WWE Tries To Go Extreme,
By
This review is from: WWE: One Night Stand 2007 (DVD)
Unlike the previous two years where this was an ECW event, all of WWE was represented on this PPV and after seeing the last ECW PPV...count your blessings that this wasn't an Vince McMahon ECW show. The format is very similar to how WCW did their Uncensored PPV back in '95 & how WWE does their Taboo Tuesday/Cyber Sunday events in which every match has a special stipulation/gimmick to it. It made for a very unique PPV by WWE standards.
Stretcher Match: RVD vs. Randy Orton - The rules for this one are to put your opposition on a stretcher & carry them across the finish line at the entrance way. As a personal note, this is ironic for me since this is RVD's last match in WWE & one of the very first RVD matches I ever saw was against Sabu in ECW...in a stretcher match. This match had RVD selling his concussion from the previous week while Orton was targeting his head. RVD was able to pull off the shocking upset win in the end but Orton got the last word with him delivering a DDT onto the floor with RVD hanging off the barricade. Tables Match: Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, C.M. Punk vs. New Breed - ECW comes back to the event that they created. This match was real short & was the usual ECW style brawl similar to their WM match with it not having enough time for everyone to get their spots in but it was a good entertaining match for what it was. Ladder Match: World Tag Team Champions The Hardys vs. World's Greatest Tag Team - Knowing the Hardys reputation in ladder matches with this being Jeff's 4th ladder match & Matt's 3rd in under a year along with Shelton's showstealing performances in the first two Money In The Bank along with him & Hass' outstanding performance in their "forgotten" ladder match again Tajiri & Eddie Guerrero...you just knew this was going to be the match of the night which it was. The match started out as a brawl then the ladders were brought into play to make moves more high impact such as Hass being slammed off the top rope onto the ladder, Shelton being backdropped on one lying on the ring apron, and the Hardys shoving Hass & Benjamin off the ladder with Shelton going over the top rope & hitting a ladder on the way down. This wasn't a spotfest but was still a great match that was worthy of going on the ladder match DVD if this match happened earlier in the year. Lumberjack Match: Kane vs. Mark Henry - Eventhough it was a lumberjack, Kane & Henry made it clear that they didn't need or want any help to get back into the ring whenever they were knocked out. This was the typical lumberjack match where the heels will help the heel as the faces did the same for the face. In the ring, this was a nice for a big man match with Henry not having to be carried or Kane overselling Henry's offense to make him look credible. The ending with Kane passing out in a bearhug was the only weak point in this match for me. Street Fight Match: ECW Champion Mr. McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley - As expected, Shane McMahon & Umaga came out with Mr. McMahon and look out for Lashley doing a "crash & burn" trying to dive over the top onto Umaga. The match for the most part was just like their previous match at Backlash where Shane & Umaga did the dirty work with Mr. McMahon getting in his cheap shots with Lashley only getting his offense in when they made a mistake towards the end of the match. This was the most watchable match out of their series & served it's purpose of Lashley defying the odds & getting back his ECW title but besides that, nothing special here. Pudding Match: Candice Michelle vs. Melina - With the expection of Candice almost losing her top & Melina's bikini, this was wrestlecrap at it's best. Steel Cage Match: World Champion Edge vs. Batista - Well, this heavily makes up for their Judgment Day match as Batista did carry his own weight here in this cage match. It's wasn't a bloody massacre but a watchable matchup. Falls Count Anywhere Match: WWE Champion John Cena vs. Great Khali - This was just like Judgment Day in the fact that Cena had to oversell Khali's offense to make the match someone watchable with the difference this time being that he actually got some more (but not much) offense in & used weapons like the camera boom to help him out. But in a nutshell, it was a clone of their Judgment Day match...a victory for Cena over the "monster" Khali. DVD extras include a post match interviews with Cena, Henry, and Edge along with the RVD/Orton match from the previous RAW. Overall, the first three matches were the best ones while the cage match was watchable. The rest of the matches were passable & nothing really memorable or anything to hurry up & rush to see but it looks better in comparison to the lackluster Judgment Day. I recommend this for a rental & make up your own mind.

Really poorly done,
This review is from: WWE: One Night Stand 2007 (DVD)
The only thing that make this a two star insead of one star was ok steel cage match, ok 7 min table match, and a pretty good ladder match.
1. Stretcher Match Randy Orton vs Rob Van Dam This is the worst way to end RVD's stint in the wwe I can't beleive that he was used to put over Randy Orton the match is barley any action at all and mostly RVD selling the head injury this the aftermath will make you fall asleep 6/10 2. Six-Man Table Match Cm Punk, Tommy Dreamer, and Sandman vs Elijah Burke, Monty Brown, and Matt Striker This is one of the highlights of the night it's not that long but it keeps you entertained no real high spots but just really soild 8/10 3. Ladder Match World Tag Titles Hardys vs Worlds greatest tag team This is match of the night they had a good spots and even though Charlie wasn't great with the ladder he had his great spots and hardys and shelton were great with the ladder as always if you really want this match than i guess you should buy the dvd 9.5/10 4. Lumberjack match Mark Henry vs Kane Worst match of the night would have been better if kane would have came in and laid down horrible 1.25/10 5. Street Fight ECW Title Lashley vs McMahon This is the best match of the feud but that isn't saying much it's a glorified handicap match as shane and fatu come out to help vince again and fatu does most of the work in the match and shane hits a big elbow again and tries the coast to coast but the match isn't a great ppv match again 6.5/10 6. Pudding match Melina vs Candice Michelle Come on Pudding horrible this isn't really even a match but they both look hot 1/10 7. Steel Cage Match World Title Edge vs Batista This match is better than the other match on the card but still not great they both worked pretty hard but still Steel cage and no blood man this is the worst ppv of 2007 but the match is good no real high spots just solid which is a breath of fresh air 8/10 8. Falls Count Anywhere Match John Cena vs Great Khali This isn't a way to end a ppv let me tell you the match cena and khali brawl in the ring they go outside then to the crowd cena fights back khali gets the match back in his hands and then Cena hits a fu off of a crane The end bad ppv and bad finish 5.25/10

ECW ONE NIGHT STAND 2007 IS A 1 STAR PPV,

80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome 70-66%-good 65-61%-poor 60-56%-awful 1. RVD vs. Randy Orton in a stretcher match- This match was pretty good. This most likely was RVD's last match and it was a good one. They came into this match playing up the fact that RVD had a concussion and it played out in the match pretty well. There were a couple of botched spots in this match but RVD also had some good ones when he did a flying move over the tope rope and missed Orton but nailed the stretcher. RVD got the surprise win but after the match Orton laid him out. Winner RVD. Match Rating 7/10. 2. The New Breed vs. The Originals in a tables match- This was another solid match. Just a lot of fast paced action in it. It was only about 7 minutes long but there was non stop action. There is not a whole lot to say about this match except there were a couple of nice spots. Winner The New Breed. Match Rating 6.5/10. 3. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Worlds Greatest Tag Team in a ladder match for the World Tag Team Titles- This match went really good. This was the match that in my opinion saved this ppv. For a first timer these two teams did a great job. This match was also just non stop action and spot fest galore. There was a couple moves were Matt hardy through Shelton into the ladder. Matt was set up on the outside and Shelton jumped off a ladder inside the ring onto matt. Shelton also went to hit Matt and he got back dropped over the top rope onto the ladder outside the ring. As you can see a great match and a high point on this ppv. Winner and still World Tag Team Champs the Hardy Boyz. Match Rating 8.5/10. 4. Mark Henry vs. Kane Lumberjack- This was when the match started to sink quite a bit. Now I was not expecting this match to be good and I was right it sucked. Henry is so old now he can barley move and Kane tired to carry him to a good match it did just not work. Not much to say about this match except you can skip it. Winner Mark Henry. Match Rating 2.5/10. 5. Vince McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley in a street fight- This match was not as bad as there last match at judgment day that lasted less than 2 minutes. This was a three on one match to start anyway but lashley ended taking Umaga and Shane down to leave this up to Vince and him and he took advantage. There were some nice spots in this match including a couple of chair shots to the head of Vince and the back of Lashley. Shane went for a dropkick into a trash can into Bobby's face but missed and Lashley took Vince out with the spear to win the title from Vince. Winner and new ECW champ Bobby Lashley. Match Rating 5.5/10. 6. Candice Michelle vs. Melina in a pudding match- This was about the time were you can get ready to sleep. This match all around just sucked. The girls were hot as hell but besides that it was horrible. I think the only move they pulled off was throwing pudding at each other why the hell is this match on a ppv card. Skip this except the beginning. Winner Candice Michelle. Match Rating 2/10. 7. Edge vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Title in a steel match- This was another high spot on the ppv. These two had a match at judgement and it was not that good. They started out a little slow here but than the match picked up. There were several times in this match were there were a lot of close calls to escaping the cage but every time it did not happen. There were a lot of near falls off the moves in the ring including batista kicking out of a spear. The match ended were Edge won cleanly again which was a surprise. Good job by both men. Winner and still WHC Edge. Match Rating 8/10. 8. John Cena vs. The Great Kalhi in a street fight for the WWE Title- This was another poor main event put on by WWE. Like last months match Kalhi dominated the whole thing till the end which was really boring. This was about a 10 minute match which is awful for the main event and for him to get dominated the whole match and pull it out was ridiculous. Another bad thing is he wins every time and that's not winning viewers it losing them. Winner and still WWE champ John Cena. Match Rating 4.5/10. Well that raps up another. I would give ECW One Night Stand 2007 a grade of 44.5/80 which is a 56% which means this is an awful ppv. It sounds bad but there were not a lot of matches that were good except for the tag team ladder match. If you can tell me if my review was helpful or not I would appreciate that. Thanks for your time.

The one night that the superstars of Raw, Smackdown & ECW go extreme, can Batista defeat Edge to recapture the World Title and will The Great Khali become the WWE champion and end John Cena's reign?-Stretcher Match, Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam: Orton had recently taken out Shawn Michaels and he had given RVD a concussion just before this event. There's some good action, RVD kicks and stomps Randy early on but once he gets hit in the head RVD seems off and really sells the "concussion" he has. They make good use of the stretcher and while pushing RVD towards the white line, Orton gets kicked, lands on the stretcher and RVD pushes him over the finish line to shockingly win. 6/10. The aftermath sees Randy DDT RVD off the barricade into the ringside mat. -Six Man Table Match, CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman vs. Elijah Burke, Marquis Cor Von & Matt Striker: A good one here, there's the usual double teaming with the other team preventing their partners from going through the tables. Sandman uses the cane a few times and takes a couple of spills, Punk has a good showing as he had a rivalry going with the New Breed, namely Burke. Punk suplexes Striker off the top rope through a table that Burke was laying on to win the match. 7/10. -Ladder Match for the World Tag Team Championship, The Hardy's (Champions) vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team: Great, great forgotten ladder match, there's tons of hard falls by all four men. Hass takes a couple of spills that really seem to hurt him, good poetry in motion that sandwiches Haas and Benjamin in ladders. Nice spot where Shelton got sent over the top onto a ladder, then later the Greatest hit their trademark hotshot/leap by Shelton as he jumps off a ladder in the ring and drives Matt into a ladder onto the outside. Near the end Shelton gets thrown off a ladder and lands on a ladder on the outside, then the Hardy's grab the titles to retain. 10/10. -Lumberjack Match, Mark Henry vs. Kane: Superstars surrounded the ring to toss either of these guys back in the ring, however both men fought off the lumberjacks as they wanted it kept just between them. Unfortunately the match is also quite slow and plodding, both men try Kane does hit a nice diving clothesline to the outside onto some lumberjacks. Henry wasn't able to do much more then lock on a bearhug near the end, Kane passed out and Henry won. 4/10. Side note: Sorta eerie that this was Chris Benoit's last PPV appearance, given what would happen just 2 weeks after this event took place. -Street Fight for the ECW Championship, Vince McMahon (Champion) w/Shane McMahon & Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley: Much like the previous PPV matches they had, Shane and Umaga took it to Bobby, Vince got in some cheap shots and Lashley gets his moves in when he has an opening. It was all about Lashley overcoming the odds and after a miscue by Shane & Umaga, Bobby takes it to the chairman and hits a big spear to win the ECW title. 5/10. -Pudding Match, Candice Michelle vs. Melina: Yes these women look good, this "match" isn't worth watching at all, its crap. 0/10. -Steel Cage Match for the World Heavyweight Championship, Edge (Champion) vs. Batista: Edge kept trying to evade the animal, but Batista got his hands on Edge and worked him over some. Both make good use of the cage, Edge does gain an advantage after Batista hits the top rope groin first. He removes the turnbuckle pad, can't slam Batista's head into it and Batista hits a superplex on Edge soon after. Both keep battling and Batista just beats up Edge, hotshotting him into the cage wall but only gets a 2. Later Batista goes through the door and his hands touch the floor but Edge goes over the top and lands feet first to retain his title. 7/10. -Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWE Championship, John Cena (Champion) vs. The Great Khali: Cena sells, sells, sells and oh he sells Khali's offense, he doesn't get much in cept when Khali misses a leg drop then Cena tries to kep the monster down but gets a chop and sent to the floor. Cena blocks the big chop but gets sent into the crowd, they fight through the fans and to the entrance way where John slams a camera into Khali's head but he kicks out at 2. They fight up to a crane in the entrance where Cena hits the FU off the crane to the floor, then pins him to retain his title. 5/10. Its not a great event but a couple of matches make it worth viewing or getting for a cheap price.

WWE One Night Stand. It's absolutely nothing like the two One Night Stand shows before it, as those were ECW shows. This is a WWE show, so don't expect the same action you got from the previous One Night Stands. It has some matches worth checking out particularly early on, but it also has a few craptastic stinkers as the card goes on.
1. Stretcher Match- Rob Van Dam vs. Randy Orton= This is a true blue storytelling match. And for the most part, it tells it well. However, there are a few spots in here that really make you feel like if they had let these two just go at it without the concussion angle, they really could've torn in up. But still, not bad. 3 out of 5. 2. Six Man Tag Team Tables Match- CM Punk, The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von and Matt Striker= Fun match. Not too long, but moves at a nice pace. Won't be anything mind-blowing, but it's just an entertaining tables match. 3 out of 5. 3. Ladder Match- The Hardys vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team(World Tag Team Championship)= There are some ladder matches that are considered all time classics. Then are some ladder matches, for whatever reason, go completely unnoticed. This is one of the unnoticed ladder matches. You have a conversation about some of the best ladder matches in history, this one will rarely come up. But it should. You have two of the greatest tag teams in history going at it in a ladder match. Great action, great spots, this is one to watch. 5 out of 5. 4. Lumberjack Match- Kane vs. Mark Henry= Wow, Chris Benoit as a lumberjack for this abomination, what a great way to spend your last PPV. Slow, plodding and boring, this match isn't worth the time or frustration. Skip this one. 1 out of 5. 5. Street Fight- Vince McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley(ECW Championship)= Pretty decent match. Features the usual Shane O' Mac highspots, so you should know what to expect there. Nothing terrible, moderately enjoyable, but nothing you'll really wanna see again after it's done. 2 out of 5. 6. Pudding Match- Melina vs. Candice Michelle= The worst "match" I've ever seen. And I've seen alot of bad matches. No redeeming qualities, I don't even see how anybody can find this sexy like they would a Bra and Panties match, it looks like they were smeared in diarrhea. Just do yourself a favor and skip. 1 out of 5. 7. Steel Cage Match- Edge vs. Batista(World Heavyweight Championship)= This match hit the ground walking, and it never picked up steam. You never had a sense of excitement in this one, it was essentially a borefest. It wasn't as bad as the other 1 out of 5's on this list, but still, this isn't something worth looking forward to. 1 out of 5. 8. Falls Count Anywhere- John Cena vs. The Great Khali(WWE Championship)= The Great Khali should never be in a main event, ever. Cena tried, he really did, and hell, he managed to carry Khali to one of the better matches of his sorry career. But it's still terrible. I can't believe this ever main evented one PPV, let alone two. 1 out of 5. I never thought I'd give a PPV that featured a 5 out of 5 rated match only 1 star, but that's when happens when you put on crap awful main events. It's cheap enough where I can recommend a purchase for the Ladder match alone, so you won't be out too much for this one. But still, don't expect much of anything out of any match after it.

This PPV stinks. There were only 3 good matches at ONS and they were:The Steel Cage match for the World's title, the 6 man tag team table match & the ladder match for the World tag team championship. The worst matches were the Pudding match which was pointless as teaching a dog how to speak human and the lumberjack match which was dumb as the movie:FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY. the rest were second to third-rate. I give this event a 5 out of 10.

2007 marked the first year the One Night Stand pay per view wasn't exclusive to the ECW brand. It feels like another cheap wrestling pay per view. Vince McMahon was obviously not on board with the idea of the original ECW and it's great One Night Stand pay per views. Scratch this dvd off your "to watch" list.

RVD VS Randy Orton in a Stretcher match: RVD sold his injury very well but this match was slow and boring. The ending was a surprise and the aftermath was brutal.
Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, CM Punk VS Elijah Burke, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von: A very short match that could have been give more time. I miss Sandman. Hardys VS World's Greatest Tag Team in a ladder match: This might be the worst ladder match in the history of the WWE. Many moves were botched and both teams didnt look like they wanted to be hit by a ladder. Hardys retain in the worst ladder match i've ever witnessed. Kane VS Mark Henry: Ugh. The lumberjacks on the outside have more talent then the two in the ring. 2 lumberjacks attack Kane and help Henry win via bearhug. What's this the 60's? Vince McMahon VS Bobby Lashley: I refuse to watch this match. McMahon may have brought back ECW but in the early days he basically butchered the company and made the ECW originals his whipping boys. McMahon had such a big ego that he won the ECW title, which was the day ECW died. Lashley was a dime a dozen strong man, who i've always hated. He cannot wrestle and he cannot talk, kind of like a mix between Ahmed Johnson and Ultimate Warrior. Again, a more talented wrestler on the outside looking in-Umaga. Maria and Santina do a back stage promo. Maria does her famous i'm a ditz but smart when asked a question. Then she kisses Candice Michelle for good luck. I use to like Maria before WWE whored her up. Pudding Match-Skip, go watch lesbian porn instead. Edge VS Batista in a Cage match: A very good cage match with the classic two men hit the ground first but whose is the winner? ending. Khali VS Cena in a Falls Count Anywhere match: Two men with limited wrestling talent but I have enjoyed Cena in hardcore matches. The main event is kept short-about 15 minutes-for a reason. Khali dominates the match but Cena pulls out the FU out of nowhere and wins. What the f&*(? A very bad event as WWE was in a funk at the time. The cage match was the only good thing about the event and Maria kissing anther woman was cool. Do not buy this event unless you got to have every WWE dvd.

Not An ECW Show!,
This review is from: WWE: One Night Stand 2007 (DVD)
Amazon needs to make a correction for this listing. It is no longer ECW One Night Stand. It is WWE One Night Stand. All future pay per view events from this point forward will be WWE(all 3 brands) shows. Raw, SmackDown and ECW will combine for this show. Hopefully people won't pre-order this show expecting an event similar to the previous 2 One Night Stand shows.
