - This was just a quick squash match showcasing Jeff's early days as "enchancement talent." "Superstars" June '94 Ladder Match: Hardy Boyz vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian - Eventhough these three teams are more famous with being the innovators of the T.L.C. match, this was actually the precursor to that match in this being the first triple threat ladder match. This match topped the previous ladder match between the Hardys/Edge & Christian months earlier at No Mercy & was a non-stop highlight reel with tables getting involved along with so many memorable moments like Jeff Hardy's swanton off the biggest ladder in the match & Matt Hardy going through a table that look like it exploded on impact. The bonus commentary with Jeff & Matt include both talking about why they felt this was the golden era of tag teams, comparing the past looks of everyone in the past to the present, who named the "Wisper In The Wind", and also having some fun at Bubba Ray Dudley's expense. WrestleMania 2000 [Edge: Decade Of Decadance] Steel Cage Match: Hardy Boys vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Edge & Christian - Jeff Hardy got knocked off the top of the cage to the outside floor early in the match leading to Christian & Edge seperating the Hardy's from each other & double teaming one while keeping the other for a majority of the match until the Hardy's were able to comeback & use the same gameplan to win the WWF Tag Team Titles. Various highlights include Matt being double suplexed off the top of the cage, Jeff using a ladder to knock Christian outside the cage along with doing a Wisper In The Wind off the top of the cage, Hardy's doing a con-chair-to to Edge on the top of the cage who then fell backwards off, and Lita doing a frankensteiner on Christian off the ladder. Unforgiven '00 [Hardy Boys: Leap Of Faith] vs. WWE Hardcore Champion Mike Awesome - This was your typical hardcore match in WWE as it was both men using weapons such a trash can & a ladder while Hardy did his best impression of a witched witch with a broom but this was more about setting up Awesome match at the upcoming Invasion PPV with Edge & Christian getting involved. "SmackDown!" July '01 WWE Hardcore Championship/Ladder Match for vs. Rob Van Dam - This didn't top their match at Invasion or live up the standards that the Hardyz set in ladder matches but it was still something to watch. The only thing bad would be various blown spots as RVD tried to be innovative but the spots didn't go off as planned. Good but sloppy at times. SummerSlam '01 vs. Matt Hardy - Lita was the special referee here as Matt & Jeff had problems for weeks with Matt being upset at Jeff's daredevil nature backfiring on the team so many times. Both men worked a more grounded style that they were known for here with Matt getting fustrated at times with Lita refusing to show any bias towards him. At one point Jeff was able to counter an attempted sunset flip off the apron onto a headsissors on the floor. Jeff hurt his leg & Matt exploited it to the point where he was being very heelish causing Lita to keep getting involved. The ending was a bit controversal but left the door open for this feud to continue...which for fans who don't remember, never did due to personal issues between both men & management at the time. Vengeance '01 w/Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho & Christian - For those who don't remember, weeks before this match had Jeff Hardy on a losing streak causing him to get very fustrated & begin to show heelish actions with Shawn trying to reach out to Jeff to get him back on the right track. This was a tag match made last minute with the No Disqualification stipulation causing Shawn to wrestle in his normal shirt & jeans instead of his usual gear. It started out with everyone brawling on the floor before Jericho & Christian were able to handcuff Shawn in the corner causing Hardy to fight both men alone. Both men worked over Jeff while taunting HBK before Shawn was able to get himself uncuffed & deliever Sweet Chin Music to Jericho's face with a chair followed by a swanton to victory in what turned out to be Hardy's last big victory before leaving WWE a short time later. "Raw" Feb. '03 vs. Edge - Jeff returned to WWE & confronted Edge earlier that night leading up to this match. It started off intense with Hardy doing a baseball slide & suicide dive onto Edge to the point where Edge ended up bleeding from the nose. Hardy came close to getting the win in his first match back before Lita got involved causing John Cena to appear afterwards but if you can get past the ending, this was definately a good TV quality match & a great showcasing for Jeff's return. "Raw" Aug. '06 vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro - This was a match that was very competitive between both men with Nitro working over Jeff's back after missing the Wisper In The Wind at one point with moves like the baseball slide kick into the post & a different variation of the backbreaker. Both men showcased their unique style of movesets of high flying & along with their different kicks with both men coming close in near falls before Nitro was backdropped off the top rope followed by the Swanton Bomb. Another good quality TV match. "Raw" Oct. '06 World Tag Team Championship Match: The Hardys vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch - This was one of the best tag team matches of the year right behind the various matches in the Hardys/MNM series. The match had it all you would expect in a good tag team match: double team moves, suspension for a tag team partner to finally make a tag after getting beat on for minutes, mat wrestling & highspots. Good & solid match to kick off the show but the one moment to look out for is Trevor Murdock's executing TNA wrestler Petey Williams' "Canadian Destroyer". Backlash '07 Elimination Match vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Santino Marella vs. William Regal - This was to determine the #1 challenger for the Intercontinental Title against Umaga at the Great American Bash. Santino at this time wasn't his comedic character that we now know him for but still this was a good match overall that saw some storytelling that we're used to in these type of matches such as the "honor amongst theives" in Regal & Benjamin before it became every man for himself. A nice match but nothing special. "Raw" July '07 WWE Intercontinental Championship Match vs. Shelton Benjamin - Hardy didn't come into this match 100% as he was still feeling the effects of his match with Great Khali the previous week. This was another nice match that was given time to be good & competitive but never seemed to leave "first gear" or had anything memorable about it once it was over. "Raw" Sept. '07 WWE Intercontinetal Championship/Ladder Match vs. Carlito - This was on RAW's 15th Anniversary Show & Carlito's first ladder match in WWE (not sure if he's had one in Puerto Rico or anywhere else). Carlito hit Hardy with the ladder early before Jeff fought back & dropkicked Carlito off the apron onto the ladder lying on the rail. For his first ladder match, Carlito took some nasty bumps like doing a sunset flip powerbomb on Hardy off the ladder & later being backdropped on the ladder while also working over Jeff's leg including wedging it inbetween the ladder. This isn't one of those ladder matches that will stand the test of time but was still a good encounter. "Raw" Dec. '07 vs. Triple H - This was all about Triple H making Jeff Hardy step his game up as the beginning had Hardy hold back a punch before Triple H slapped him & yelled for Hardy to "FIGHT ME!" before Hardy returned the slap to Triple H. From here, they went back & forth with each other with Triple H getting more aggressive every time it looked like Hardy would make a comeback. Great match that served it's purpose in elevating Hardy to the main event. Armageddon '07 [Hardy Boys: Twist Of Fate] WWE Intercontinental Championship Match vs. Randy Orton - Don't let the title fool you because Randy Orton had no intentions of winning the Intercontinental Championship here but everything that happened after the match is more memorable here as we saw the biggest swanton bomb Hardy has ever given in WWE. "Raw" Jan. '08 vs. WWE Champion Randy Orton - This match had a big match buildup & feel to it. They gave it their all here & showcased a performance that had the crowd going back & forth more than they had any other time of the night with Orton getting the victory after a RKO out of nowhere. Orton got the strong performance & CLEAN PPV victory he's been needing since becoming champion. Royal Rumble '08 vs. Shawn Michaels - Both men here started off fast paced with the action going back & forth between both men with quick pin attempts. Hardy worked over HBK's neck with aggressive headlock takeovers various times while Shawn was able to keep countering Jeff's offense like the back suplex into a crossbody along with delievering a powerslam off Jeff's walking the outside railing clothesline before working over Jeff's back with moves like the half crab submission & elbow drops. This was a PPV quality encounter that we got as a RAW main event that did the job in showing Hardy could hang with one of the best. "Raw" Feb. '08 Falls Count Anywhere Match vs. Umaga - Just based off the on & off feud these two have been having for close to a year now and they're past performances in these type of matches, you got exactly what you would expect as it was Umaga's power vs. Jeff's speed. They went from the ring to the outside & through the crowd with chairs, the retaining wall, and plastic traffic cones being used in the process before finally making their way outside (including a cool spot where Hardy slid down the handrail on the steps onto Umaga) with Hardy getting the win after a swanton bomb off the top of a semi-trailer. Good opener & possibly their best match together. One Night Stand '08 vs. John Cena - This is the first & only time these two met in a rare match here on RAW to see who would go on to face Triple H for the WWE Championship at Night Of Champions. The match got off to a almost comedic start as a fan jumped into the ring early causing Cena to temporarily stop the match while you can clearly see both of them holding back their laughter. What else can I say here as this was a very competitive match from start to finish with the crowd hot from start to finish that ended with Cena rolling through Hardy's crossbody into an F-U. "Raw" June '08 vs. John Morrison - This was Jeff Hardy's debut as a member of the SmackDown roster against his old rival here. As we've seen in the past, both men have unique offense when it comes to their flying & ground game which we saw here including an instance where Hardy "crashed & burned" on the outside. Morrison was able to avoid & counter Hardy's moves throughout the match such as ducking the Wisper In The Wind while also delievering a pele kick to Hardy on the top rope. This doesn't surpass their previous encounters but was still a good quality match. "SmackDown!" July '08 vs. WWE Champion Triple H - I can try to summerize this match but Jim Ross said it best at the end, "one of the most competitve WWE Title matches I can remember calling." The counters, great wrestling, fast paced action, and crowd that was hot throughout the entire match made this be one of those matches that made both men come out looking strong than they did coming in no matter who won or lost. No Mercy '08 Extreme Rules Match vs. Undertaker - Jeff Hardy was bugging Vickie Guerrero to get another shot at the WWE Championship while Vickie was also having her own problems with Undertaker at this time so she figured she would "kill two birds with one stone" here & put Hardy in an Extreme Rules match with Hardy earning the title shot if he wins. Hardy returned to wearing his facepaint of old for this match as he used his speed to get an early advantage before Taker caught Hardy & worked over his back ramming it into the ringpost, using steel steps, and tossing him into the ringside barrier. Various weapons were used such as a chair when Taker doing his apron legdrop onto Hardy along with both men using the kendo stick at one point. Big Show did get involved here and gave an unintential assist to Hardy who then used both a chair & a ladder to gain his victory. "SmackDown" Nov. '08 vs. WWE Champion Edge vs. Triple H - For the second year in a row, Edge is in a main event triple threat for a championship while this is Triple H's 7th multiman main event in a year for those trivia fans. Some action moments throughout the match like Triple H & Jeff Hardy doing a classic "Hardy Boyz" spot onto Edge early in the match, Hardy's wisper in the wind with Triple H holding Edge in an "electric chair," the traditional announce table spot, and that finishing move by Jeff Hardy that you were just waiting all match for him to pull off. This was the match of the night here with this match doing exactly what the other matches were lacking in that it buildup with getting more intense & fast paced overtime with the perfect World Championship win celebration afterwards that was as perfect of a moment that any wrestler or fan can ask for. Armageddon '08 Extreme Rules Match vs. Dolph Ziggler - This was pretty short & sweet as this was put here to showcase a more vicious side of Jeff leading into his match against Matt by using weapons to do more impactful moves like the Twist Of Fate onto the trash can & just beating Dolph with a chair. "Raw" Mar. '09 Stretcher Match vs. Matt Hardy - This started off with a bang as both men brawled to the outside with Matt using the stretcher early & suplexing Jeff on it before Jeff used the stretcher himself later on to surf it down the ramp to deliever a clothesline. Matt brought his A game here as we saw him utilize a different version of the sleeper where he had Jeff carry all his weight on the front of his body instead of the back before trying to run Jeff over with the stretcher on the outside. Jeff took some daredevil chances with the stretcher such as attempting a ledrop from the top rope onto it but overshooting his target causing it to catapult into Matt's face. Later on, Jeff missed the swanton bomb onto the ladder resulting in Matt being able to knock him out with a chair for Matt to score another win. "SmackDown' 'Apr. '09 vs. World Champion C.M. Punk - This was similar to their match at the Bash as far as how both men worked well together but also different in that Punk was now in full heel mode which was shown various times such as him trying to take advantage of anyway he can retain his championship either by pinfall, submissions like the dragon sleeper, or even trying to rush the referee into doing a countout at one point but Hardy refused to lose. Everyone really came off their feet towards the end when Hardy went "crazy" once Punk tried to cheat Hardy out of the championship again like he did at The Bash leading to what J.R. liked to call "the Hardy Party." Night of Champions '09 Steel Cage Match vs. World Champion C.M. Punk - The final encounter in their feud as the loser of this match would leave WWE. Jeff Hardy was showing the effects of their T.L.C. match earlier in the week on the way to the ring before he was attacked from behind by Punk...who also had his shoulder taped up from their SummerSlam match. Punk kept constantly trying to escape the cage every quick chance he had early on before Hardy was able to recover & make a comeback. This went back & forth between both men struggling to escape at times such as Punk grabbing on to the steel steps to stop Hardy from pulling him back in, Hardy being "Spiderman" like in an attempt to climb over the top while later just dangling on the outside of the cage before being superplexed back in by Punk before just like SummerSlam, they were fighting at the top before Hardy fell & Punk left victorious. "SmackDown" Aug. '09 Hidden DVD extras include Jeff Hardy getting into a paint fight with Nitro & Melina, accepting his Slammy Award, and interrupting the Undertaker before their Extreme Rules match. In the end, I liked the documentry as it covered everything that the previous one (Twist Of Fate). The match selection isn't perfect as I would have preferred that some of the irrelevant matches that were just average at best (1-2-3 Kid, Mike Awesome, Elimination Match, Dolph Ziggler) been replaced with matches that were more relevant or better quality to Hardy's career (tag matches with Matt vs. MNM from the ECW PPV, the ladder match vs. Benjamin & Hass come to mind off the top of my head, or the forgotten cage & ladder matches vs. Edge & Christian from RAW) I have to say I'm overall satisfied with the match selection as we only had 3 DVD repeats but at least did something extra with one of them by adding Matt & Jeff's commentary to the WM2000 match with the other being the cage match which hasn't been released in a very long time so it comes off as a new fresh match. In the end, I'm satified with this release & it's something I would recommend to fans of Jeff Hardy.

Just A Wrestler Who Was Living For The Moment,
By Scotty M. "Little Nose" (Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE: Jeff Hardy - My Life, My Rules (DVD)
Jeff Hardy is undoubtfully one of the most unique and interesting competitors to ever wrestle in the WWE, among other organizations as well. Now that he is away dealing with his personal life choices and problems, WWE decided to release a DVD set on this very charasmatic individual. If you're looking for a 2 hour documentary on this DVD as they have for Bret Hart, Ric Flair, or Shawn Michaels, well...do not look here as the documentary is around 10 minutes shy of an hour. Unlike the DVD "Twist Of Fate", nothing is discussed on Hardy prior to his return to WWE in 2006. From there, Hardy discusses various topics since his return to WWE in '06 such as his early rivarly with Johnny Nitro and wrestling Triple H, teaming up and feuding with his brother Matt, his "two strikes" with WWE since his return with the tragedy of his house being burned down, Jeff's number of title shots and eventually winning his first WWE Championship. Throughout the documentary however, it keeps going back and highlighting certain spots of his "last" match in the WWE against CM Punk. His brother Matt, Triple H, John Morrison, Shannon Moore, Gregory Helms, Jim Ross and among others join Jeff in discussing Jeff's career. Though I think WWE did a good job profiling Jeff's WWE career from '06 to now, the documentary surely could have been improved and more.
SUPERSTARS (JUNE 25, 1994) VS. 1-2-3 KID - Essentially, this was just a dark match on Superstars for Jeff as he went against the Kid (a.k.a. Syxx, a.k.a. X-Pac). Nothing going on here but Jeff is able to score with his Whisper In The Wind if you're a fan of that move but if you want to see a really good Hardy and X-Pac match, I recommend their King Of The Ring '01 clash over the Light Heavyweight Championship. 1/5 WRESTLEMANIA (APRIL 2, 2000) TRIANGLE LADDER WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE HARDY BOYZ VS. THE DUDLEY BOYZ VS. EDGE & CHRISTIAN - This is the match that not only stole the show at WrestleMania but it showed that Jeff was without of a doubt, FEARLESS! To me, every ladder match involving the Hardys, Dudleys, and E&C was unique in their own, idividual way. Like their later TLC Matches, this match is just breath taking. 5/5 [Alternate commentary with Jeff and Matt] UNFORGIVEN '00 (SEPTEMBER 24, 2000) STEEL CAGE WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE HARDY BOYZ VS. EDGE & CHRISTIAN - Jeff is eliminated early in the match as he is the first man to escape the cage but that doesn't stop his involvement in the match. I felt this match morely showed the toughness and reselency of Matt's as he held his own against the tag champs for a good 10 minutes with Jeff not able to help. Jeff soon brings out a ladder where he scores with a Whisper In The Wind from the top of the cage with also Lita getting involved and scoring with a hurricanrana on Christian from the ladder. The ending involves Matt and Jeff hitting Edge with a con-chair-to on top of the cage allowing the Hardys to escape and win the Tag Team Titles. 4/5 SMACKDOWN (JULY 12, 2001) HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. MIKE AWESOME - This match surely doesn't compare to Jeff's Hardcore Title Match with RVD a few short weeks later at Invasion but this match showed that Jeff can hangin there with one of the most powerful Hardcore champions ever in Mike Awesome. With help from his early rivals, Edge & Christian, Jeff wins the Hardcore Championship from Mike Awesome. 3/5 SUMMERSLAM '01 (AUGUST 19, 2001) LADDER HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. ROB VAN DAM - Like I said about the Mike Awesome match, to me, this match doesn't compare to their Hardcore match a month earlier at Invasion. However, this is still a good ladder match between two of the best in this kind of environment. The ladder was used at perfect times when it needed to be used with both Hardy & Van Dam pulling off some good and unique moves with the ladders. Again, I have to say this match doesn' live up their match they had at Invasion but it was still good nevertheless. 4.5/5 VENGEANCE '01 (DECEMBER 9, 2001) VS. MATT HARDY - This was a pretty solid match up right here with Matt's girlfriend at the time, Lita, being the special guest referee. Surprisingly, the Hardy brothers worked well against one another with some good ground work being used in the match. Matt did a good job focusing on Jeff's leg to take away the high flying offense Jeff is mostly known for. There were some pretty good counters and high risk along with a good mixture wrestling in the match. The match has a questionable ending but it worked in well and overall, this is a good match. 4/5 RAW (FEBRUARY 17, 2003) NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: w/ SHAWN MICHAELS VS. CHRIS JERICHO & CHRISTIAN - Not a bad tag team match but the No DQ stipulation definitley did more good for the overall match product. Jeff went it alone for a while with his partner, HBK, being handcuffed to the bottom turnbuckle. But overall, nothing past RAW material as this match was just average at best. 3/5 RAW (AUGUST 21, 2006) VS. EDGE - This was Jeff's first night back from his 3 year absence from WWE where he wrestled the current WWE Champion at the time. This match started out wildly with Jeff taking it to Edge from the gecko and from there, Jeff and Edge kept the match flowing at a steady pace with a number of near falls and counters until the botched ending involving Lita. Again, nothing past RAW material and if it wasn't for the botched ending, this match would have been better. 3/5 RAW (OCTOBER 2, 2006) WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. JOHNNY NITRO - This match doesn't past the 10 minute mark but Jeff and Nitro kept the match exciting all the way through. I won't say this match surpasses their previous title match at Unforgiven or their later Ladder & Steel Cage matches for the I-C Title but nevertheless, this match served it's purpose crowning a new I-C Champion in Jeff. 3.5/5 BACKLASH '07 (APRIL 29, 2007) WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE HARDY BOYZ VS. LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH - This match started off the night for Backlash and man, what a tremendous tag bout this is! I guess WWE was trying to revive their Tag Team division and the Hardys along with Cade and Murdoch certainly did that here in this match. This match had everything what a Tag Team match is suppose to have. Double teaming, moves done behind the referee's back, cheap shots, partner making the tag after being beat down for a long time and everything inbetween. Overall, this is a great match that did it's job. 4.75/5 RAW (JULY 16, 2007) 4-WAY ELIMINATION MATCH: VS. WILLIAM REGAL VS. SHELTON BENJAMIN VS. SANTINO MARELLA - This was a #1 Contender's Match to face Umaga for the I-C Title at The Great American Bash [That match available on "History Of The Intercontinental Championship"]. Once Santino was the first to go, the match went a steady pace that led to Regal and Benjamin double teaming Jeff for a brief period until Regal turns on Benjamin and is soon eliminated by Jeff. From there Jeff and Shelton wrestled for a little while until Jeff gains the victory after rolling up Benjamin for the win. 3.25/5 RAW (SEPTEMBER 17, 2007) WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. SHELTON BENJAMIN - For RAW standards, this was a pretty enjoyable and competitive match up for the I-C Title. Shelton and Jeff displayed a great deal of competitive spirit as they both went out there and gave the RAW fans a good match. Yes, if this match was on PPV I would expect more but being on RAW, this match doesn't disappoint. 3.5/5 RAW (DECEMBER 10, 2007) LADDER WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. CARLITO - Surely this isn't one of those Ladder matches will stand the test of time, but appreciation does have to be given to Jeff and Carlito as they both took some nasty falls off and on the ladder in this contest. And to my knwoledge, this is Carltio's first Ladder match and if that factoid is true, Carlito definitely took those bumps in this match like a man (LOL). Overall, this is a Ladder match this worth the time to view and is surely to deliver to anyone's standards. 3.5/5 ARMAGEDDON '07 (DECEMBER 16, 2007) VS. TRIPLE H - To me, this is the most intensed HHH/Hardy encounter I have seen. A lot of variables in this match is what gave this match that intense factor such as the possibility of Jeff being slightly intimindated by "The Game" and HHH slapping Jeff directly in the face and screaming at Jeff "Fight Me!" before Jeff returning the favor. From there, HHH took it to Jeff with his power and pure dominance for the time being. It ends when HHH attempts the Pedigree and Jeff gets the slick roll up on HHH to gain the #1 contendership for the WWE Title. 4/5 [Match also available on "Twist Of Fate: The Matt And Jeff Story"] RAW (JANUARY 14, 2008) WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. RANDY ORTON - After the opening low blow from Orton, Orton gets himself DQ'ed. Then which, Hardy and Orton fights up to the staging area where Jeff scores with the Swanton Bomb of the top of the titantron. 0/5 ROYAL RUMBLE '08 (JANUARY 27, 2008) WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. RANDY ORTON - This match had a big time buildup and feel to it. Orton and Hardy gave a great performance out there and they produced a very good WWE Title Match. The MSG crowd was very electric in this match as Hardy and Orton went back and forth against one another. In the end, Randy Orton hits a RKO out of nowhere that vanishes the dreams of Jeff's becoming the new WWE Champion. 4.5/5 RAW (FEBRUARY 11, 2008) VS. SHAWN MICHAELS - A week away from the Elimination Chamber, this is a great one-on-one match for Jeff as he went against someone many compared himself to. After powerslamming Jeff on the outside floor, Shawn made Jeff's back the focal point of the match. Overall, this is a great competitive match between two guys who are very similar in style and darn near in everything else. 4/5 EXTREME RULES '08 (JUNE 1, 2008) FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH: VS. UMAGA - This match opened up ONS and was a pretty good opening contest but I did expect more from these two in this kind of environment. The match started out with some good action in the ring and soon flowed out into the crowd and around the enterance area. The match soon fell to the outside where the match ends after Jeff Swanton Bombs Umaga off a 18 wheeler but you couldn't see where Jeff really landed which was a little cheap but still a good and enjoybale Falls Count Anywhere match. 3.5/5 RAW (JUNE 2, 2008) VS. JOHN CENA - Surprisingly, Jeff has a good match with Cena here. Jeff was at his usual here as he entertained the fans with his high flying and unorthodoxed offense but Cena is one the who surprised me after I saw Cena pulling off a leap frog in this match! This match too was closely a very competitive match with the RAW fans in attendence getting behind both competitors. This is a solid match with some good counters and near pinfalls with a good amount mixture of wrestling and high risk. Good match that in the end, John Cena scores the win over Jeff after delivering the F-U. 3.75/5 SMACKDOWN (JULY 4, 2008) VS. JOHN MORRISON - Again, I didn't feel this match was on the same level as their previous battles over the I-C Championship but either way, this was still one heck of a back and forth match presented by SmackDown. Jeff takes a nasty fall over the top rope straight down to the floor where from there, Morrison takes full advantage to wear down the broken body of Jeff's. Morrison does a fantastic job side stepping and countering certain Hardy maneuvers. For a SmackDown match, this match iss pretty solid and quite good. 3.5/5 NO MERCY '08 (OCTOBER 5, 2008) WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. TRIPLE H - Hardy and "The Game" definitely upgraded themselves in this match from what they did previously at Armageddon. Hardy and Triple H blended in pretty well with each other as they put on one heck of a competitive match up. This is a awesome WWE Title match and one of the bests I've seen from Jeff's career. 4.5/5 SMACKDOWN (NOVEMBER 14, 2008) EXTREME RULES MATCH: VS. THE UNDERTAKER - Nothing extrodinary or past great here for this Extreme Rules match. A couple of good spots involving chairs, a kendo stick, and a ladder but no really variation at all besides Jeff going out there like he always do and "throwing caution to the wind". If you want to see a very good Undertaker/Hardy match, I recommend looking into their WWE Undisputed Title Ladder Match from RAW in '02. But as for this match, just the same ol' SmackDown stuff. 3/5 ARMAGEDDON '08 (DECEMBER 14, 2008) TRIPLE THREAT WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. EDGE VS. TRIPLE H - Now this match has an unbelievable championship main event feel to it. All the competitors brought their good stuff to the match. Great action in and out of the ring to include a sick table spot involving Edge delivering a spear to Jeff. I felt the end was a good finish where the interference was nearly un-noticable. This is a great WWE Title match & also, a true crowning moment for Jeff Hardy. 5/5 RAW (MARCH 23, 2009) EXTREME RULES MATCH: VS. Dolph Ziggler - This is another poor match from RAW. A couple of hard shots from a steel chair and that's about it. 1.5/5 SMACKDOWN (APRIL 10, 2009) STRETCHER MATCH: VS. MATT HARDY - 5 days removed from WrestleMania, the Hardy brothers find themselves in another barbaric match and from where I stand, I found this match to be very good. A few innovative spots dealing with the stretchers and the fact that both Matt and Jeff were willing to do anything to win made a good recipe. Just like how Matt won at WrestleMania, the same thing takes place here after Matt makes good after capitalizing on a mistake by Jeff. 3.75/5 NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS '09 (JULY 26, 2009) WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. C.M. PUNK - Credit has to be given to C.M. Punk & to WWE for that matter in making Punk this super villain & a perfect opposition for Jeff Hardy in that sense. Punk worked the match entirely as a heel to allow Hardy to come back fighting strong & to allow the crowd to get all over Jeff Hardy's band wagon at the same time. Both Hardy & Punk fought hard and they delivered a good World Title Match. A very entertaining & good World Title match and a nice way for the "Hardy Party" to begin again. 4/5 SMACKDOWN (AUGUST 28, 2009) STEEL CAGE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VS. C.M. PUNK - Wow! To me, this was one of the greatest SmackDown main events ever and definitely the best main event from SmackDown in a long time. Hardy and Punk, literally gave all they could and they put on one great of a steel cage match for the World Championship. Punk first attacks Hardy from behind to gain advantage in the match but man from there, this match was a roller coaster ride. Just a great World Title match and in ways this match is my favorite Punk/Hardy encounter. 4.5/5 I have mix feelings for this DVD. Where to me the documentary flat out wasn't that good at all, most of the matches chosen had no place belonging on this set. Yes, there are a few rare gems here but I found this DVD just a way to dramatize Jeff's current absence from WWE. What Jeff did outside of the wrestling ring was his own personal choice. Nobody made him do any of that stuff he did so the way I feel, he deserves this hardship and I do not feel sorry or guilt for Jeff one bit. Life is a world of choices, and Jeff (full knowing he already had 2 strikes) kept on making the wrong ones. But as a recommendation, unless you want to see a few of the good matches included here, I personally give this one a pass. If you want to see a very good documentary on Jeff (and on Matt for that matter) I recommend their previous DVD, "Twist Of Fate: The Matt And Jeff Story."
