Editorial Reviews

In February 2011, "Z! True Long Island Story" debuted on YouTube. Little did future "Broski's" all over the world know, the real story was just beginning. Refusing to be ignored, the sunglass-clad, spike haired Superstar used the power of the internet and social media to catapult himself from relative no-name to online sensation. Fans began chanting "Woo Woo Woo" and other Superstars including John Cena began to echo their support for the man known as "Long Island Iced Z". Today, Zack competes with the upper-echelon of WWE every week and shows no signs of slowing his momentum. This compilation is the first ever DVD to focus on Zack Ryder, and it collects six of the greatest matches tracing his meteoric rise to fame, most of which have never been released on DVD!

3.0 out of 5 stars WOO WOO WOO? You Wouldn't Know It Here! August 5, 2012
vs. Christian - Before the match, we saw Ryder interrupt a confrontation between Christian & Tommy Dreamer setting up this non-title match. Christian was in control early & more aggressive than usual from the start with moves like his impactful running clothesline in the corner before Ryder was able to gain some momentum reversing Christian's own momentum. This went back & forth before Ryder was able to work on Christian's midsection with stretches, body scissors, bearhugs, and even a superplex before dropping Christian stomach first on the ring ropes. This was one of those matches that turned out better than you would have expected from the start as even the announcers pointed that out that nobody expected it to be this competitive.
"ECW On Syfy" July '09

w/Hugh Jackman vs. Dolph Ziggler - In a nutshell, this was the match to start Ryder's chase for the U.S. Title & make a "media clip" moment with Hugh Jackman's involvement but past that, the match was around 4 minutes & too short for the match itself to be anything noteworthy.
"RAW" Sept. '11
[Best Of RAW & SmackDown '11]

w/John Cena vs. Awesome Truth - This took place during WWE's tour of England with the crowd being heavily biased towards Ryder & against his partner Cena. Cena & Ryder were in control during the first half with both having fun doing the Broski boot while there was one moment where Truth was sent over the top rope with his head bouncing off the mat on the floor before Miz & Truth took control by singling one member out at a time while using tactics such as distracting the referee & double teaming while Miz continued to keep taunting Cena whenever he was working over Ryder.

This DVD contains matches from his one with Christian in ECW to him winning the US belt from Dolph. The production is great quality and delivers, but you're going to need to look at Amazon's digital selection to find some of the other matches like Zack at Night of Champions 2012 where he was featured. Must-own for Zack Ryder followers. Zack was rated at something like the 70th best wrestler or so according to some sources but in the Federation he's had highs and lows. Eventually he might get higher... heck Bob Holly put him over and was mentioned by Matt Striker.

Zack told it as it was 20 guys trying out for WWE when he was trying to get in but I've read a rumor he was selected out of 1000 guys. Anyways he'll never be in 160 PPVs like Kane, or ever top some of the talents in appearances.... but it is curious what direction the character will take after 7 years of being mostly an undercard talent without being fired. is he better than his contemporaries like Heath Slater or the quickly pushed Shield? In any case he's better than just a filler talent!

5.0 out of 5 stars The only Zack Attack on DVD August 20, 2013
By ECW Fan
This DVD (and all in the "Superstar Collection") is a short collection of matches at a budget price. My kids got a few of them for Christmas and couldn't be happier! Plus this is the only Zack Ryder DVD that WWE will probably ever make so its worth it if you're a fan

This guy needs a serious, dedicated push. Worked himself up from on the verge of being canned to getting over with the crowd. Has improved in every sense of the word. Great disc. Shame there isnt more top of the card, or even solid mid-card, matches to highlight.

5.0 out of 5 stars #areyouseriousbro July 11, 2012

It is hard to review the product and not the wrestler. This is a guy that made a horrible gimmick into something entertaining. I sincerely hope that the sales of this DVD will help WWE realize that they need to stop punishing him for creating his own pop and give him more QUALITY time on Raw.

As far as the DVD goes...
The match selection is great, given the small push that he has been given. The first and last matches are gold! Runtime is about an hour and a half. For $10 it's a good value. It has matches from late 2009 to 2011.

The only con is the production value. It's just matches, no special features (I did want to knock a star for this). It's Zack Ryder's laid-back-pop-culture style that makes him the fan favorite that he is, and only a brief video introduction before the first match shows this (he's like the type of guy that would help you move).
I also don't like that they left out his tag team with Hawkins as Edge's lackeys or the drama with Eve.

Thank you for reading my review.
