This review is from: WWE: Satan's Prison - The Anthology of the Elimination Chamber (DVD)
Todd Grisham host this DVD anthology of every Elimination Chamber contest to date including the 2005 edition with Chris Benoit making this the very first DVD that Chris Benoit has been featured on since his death in 2007. You will also hear from various past contestants in this match throughout the presentation including Batista, John Cena, Edge, and John Morrison.

World Champion Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Booker T vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho - This was the first ever Chamber match & everyone looked like they could win the belt as one point or another and this match had a bunch of moments in itself. Like RVD jumping off the walls like he was Spider Man and even leaping off the top of one of the cells onto HHH & injuring his throat in the process...and even HHH's performance after that injury is something worth watching.
Survivor Series 02

World Champion Triple H vs. Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton - This was suppose to be Goldberg vs. Triple H however Triple H suffered a groaning injury so it was turned into a Chamber match. This was a match that had multiple stories being told such as Randy Orton protecting Triple H's championship, Kevin Nash going for revenge against Chris Jericho for his recent haircut, Shawn Michaels ultimately showing his best friend Nash that it's every man for himself, Nash doing heavy damage before walking out of what would be his last WWE match, and Goldberg being a dominate monster such as taking Chris Jericho through one of the pods. This was one of those matches where you have to understand the story they're telling as Goldberg just wasn't getting over as hoped in WWE (weather that's WWE's creative or Goldberg's own fault is another debate for another time) so this was booked to have Goldberg return to his old WCW dominate monster character to get him over...again, a match where you have to understand what they're doing to value it.
Summerslam 03

World Championship Match w/Special Referee Shawn Michaels: Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Edge vs. Triple H - After a controversial ending to a title match, this was setup to crown a new champion. Various highlights including Jericho & Benoit starting out the match with Jericho delivering one heck of superplex, various wrestlers feeling the impact of being dropped on the Chamber floor, Edge spearing everyone in sight...and I mean EVERYONE, the HHH/Benoit/Orton sequence that went from a crossface to a sharpshooter to an RKO, Benoit's diving headbutt from the top of one of the holding cells, Jericho being Batista-bombed on top of Benoit, and the issues between Orton & Evolution...along with the tease between Triple H & Batista...continuing. Overall, great Chamber match.
New Years Revolution 05

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Kane vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. Carlito vs. Chris Masters - This was the first time the WWE Championship was defended in the Chamber match & had multiple stories being told throughout this match such as Shawn Michaels starting out first at the orders of Mr. McMahon while Carlito & Chris Masters agreed before hand to remain a team throughout the contest. Various moments include Carlito sacrificing himself while doing a somersault senton to the Chamber floor, Angle german suplexing everyone he could get his hands on, and the teamwork of Carlito & Masters dominating before they divided & were conquered. This is one of those Chamber matches just like SummerSlam '03 in that the purpose was to get a talent over in one match by being so dominate & in this case, it was Carlito & Masters..but it was the aftermath of this match that resulted in in WWE receiving their highest television ratings in years.
New Years Revolution 06

ECW Champion Big Show vs. Bobby Lashley vs. C.M. Punk vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Test vs. Hardcore Holly - This chamber was full of first as this was the first time the ECW Championship was defended in a chamber, first time this match ever happened on an ECW branded PPV, and the first time this was match was converted into an "Extreme" Elimination Chamber which meant that each holding cell held a weapons such as a chair (Punk) & barbed wire baseball bat (Show) & table (Lashley) & Crowbar (Test)...and it turns out this was also be the last & only time an Elimination Chamber would happen under all these circumstances. Before the match, it was revealed that Sabu had been attacked & be unable to compete so he was replaced with Hardcore Holly while Paul Heyman it was made clear that it was Test & Holly's jobs to keep the championship secure for Big Show. Moments during his match include RVD once again showcasing the abilities of "Spider Man", Punk's match against RVD that involved his steel chair, Test taking a page out of Carlito's playbook from the previous year when it came to Holly (and the referee botching the count on top of that), Test delivering one hell of an elbow job onto RVD with the end result being the fans chanting "Where's My Refund", and Lashley's dominate performance. This chamber match is more well-known for everything that's happened behind the scenes in regards to the conflicting views of how this match (along with the entire PPV & brand itself) should be booked as it was filled with various disappointments from the crowd such as Sabu being replaced by Holly, the eliminations of Punk & RVD, and how this probably ended up becoming one of the most predictable Chamber matches in history.
December to Dismember 06

Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Finlay vs. Great Khali vs. Big Daddy V vs. M.V.P. - Taker & Batista started it off & continued their "on again/off again" feud that been going on for the past year throughout the match with everyone else being bodies for Taker & Batista to go though throughout the match & keep them strong. Big Daddy V & Khali were the first two from pods to come out & didn't even make it to the next period with the only thing memorable about their time in the match was Undertaker falling out of the chamber after a Daddy V headbutt that didn't look planned. Other moments to look out for were Hornswoggle creeping out from the bottom of the chamber to hand Finlay the weapon (sorry, can't remember how to spell it), M.V.P.'s interaction with Undertaker from Taker waiting for his pod to open to his elimination via a chokeslam off the top of the pod, and the final moments with Taker finally getting the victory.
No Way Out 08

Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. J.B.L. vs. Umaga - Jericho & Michaels started until Umaga entered & dominated with moves such as a double Samoan Drop on Jericho & Michaels hitting his Samoan Wrecking Ball to Jericho through one of the pods later in the match. Other moments to look out for here was the old school Jericho/Benoit "Walls Of Jericho/Crossface" combination done by Jericho & HBK onto Umaga, what J.B.L. did after being eliminated, Umaga's elimination before Jericho & Michaels got eliminated back to back, and the final minutes between Triple H & Jeff Hardy before Triple H finally got the victory with a pedigree on a chair. Unlike the other chamber where everyone else was just a body to put over Taker & Batista, Umaga was re-established as a "Samoan Bulldozer" & Hardy was still put over strong in defeat.
No Way Out 08

WWE Champion Edge vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Vladimir Kozlov - I feel that this is easily the worst Chamber match they've done because due to the 10 min. period where it was first Kozlov just beating up Jeff Hardy who didn't get in any legit offense before Big Show entered & just joined in taking turns beating up Hardy. Normally, the Chamber match is like how the Royal Rumble or Money In The Bank Ladder Match is where it's just non-stop action but that wasn't the case here as that Big/Kozlov/Hardy period just seemed to drag, got boring, and took the audience (the crowd & me personally) out of it. Although this match had a bunch of fun highlights like the shocking first elimination along with the final showdown at the end, it wasn't a bad chamber match but all the other ones they've done have were better. And for those history buffs, this is the first time in the history of the WWE Championship that it's ever changed hands in some type of official cage match.
No Way Out 09

World Champion John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Mike Knox - As the chamber match earlier in the night (or the previous match on this disc) wasn't full of surprises & certain highlights, this one topped it. Various highlights include what happened to Kofi Kingston, John Cena's time (or lack of) in the chamber, and Rey Mysterio being the M.V.P. of the match by putting on his best in-ring performance in over a year with his various "spider Man" moments using the chamber walls & his interaction with Edge throughout the match. This was the best chamber of the night as it had non-stop action from the beginning to middle to the end.
No Way Out 09

WWE Champion Sheamus vs. Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase - Before the match started, you got a bit of a "chuckle" moment as Kofi Kingston made his way to the ring & checked behind himself to make sure he didn't get jumped again like how he was by Edge the previous year. This Chamber match made history as it was the first time that all six participants where in the match at the same time with no previous eliminations which made for such moments as both Kofi & Cena & Orton performing signature moves over the top rope onto the chamber floor, Randy Orton focusing on Sheamus to the a positive reaction from the crowd, the relationship between Legacy in the match before Cody Rhodes made an appearance that resulted in Ted Dibiase "picking his poison",... 4.0 out of 5 stars PREPARE TO ENTER SATAN"S STRUCTURE!, September 5, 2010
This review is from: WWE: Satan's Prison - The Anthology of the Elimination Chamber (DVD)
WWE has released another dvd that focuses on 1 match (the other being Bloodbath from, I think 03 or 05? And the awesome HIAC set). The Elimination Chamber is one of the most demonic structures ever invented (I still think HIAC is THE most demonic structure, but EC is just right under it). For those that havent seen a EC match, don't remember them, or just ordered the ppvs or them, this set is for you. They have every EC Match from SSeries 02 (the first) to EC 2010. SO let's get to em!!!

Please note: Don't remember all of what happened in these matches because I haven't seen them in awhile. I;m giving a review now before re-watching on purpose because I do don't want to give all the good stuff away. If I did, what's the point in buying since you'd already know the good parts? I may throw in some good parts to generate interests though.

HHH (c) vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Booker T vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho - this was the first EC match. a lot of people say this was the best one. idk which EC match is best to me, but this was a good one, a real real good one. I say the MVP is RVD. He was very innovative here & when he did the 2 Star, it was very daring/brave of him to come off the chamber pod. Kane was good. Gave it his all in there. Just wish he lasted longer. Same with Booker T. Jericho was great here too. HHH, of course, ALWAYS has to last long. I feel he shouldve been eliminated earlier. but THANK GOD he FINALLY lost the Title. HBK won & 5th, and now, last World Title. I feel he shouldve had it longer or had another run.

HHH (c) vs. Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton - Didnt like this one too much, but it was good. I thought HBK should;ve won this one just because he was my favorite in this match. I'm a fan of his. My 2nd pick was Jericho. But, HHH won. Shouldve predicted that. I gotta hand it to Orton though. I took a lot of finishers in a row (dont remember who's or how many). Goldberg had a dominant performance so I feel he really should've won. (if not HBK or Jericho). But then again, maybe they felt he wasnt getting as over as they hoped or wanted? Cant say as I don't work for WWE & dont wanna say this should or shouldnt happen because of this or that. I'm not a WWE employee & dont wanna pretend to be one. Nash did ok. Just didnt last long.

Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Edge vs. Triple H (Ref: HBK) - There was no champion going into this as a result of a controversial ending to a previous Title bout. Plenty of highlights that I do not want to give away. Let's just say this showed that WWE wasn't as bad in 2005 as some thought.

John Cena (c) vs. Kane vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. Carlito vs. Chris Masters - I think this was the first time that the WWE Title was defended inside this dreaded structure. HBK started first because of Vince, Carlito/Masters teaming up till one turned on the other (you knew it'd happen eventually lol. In a Title match, how can it not?) are just a few stories that are told here & in a great way. The aftermath is what made it VERY GOOD for me....."You Think You Know Me"

Big Show (c) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. C.M. Punk vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Test vs. Hardcore Holly - I did not see this yet & Idk if I ever can/will. I could never watch WWE's ECW (except for ONS 05 since that was ORIGINAL ECW). I did like that RVD was in it cuz he knows how to use the Chamber & he;s innovative. Also like that Punk was in here cuz that this time, he was thought as the future and was REALLY GOOD at SSeries 06 so he deserved to be in a Title match.

Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Finlay vs. Great Khali vs. Big Daddy V vs. M.V.P. - One of my favorites because it was the continuation of the UT/Batista rivalry, which rejuvenated Batista & his career in my & many other people's opinions. Didn't like that BDV & TGK were in it, but Finlay was good enough to be there. MVP was & still is the future. THen you have the first 2 who were also the last 2, which is what I liked about this BEST, UT & Batista. MVP got chokeslammed off the top of the Chamber pod & Taker did an AMAZING counter into a Tombstone.

Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. J.B.L. vs. Umaga - Took place the same time that the match before this, NWO 08. Highlight for me was Jeff Hardy & HHH. There were other good stuff too. Jericho has always been one of my favorites. He was an awesome face. But his current heel persona is by far, his very best to me.

Edge (c) vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Vladimir Kozlov - Only remember 3 things about this:

1. Edge was eliminated very quickly! Don't think that was done before.

2. Taker picking up Jeff Hardy from the concrete (when I first saw it, the way he did made me think he was gonna do a sidewalk slam, but instead it was the dreaded Tombstone)

3. The last 2 men gave it their all. Taker & HHH. I don't like HHH. But Taker can work great with anyone and HHH is no exception. And HHH is a great wrestler. I'm not taking anything away from him. Just cuz I don't like him doesn't mean I'm
not gonna admit he's a great wrestler cuz he is. If he wasn't, he wouldn't last this long. They would've let him go before DX was born if he wasn't this good. Just wish Taker won. But in the end, the fans won because Taker losing this meant the classic WM25 match between UT & HBK happened. Had Taker won, the WM25 wouldn't exist.

John Cena (c) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Mike Knox - It was supposed to Be Kofi Kingston in here (wish it was. He's innovative enough to use this Chamber to his advantage like RVD/Jeff Hardy). It was a good match & it was this very match that made me, for the first time, notice & see WWE's brilliant youth movement. Credit to them for that strategy. Veterans cannot go all year long so let the young ones shine when the veterans are/aren't there. THat way, when the veterans return, they can work with the young talents & elevate them. It;s just a faster way of creating new stars. I just hope no one pulls another Brock Lesnar stunt. Taker lost to him twice (No Mercy 2002/2003) & left before Taker can pin him. Wow. Taker doesn't care...at least, I don't think he does. But still, the man put you over. You should let him get one, JUST ONE on you. I mean, he was the face. Faces eventually end up finishing the feud with the heels as winners. Anyway, back to the match. It was as good as you can expect. You had Rey, a high flyer. Jericho, who could be a high flyer when he wants to be. Kane, who's a hard worker & someone who's signature move is a high flying clothesline. Then you have Cena, Knox, and Edge. I don't remember what happened. But anytime Kane or Jericho or Edge or Mysterio is in a match, I usually enjoy it so I probably enjoyed this & you might too, esp. if you're a fan of these 4.

WWE Champion Sheamus vs. Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase - Here is another prime example of WWE's youth movement. Other than HHH, all the other guys here are seen by WWE as the future of the company. WHy else would they be here lol? Orton's inevitable face turn was set up here (actually before. But it was clearly evident here that he'd turn face) when he was pinned by none other than his Legacy team mate, Ted Dibiase. The match between HHH & his real life training/sparring partner, Sheamus, was set up here. Kofi just matured more as an in ring competitor, got more experience. And Cena was Cena. But after the match, which I think Cena won, he lost to Batista, courtesy of a Batistabomb. And that set up their Title match at WM & the feud continued till Over the Limit. Next night on RAW, Batista THANKFULLY left WWE. He got in at too old an age anyways (most retire or are damn ner close to retiring at the age Batista got in). Can't believe he lasted long & had the Title as long and as many times as he did. But maybe that's because Vince loves big guys. If he worked a limited schedule, then I can see it. And he was too injury prone. Hope he stays gone.

World Champion Undertaker vs. John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth vs. C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho - I loved this match. THis & the previous match before this took place at EC 2010. That one was good cuz it set up future WM matches & feuds. But, in terms of match quality, I personally enjoyed this more. A lot say the RAW EC was better. But, not IMO.

I don't remember what match it was in (I'm thinkin NWO 08) But Jeff Hardy did an amazing spot. Then again, he always does. So maybe he did it in all the ECs he was in. I think it was a Whisper In The Wind, Swanton Bomb, or both, off the top of the Chamber pod. I'm really leaning towards Swanton at NWO 08. Not sure though.

This is one of very few DVDs where Benoit is featured so GET IT, esp. if you're a fan of his wrestling.

Glad this is released. But idk why they released this barbaric match as an Anthology set during WWE's PG era. I mean, there's blood here that is NOT edited & unlike now, matches are not temporarily stopped for blood. Not to mention the name of the DVD, Satan's Prison. Their PG era needs to be tweaked of it;s too be worked effectively esp. long term. This is an example of that to me,

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, April 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WWE: Satan's Prison - The Anthology of the Elimination Chamber (DVD)
I never saw one of these matches in it's entirety until I got this. I have to say this is now my favorite match type next to the Royal Rumble. This is a great collection. My other favorite event is the old school Survivor Series where every match was a Survivor Series match. Back when Heenan, Slick, etc had stables which made it easier to set-up. Anyway back to the Chamber.

I fount it fun to keep track of certain stats as I watched.

Most overall wins.

Most eliminations by a single superstar in a single match (2 way tie) and over all the events. It was interesting to see how the tie between 2 participants got broken. Not too surprisingly it was between the two who shared the most appearances (as competitors - 1 other ties them for appearances in other ways). That shouldn't spoil it unless you want to research it & spoil it for yourself.

I hope they do a 2nd continuation from where they left off in about 5 years.
