4.0 out of 5 stars MUCH better than last year's edition!
I was skeptical about getting this after SVR 2008 was so bad in terms of match varieties, but this game is great. There still isn't a lot of variation in moves from wrestler to wrestler, but they have all the finishing moves down and it's fun to move the Wii remote to do the moves.

I was skeptical about getting this after SVR 2008 was so bad in terms of match varieties, but this game is great. There still isn't a lot of variation in moves from wrestler to wrestler, but they have all the finishing moves down and it's fun to move the Wii remote to do the moves.

The big improvement this year is not one, but two career-type modes. Road to Wrestlemania is a lot of fun with customized storylines. It's fairly short (spans 3-4 months) and you can only choose from 6 wrestlers, but it really is cool to see new original storylines. In the other career mode (actually called "Career Mode,") you can be anyone and it's much longer. I haven't played the "Career Mode" much yet, but it looks like it will be just as much fun as the Road to Wrestlemania. It's nothing like the lame Main Event mode they had last year, but it does seem to be much more match-driven than story-line-driven. Road to Wrestlemania is the other way around.

Finally, they included much more match types than last year. These include: TLC, tables, ladder, hell in a cell, royal rumble, back stage brawl (which is kinda lame cause it can be really short), and falls count anywhere, among others.

Great game! First of all the game has lots of old players, like Triple H and Undertaker. You can also unlock Ric Flair and Tazz. It also has really cool campaign. You get to see the backstage. You also can make choices and get goals to do to get wrestlers, arenas, matches, and entrances. Which leads me to entrances. You can come out of the backstage and build momentum when your on your way to a match. At the end of the match, if you win, you can decide what to do with your fallen opponent. But it does not have alot of matches. That is my I rated it 4 stars. Everything but that is really fun. Recommended matches are 6 man money in the bank, 6-man elimination, 4- man elimination, 20-man royal rumble, 2 on 2 Hell in a Cell Tornado tag, 1 on one fall out anywhere. Thank you for reading my review.:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Its a good game, November 19, 2008

Last years smackdown vs raw wii game was horable. This years have all the matches like the other systems. It has a good sized roster with fun interactive entrances. The Road to Wrestlmaina mode is goo but the scould add more guys it only takes like an hour per guy. I was really disapointed with not having create-a-finsher or the inferno match. Also the hot tags aren't so hot there is realy nothing spcial with the tags it is just a taunt on the apron nothing exciting happens but it is alot better than last years game so i give it 4 stars it has room for aprovment but it is a great game.

This game is simply awesome. Even if you don't or can't unlock secret characters (which are probably Wrestling Legends from the 70's, 80's and 90's) you can create them with the fully customizable feature. I already made my own Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Roddy Piper and Iron Sheik. Now they can go up against any preset wrestlers from today or any others I create! Time never flew by so quickly as it does while playing this game! The WWE has really outdone itself !!!

The game took entirely too long to arrive after it was ordered. I do not understand why it took almost a month for the game to come in. That made absolutely no sense. After I sent them an email they had it rushed to me but the intial wait was way too long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best gameplay of the consoles, July 7, 2009

Kids are a great judgement of how fun a game is, and when I brought this and my wii over to my girlfriend's parents house, and played it with her younger siblings, we indeed had great fun.

I have a ps3 and a wii and for me personally the controls on the wii are much more fun to play than smackdown on ps3. I am very happy with the fun factor of this game, the improvements over last years edition (more match types available especially,) and that the controls have been slightly expanded from last year. There's finally enough here to stay interested for a while, whereas last years showed good potential but was just way too basic.

What I dislike about this over the ps3 version, that I find pretty annoying, is that there is no DLC packs for wii owners. Surely if there can be wiiware downloads there can be downloadable content. Why is it that the Wii has been left out of the opportunity to bring in old icons like Big Van Vader and Doink the Clown? As a Wii owner who bought this version of the game I feel insulted that THQ would punish my purchase by not including dlc for wii.

With the DLC I would give this game a 5 because it really is a heck of a lot of fun. My biggest beef with the recent smackdowns on other consoles is I'm not a fan of the controls. I have 2008 on ps3 and I dislike it because of the gameplay mechanics. But smackdown 2009 on Wii really is cool.

Could play the game for hours. You don't have to be a fan of pro wrestling to enjoy this fast pace action game. Perfect for teens and adults. The only way you'll quit playing this game is getting dragged away from it.
