The Best New Years Revolution In WWE History,
By
This review is from: WWE - New Year's Revolution 2007 (DVD)
Normally, this PPV is RAW's version of SmackDown's Great American Bash (or ECW's December To Dismember) in which WWE only focuses on their main events & pays little to no attention to the under card resulting in a horrible PPV. However, with ECW having the Elimination Chamber this year...RAW focused on the entire card & gave us a show worth watching.
Steel Cage Match: Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro - This cage match was similar to the Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart match in which they didn't turn it into a bloody massacre but did good wrestling inside the cage. If you've seen their previous matches, you know this will not disappoint but the ending was something unique for a cage match. Tag Team Turmoil: Highlanders vs. World's Greatest Tag Team vs. Jim Duggan & Super Crazy vs. Cade & Murdock vs. Cryme Tyme - Just like Cyber Sunday, this was just a filler match. It had some weird booking like Duggan & Crazy being a tag team along with Cryme Tyme & WGTT not fighting each other when they were feuding for the past month on RAW. Ric Flair vs. Kenny Dykstra - This was a solid match as Flair did what he had to do to elevate the young talent but if you've seen their matches on RAW the weeks before & after this match, you aren't missing anything. Womens Champion Mickey James vs. Victoria - I liked that they had Victoria doing the "Kill Bill" gimmick but this match was more focused on setting up the Mickey/Melina feud & having the divas get their revenge on Victoria more than showcasing what Mickey & the most underrated diva in WWE can do. World Tag Team Champions Rated RKO vs. DX - I guess Triple H has a curse in World Tag Team Title matches because he injured his other quad in this match but again, he worked through the pain & injury which is something you have to respect...love him or hate him. Past that, they stepped up their match from Cyber Sunday & Rated RKO took a hellacious beating but still got the credibility they lost after that Survivor Series embarrassment. Carlito vs. Chris Masters - Their Backlash match was the shock of the night seeing how well the match was but this match was very disappointing. WWE Champion John Cena vs. Umaga - This match was basically an extended version of Cena's WM 21 match. To summarize, Cena was dominated by Umaga for a majority of the match but then he scored the quick pin at the end. Just like it was a crappy way to end JBL's title reign, this was a crappy way to end Umaga's undefeated streak. And just like JBL, they made up for it on the next PPV but this wasn't a match worthy of the main event spot. DVD extras include the Cena/K-Fed match from New Years Day edition of RAW...and the Rosie/Trump match the next night on RAW. The Rosie/Trump match was heavily edited down so it didn't go as long and all the "WE WANT WRESTLING!" & "TNA! TNA! TNA" chants were edited out. Just like Cyber Sunday, this event was passable but compared to all the previous NYR's, this was the best one WWE has ever put on. I would get it for a rental & made your decision from there.

Brutality, Announce Tables, and everything else in between!,

This review is from: WWE - New Year's Revolution 2007 (DVD)
This was the right way to start off a nice year in 2007, and was definatly a great ppv.
Steel Cage match for the Intercontinental championship Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro(John Morrison) This was a great way to start off a exciting event. These two put everything in there skills into this match. These guys had some huge moments like a sunset flip powerbomb off the top rope, Melina gettign involved, and a brutal moment where nitro was escaping, and hardy opened the door and nitro slipped, landed on the door, and injured his crotch(which was also the funniest moment in the match)and getting a huge laughing reaction from Jerry Lawler. 4.5/5 Tag Team Turmoil for a shot at the World Tag Team championship This match included Cryme Tyme, The Highlanders, The worlds greatest tag team(the worlds lamest tag team), jim duggan and super crazy, lance cade and trevor murdoch. This was actually a pretty nice turn out to this match, having the few highflying moments, and the most surprising moment, with Cryme Tyme actually winning a match that would be big to there career. But i enjoyed this, and thought that it was surprising, especially with the tag team of jim duggan and SUPER CRAZY! 3.75/5 Kenny Dykstra vs. Ric Flair Well, this match ruined two good matches in a row, this match ruined the streak. All this was, was just Kenny being a freaking jackass and beating a legend who can bearly talk anymore without spitting in someones face, so really big whoop, because this match should have never even been on the card. 2/5 Womans championship Mickie James vs. Victoria This was another waste of time, these two woman are great fighters, but here they just didn't put on a good match at all, this isn't even worth watching and is boring. A usual thing in the Diva division. 1/5 World Tag-Team championship DX vs. Rated RKO This of course was the best match on the card. These guys put on a freakin show. This match was never boring at any point and was match of the night. This was brutal and had some huge moments like. Triple H injuring his knee, which is one part of how this match was a no contest. Another was when chairs came into affect, and the pedigree on edge on the announce table and a elbow drop on Orton through the announce table. So, if you had any word to describe this match, it would be this, classic. These guys just went out there and did everything they could. Great match. 5/5 Chris Masters vs. Carlito Why would WWE schedual this match to be after a classic like Rated RKO vs. DX. This match was only domination from Chris Masters and was a waste of time, this was also another match that shouldn't have been on the card. 2/5 WWE championship John Cena vs. Umaga Another good match for the night. This wasn't a classic, but the last man standing match a month later sure was. But these men went out there, and did everything they could like DX and Rated RKO. But in this match, this was Umagas first loss in the WWE, Cena again was put in the main event and over came the odds. But, i gotta give him props, he beat Umaga(R.I.P)twice in a row. But this almost deserved to be the main event. 4.5/5 Overall, this ppv was really good, sure it had some crapy matches, but had some great matches. I would recommend picking this one up.

The Revolution Arrives...?,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: WWE - New Year's Revolution 2007 (DVD)
As far as the New Year's Revolution series goes, this is probably second best of the three. The first was great due to the Elimination Chamber main event, the second was terrible with the Elimination Chamber being the second to worst behind the ECW Extreme Chamber - however it ended excellentyl with Edge becoming champion.
This edition of NYR was watchable, but nothing amazing. The main event was better than last years, but not as good as the first NYR's main event. JOHNNY NITRO VS. JEFF HARDY (INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP - STEEL CAGE) An okay match, but not as good as the Inferno match that kick-started Amrageddon on the last SmackDown PPV. The Hardy/ MNM would stay fresh and entertaining for a while to come, however the single feud between Nitro and Jeff Hardy had become depressing by the time this match came about. Not as good as their Ladder match on RAW several weeks previously, but it got the crowd pumped which always helps during a PPV. Some nice spots involving the Cage, and an entertaining finish, but nothing special. WINNER: INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION JEFF HARDY 7/10 SPECIAL MATCH - TAG TEAM TURMOIL This was announced on the night but didn't live up to turmoils at events such as Backlash 2005. Cryme Tyme and Hagan/ Super Crazy (a very unusual tag team) were the fan favourites, and there were some good performances by the World's Greatest Tag Team, but it wasn't quick enough in its pace and could've been better. The winners of the match were supposed to recieve a Tag Team Championship opportunity in the future, but 6 months later the winning team still haven't recieved their shot. WINNERS: CRYME TYME 5/10 RIC FLAIR VS. KENNY DYKSTRA Dykstra could've been given a good push to become I.C. Champion after he left the Spirit Squad, but instead he got three wins over Flair and was dropped back onto HEAT and the bottom card of RAW. An okay match, but it had been seen twice before just several weeks ago. The highlight of the match was when a video aired showing the assault from Rated RKO onto Flair the week before NYR - apart from that the match was a regular 1-on-1 match that you would expect from RAW. The wrong person wins after an ironic ending to the match. WINNER: KENNY DYKSTRA 5/10 VICTORIA VS. MICKIE JAMES (WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP) A pretty good match coming from the Diva division. Mickie and Victoria are the best Divas on RAW, and they gave an entertaining match that the crowd was really into. A little short, and the ending was too sudden, but a good Diva match nonetheless. WINNER: WOMEN'S CHAMPION MICKIE JAMES 6/10 D-GENERATION X VS. RATED RKO/ EDGE & RANDY ORTON (WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP) The best match on the card, without a doubt. This was the most hyped match for the PPV and could've gone either way - Rated RKO and D-X were 1-1 and this was the finale. The lack of a stipulation takes a bit away from this match, but we still see a lot of violence from D-X after Triple H injures his right quad. Like King and J.R. say constantly throughout this match, it isn't about the Tag Team gold. D-X pretty much annahilate Rated RKO in the early going, but an unexpected injury on the part of Triple H allowed Rated RKO to begin a disection process on HBK and the Game. Given around 25 minutes, this was the longest match on the card and saw Orton, Edge and HBK bleed following shots from Steel Chairs and the World Tag Team titles. If you hate Orton then you will love what happens in this match (he bleeds just as bad as Eddie Guerrero did during his classic match at Judgment Day 2004 vs. JBL - maybe worse). Rated RKO really should've won cleanly as it was in Orton's home state, but D-X snapped and unleashed hell before being DQd. A good ending to the Rated RKO/ D-X feud, and a great tag team match. D-X did what they said they would do: destroy Orton and Edge. And Rated RKO did what they said they would do: end D-X. WINNERS: NO CONTEST or RATED RKO VIA DQ (DEPENDING ON HOW YOU LOOK AT IT) 10/10 CARLITO VS. CHRIS MASTERS Not as good as their match at Backlash in April last year, but still entertaining. This was used as time for the King and J.R. to talk about the brutality of the World Tag Team Championship match, but it was still quite good and showed how Masters has improved since last year. Another poor ending (like the controversial Flair/ Dkystra match) but the aftermath allowed Masters to look more credible. WINNER: CHRIS MASTERS 7/10 UMAGA VS. JOHN CENA (WWE CHAMPIONSHIP) This was always going to be entertaining, in my opinion, as Umaga is an entertaining brawler and puts on a good in-ring performance when up against stars like Cena, HBK and Triple H. This was Umaga's first WWE Championship match, with the match being Title (Cena) vs. Streak (Umaga). WWE decided to forget that Umaga had already beaten Cena in the past, and made this out to be a first-time-ever confrontation - they had already fought twice before. A very sudden ending but it gave Umaga more credibility and allowed the feud to continue into the Royal Rumble and a brutal Last Man Standing match. As with the Cena/ Khali match that will take place at Judgment Day this year, this feud was to get the fans back behind Cena and it worked to a degree (there will always be people who dislike Cena for having such long title reigns). A very entertaining match and led nicely into their second encounter at the Royal Rumble. WINNER: WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA 9/10 EXTRAS: K-FED VS. WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA - NO DQ Not only was this a complete waste of time, but it was also heavily hyped for months and - as it was aired New Year's Day - people expected some action. Instead this match is ten minutes of Cena wanting a fight, with K-Fed constantly stopping the match to 'warm up'. In the end Cena begins to destroy K-Fed but then Umaga enters and destroys Cena. The 5-on-1 match from later in the night would have been better than this match, but it was still better than the second extra match. WINNER: K-FED 3/10 EXTRAS 2: McMAHON PRESENTS "DONALD TRUMP" VS. "ROSIE O' DONNEL" Don't watch this. That's my honest opinion of this match as it was 10 minutes of Donnel shoving Trump over, before he gets a cheap win with a pie to the face of the 'fat one'. Even worse than the Cena/ K-Fed match... WINNER: DONALD TRUMP 0/10 Overall this PPV isn't fantastic, but it does have to great championship matches and, if you regularly buy the WWE DVDs, is well worth a look. If you just buy the occassional WWE DVD then you should buy either Unforgiven 2006 (Hell in a Cell, Orton vs. Carlito, TLC Match), Armageddon 2006 (Inferno Match, Ladder Match, Last Ride Match, Batista/ Cena vs. King Booker/ Finlay) or Royal Rumble 2007. If you get the WWE DVDs because of appealing extras, then don't get this - get No Way Out with three exceptional matches (Cena/ HBK vs. MVP/ Kennedy, Batista/ Undertaker vs. Rated RKO, and Cena/ HBK/ Undertaker/ Batista vs. Rated RKO/ MVP/ Kennedy). OVERALL: 7/10
