Mildly Entertaining,

Maybe it's because I recently revisited my past by playing Commodore 64 games but WWE Raw for PC has some really outstanding graphics for a PC game. There are different matches to choose from: Single, Tag Team, Hardcore, Triple Treat, Fatal Fourway, King Of The Ring, all championship belts are up for grabs and more options than I care to even exercise. It is old in the since that characters are from 1 year ago and that may be reflected in the price. Raven walks down the ramp with a shopping cart of harcore items and Perry Saturn walks down with Moppy. My only lament is that it seems the game is an Xbox conversion rather than a made for PC game as evident is the lack of multiple keyboard keys to enter in a wrestler's name. Pentium 500 Minimum, 64MB RAM,128 MB required for Windows XP.

This is probably the best wrestling game made for the PC. Has awesome match types. This game also has a good create a superstar feature, which allows you to take different items to create the ultimate superstar. This game has authentic entrance videos and pyrogenics. Awesome graphics and gameplay.

Not perfect, but still the best pc wrestling game ever,

PC wrestling fans have been waiting for something like this for years, and this game finally gives us something decent to play. The graphics are the best in any wrestling game right now, and you don't even need that much horsepower to play it, I'm using a geforce4mx and 1.4 Athlon with all the details enabled. Unfortunately the animation still needs improving, especially walking. The sound is awesome, you get most of the real wwe themes from the time this game was released, and the game also has great modding potential. There aren't any specialty matches, but the games weapon system makes up for this in replay value. Unfortunately, this engine needs a story mode badly. The gameplay is not as intuitive as that of the other THQ engines, but that's because it's also more realistic than the other engines, it's as if you're fighting for real and your oponent refuses to lay down for you. This means that if you're using someone like Rhyno, you won't be able to win every match with the gore, sort of like japanese wrestling. Fortunately, if you pick a "huge" superstar like the rock, your popularity will allow you to hit the rock bottom quite easily, but you really have to beat up your oponent to it the people's elbow. Anchor also needs to add a lot more moves to the create a wrestler section, I mean not only are booker t and RVD missing from the roster, the spinaroonie's also missing! I also miss the excellent create a stable feature from smackdown. There are some stables already programmed in the game, but you can't make new ones, and other tag team partners always enter the ring separately. The stables I've seen so far are Xfactor (3 members), the entire Holly family (3), Team Extreme (3), and Edge & Christian. I love the game, and I hope THQ also ships RAW2 for the PC, because wrestling is one of the most underdeveloped genres in PC gaming and I am sure many people would pay good money to see mr. Monday Night, the Gold Freak, and the 5 time WC champion!

WWE RAW - PC GAME REVIEW,

Hi all,This game was my first experience with wrestling games and i later found out that this was the only good game for wrestling which currently exists in PC!!!! Why THQ is not releasing any future releases is still a mystery?!!! According to me there is no doubt that this game rocks in graphics and sound. A full 10 for that!!! But the game play is quite boring after some time.. Also the unrealistic grapple..i.e hold and grapple was quite annoying... The inclusion of ladder match and cage match could have made this game topped the charts!! But unfortunately it was not there... Also the rocks elbow was a mystery move to me.. It happened suddenly in one game..But how to do it properly is still a mystery to me. Any one who can help with it send a mail to haran_3k@rediffmail.com. Also one tip to win every match very easily is this.. Just as ur opponent falls down..Just cover him and keep on tapping s and d together(i.e the same key which u tap to escape from pin).. That's it..He can't escape from ur pin.. I'm not sure this a flaw or what?

Finally a decent wrestling game for PC!,

I'm a big fan of both old WWF and WWE and since I never owned PS1, PS2, X-Box, or Gamecube, I always wanted a wretling game to come out for PC. I searched for PC wrestling games online and I found WCW Nitro and few other 2D games that's practically dead (WWF In Your House, etc). So I tried the WCW Nitro demo and I was surpriesed! I was so surprised of the gameplay, graphics, and sound! I was amazed. Amazingly bad and hard and it was boring! So eventually, I gave up on the only PC wrestling game that I knew of. Until, I read from a magazine that WWE RAW was coming to PC. I couldn't been anymore excited. So right away I got it after it came out and started playing it as soon as I got home. I was again, amazed. I was amazed by the graphics, sounds, and gameplay. The graphics are tremendous and so is the sound. There are no commentary but that's no big deal to me. The entrances were pretty impressive like the Undertakers entrance and few other entrances like Hardy Boys. The gameplay was good but controls were hard to get used to at first. Only real dissapoinment that I had in the game was the difficulty, controls, and types of games. There was no storyline modes like the console versions but I came up with my own :)Just don't expect something extraordinary. I gave it 5 stars because it's the only good wrestling game for PC. If this game was compared to other wrestling games for consoles then I would've gave it about 3 1/2 stars. Anyway, this game is very good game to have and must have for PC gamers. Sorry if this wasn't helpful to you. I was in a hurry.

WWE Raw for the pc is quite a okay game. Isnt the best game or the worst game in the market. The graphics are okay. The sound is okay and the real raw music is there. There is also a good amount of replay value. Of course not as good as raw 2 on x-box or Smackdown on ps2.There are good elements and bad elements. You can smash a table but you cannot climb a ladder. There is no storymode involved in the game which makes it a bit boring. There is a cool museum mode where you can see your favourite wrestling biographys. There is a good tutorial at the beginning to help you out. It is hard to go backstage. There is no commentary. When you press c you can attack superstars when their on their way to the ring. There are a large amount of superstars to choose from including Kurt Angle and Triple H.There are bone shatering finishing moves and loads of match types to choose from.No hell in a cell, ladder or table match.Reasonable entrances, very authentic. Overall very good game but has some flaws so only gets 4 stars.I hope you found this review helpful.

Poor wrestling game by consol standards, good for PC though,

This is the same exact game that came out 18 months ago for the X-Box. To prove it, the game still uses WWF and not WWE. The roster was not updated, so its still the roster from late 2001. There is no story mode (Road to Wrestlemania), instead there are championship modes where you need to go through 12 wrestlers to get a title shot. The Raw arena is the ONLY arena and there are no backstage areas. Nor is there any real hardcore action, because even though there are 100s of weapons, these weapons are helmets, tables, jack-o-lanterns, chairs, bandanas and so on. The wrestlers do not bleed at all, not even with a code! There is a pretty deep create-a-wrestler feature, however you can only create 16 wrestlers even though this is a PC game! There is no RVD, Mysterio, Booker T and so on, however there is Rhyno, Spike, X-Pac, Credible and Haku. There are very few modes, exhibition and the king of the ring tournament. There are no table matches, ironman matches, or 6 man tag matches (even though the game lets 6 wrestlers in the ring at the same time). At least all of the titles are in the game that were in the WWF in 2001, Hardcore, Heavyweight, Light-Heavyweight, European, Women's, and Intercontinental. The play is very unbalanced, such as the Rock and the Undertaker can undoubtedly beat up K-Kwik and Taka, so there is no chance raising a new star! Another detail to the game is the new stamina bar, where your wrestler will get *winded* the more he runs and does power moves. So Rhyno cannot do gore after gore, because he would get tired. With there being a stamina bar, there is also a *voltage* bar, which is basically one long bar that determines who is winning and when you can do finishing maneuvers. The controls are unique, where you have an attack, grapple, block and action button. The attack button is capable of several attacks, such as hold up and press the attack button will do a dropkick, hold down and press the attack it will be a kick or a punch. It?s the same with the grapple button. The action button can do anything from perform a taunt, pin an opponent, pick up weapons, put on clothes and climb the turnbuckle. The graphics and sound are amazing, but what fun is the game if there are no modes to keep you interested in?

this is a great wrestling game but i think they should work on a few things like more match types, more wrestlers and would it hurt to add some old ones? i dont mean really old i just mean like the coporate ministry,it may not exist anymore but i personally think it was one of the most memeroble times.adding a storyline would make this game a top class game even if you use an old storyline it shows inprovement. overall this is a good game but i'm begging you please put a storyline in the next one. |
