WWE Survivor Series 2009,
By
This review is from: WWE: Survivor Series 2009 (DVD)
WWE followed up last year's horrendous Survivor Series with a slightly better effort in 2009. Aside from one horrendous match, the card was mostly fine, but only one match was close to being anything special. Very forgettable show overall, but they did at least try to create some new stars and put over some young talent. The crowd was also dead for most of the night, which really hurt the show in some areas. Matches are rated out of 5 stars (*****).
1. Traditional Survivor Series Match Team Miz (Miz, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, & Jack Swagger) vs. Team Morrison (John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Finlay, & Shelton Benjamin) Decent Opener, but nothing special. It started off pretty hot with Evan Bourne working with Swagger and Ziggler, but once all three were eliminated they almost completely lost the crowd and nothing special happened. It came down to Morrison against McIntyre, Sheamus, and Miz, and he was defeated, so at least WWE threw some weight behind a few of their young and upcoming stars. **1/4 2. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio Very short match. Mysterio started off with his usual flurries of offense but after only a couple minutes Batista took control and utterly decimated him. Crowd, interestingly enough, was almost 100 percent behind Batista as he powerbombed Rey 3 times and won via stoppage. After the match, amidst chants of "one more time," Big Dave gave Rey a spinebuster on a steel chair. *1/2 3. Traditional Survivor Series Match Team Kingston (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth, & Christian) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase, William Regal, & CM Punk) Good match. It came down to Kingston against Punk and Orton, and Orton stood on the outside for almost 10 minutes as Kingston and Punk wrestled with no crowd heat whatsoever. Kingston then pinned Punk after rolling through a cradle and seconds later hit Trouble in Paradise on Orton for the win, which the crowd actually reacted to. Not a lot of heat until the very end, but it was a good match. **3/4 4. World Heavyweight Championship Match Undertaker (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Big Show First title match of the night, and it was a pretty good match. All things considered I thought these three worked well together and had a better match than I'd imagined. That being said, it didn't exactly steal the show. Good finishing sequences with several near falls broken up by the third man, until Show knocked Jericho out and got caught in the Hell's Gate for the submission. **3/4 5. Traditional Survivor Series Match Team Mickie (Mickie James, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Melina, & Eve Torres) vs. Team Michelle (Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, Layla, & Alicia Fox) This was just an awful match. Too many missed spots to mention, and there were several times when they almost killed each other with missed moves. It also seemed to go on FOREVER, and I was just begging for it to end. They must have been short on time. Anyway, Mickie and Melina are the survivors after Melina eliminates Michelle McCool. 1/2* 6. WWE Championship Match John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels Best match of the night. Not a great match but very good, only match on the card that came close to being special. HBK superkicked Hunter straight away, and then worked with Cena for a while. Triple H eventually gave shawn a spinebuster through the announcer's table and worked alone with Cena. Then in the last third of the match they had some great triple threat near falls and all three worked together. Cena eventually won, "shockingly," and found himself awash with boos (crowd was against him the whole match, when they were actually making noise). Good match though, probably saved this ppv from being in the 2/5 star range. ***1/2 This was almost a waste of a ppv. The only real commendable thing I can say about it was that they tried to get some young talent over, which they desperately need. Other than that, this was one average match after another with a very good main event. Do not buy this on dvd, if you really have the urge to watch it, rent it, but it really is not worth your money.

Can The Tag Teams Survive The Thirst For The World Titles?,
By
This review is from: WWE: Survivor Series 2009 (DVD)
Elimination Match: John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay vs. The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger - As the commentators would point out in the commentary, this is the "future of the WWE" in this match with all of those young guns involved. This had some moments I didn't care like the quick eliminations & Shelton Benjamin's time (or lack thereof) in the match but definately had it's share of highlights like Drew McIntyre's piledriver that just spiked Evan Bourne, the always underrated Matt Hardy being the workhorse that the fans know he's capable of being, the referee being a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and John Morrison putting up one hell of a fight in the end. Definately a good way to open the show but it was quite of sight seeing the sole survivors just knowing that within the coming weeks, all of them would win championships.
Right around here was a backstage skit with Kofi Kingston's team where Christian (as usual) was the highlight because he was so "different" than everyone else. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio - It should be noted that eventhough Batista came into this match as a heel for the first time since his Evolution days, he was cheered with this PPV being held in his hometown. Mysterio tried to use his speed here (including trying an old Eddie Guerrero move that the crowd booed) but kept getting caught by Dave who used his power to inflict punishment & just punish Mysterio thoughout the match to the point where it had to be stopped after 3 Batista Bombs. This was one of those "put a storyline over" matches as it heavily established the new Batista as he was more focused on embarrising & hurting Mysterio than just getting a win. Elimination Match: Kofi Kingston, M.V.P., Mark Henry, R-Truth, Christian vs. Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, C.M. Punk, William Regal - Unfortunally, this match didn't begin well as they had a series of quick eliminations but really picked up when the numbers were even at three men per team. The match was good from there but the highlight was definately when Randy Orton decided to sitout for a while & we were treated with a "match inside the match" between the former tag team champions of C.M. Punk & Kofi Kingston that made both men come out strong IMO. In the end, Michael Cole perfectly summerized this match, "A Star Is Born!" World Champion Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho vs. Big Show - This was the first of the World Title matches where tag team partners were going against the champion in a triple threat match...but this came off as a triple threat match in name only. Jericho & Show worked as a team throughout a majority of this double teaming Taker until Jericho showed that he was really out for himself by attempting to pin Show at one point & even breaking up his pin on Taker. Taker was able to take advantage of Jericho "poking the bear" in Big Show one too many times with countering the chokeslam into the Hells Gate after Show knocked out Jericho to retain the title. This was better than the Show/Taker match they had the year before but this match was just good but wasn't a standout performance from either man. Elimination Match: Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Melina, Gail Kim vs. Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Beth Phoenix, Layla, Alicia Fox - Unfortunally this wasn't the quality of the divas match we got the month before as there was various botches & missed spots in this match that was really nothing noteworthy past Beth Phoenix's domination, the Mickie James/Michelle McCool showing along with McCool being a workhorse in this match. This wasn't bad at all unlike previous multi-diva matches but definately a stepdown from the rest of the card. WWE Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H - The second triple threat title match featuring the champion defending against a tag team...however this match was completely different than the previous World Title match. This was truely every man for himself as was shown by what happened right at the opening bell that had everyone from the crowd to the announcers to Cena thinking "What The...Did I Just See That?" This match played out more as a bunch of singles matches in one instead of the usual "3 way dance" formula as there were various moments when one wrestler was taken out of the match leaving the other two to battle it out over the championship. Various moments occured such as Shawn Michaels delievering "Sweet Chin Music" to the point that Triple H got it at least 3 times, Triple H delievering a spinebuster through the announce table, and both members of DX being stacked on each other thanks to the "Attitude Adjustment." The one moments to definately look out in my opinion was this one sequence that started with Cena's STF on HHH going into a HBK crossface on Cena into an attemped "Attitude Adjustment" that morphed into another STF. This was definately a fun match to watch, the match of the night for me, and a great way to end the show. DVD extras include a look at what happened between DX after the match & Christian saying "What's Up!" to the Bella Twins. With the exception of the divas match being the weak link of the card, this was a solid event from top to bottom as not only did we get quality but WWE did a great job in establishing the talent in the elimination matches while pushing storylines & characters (like Batista's heel turn) so this is definately a PPV from 2009 that's worth taking a look at.

Two Triple Threats, Two Tag Teams, who will survive?,
By
This review is from: WWE: Survivor Series 2009 (DVD)
Two triple threat championship matches will test the stability of two tag teams, who will be the sole survivors in two 5 on 5 elimination tag matches, and finally can Rey Mysterio must up enough strength and channel his emotion into beating his former best friend, the animal Batista?Survivor Series Elimination Match, Team Miz: The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre & Sheamus vs. Team Morrison: John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Finlay, Matt Hardy & Shelton Benjamin: Bourne starts out with Swagger, who hits a big suplex and tags Ziggler who nails an impressive half nelson throw and lots of forearm shots but can't keep Evan down. After a tag to Hardy they hit dueling elbows on Dolph, Evan gets the tag, nails Air Bourne and Ziggler is gone, then Drew hits the Future Shock DDT and Evan is gone. Finlay runs in, battles with Drew who tags Sheamus then a big kick and Finlay is gone. Matt is in fights with Sheamus but succumbs to the numbers as Miz locks on a front face lock, Swagger comes in and uses a rear chin lock to wear down Hardy for a minute. Morrison gets the tag and after some good offense hits Starship Pain and Jack is gone, Miz comes in and beats up his former tag partner, Shelton gets the tag and works over Miz hitting an impressive dive from the top rope. Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale and Benjamin is gone, Matt comes in to fight with Drew, misses a moonsault and another Future Shock DDT and Hardy is gone. Its down to Morrison who tries his best and has a good showing but the numbers are too much as Sheamus hits the Celtic Cross and Team Miz survives. 8/10. -Team Raw is backstage discussing their strategy with funny comments from all especially Christian. -Rey Mysterio vs. Batista: After beating Rey up at Bragging Rights and a few other face offs in the previous weeks we have this match where two former best friends fight and the crowd is pro-Batista as this was in his hometown of D.C. Mysterio does hit some quick offense including the 619, then goes for a top rope splash but Batista gets his knee up, then hits a big spear, a spinbuster and three Batista Bombs then the ref stops the match and Batista wins. 5/10. Afterwards the medical staff checks on Rey, Batista runs them off with a chair, then hits a spinebuster on Rey onto it. -Randy Orton is backstage with his team as he runs them down, Punk fires back then Orton says they need to take out their opponents tonight. -Survivor Series Elimination Match, Team Orton: Randy Orton, CM Punk, William Regal, Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes vs. Team Kofi: Kofi Kingston, MVP, R-Truth, Mark Henry & Christian: The story here was could Kofi continue his momentum from his attack on Randy is MSG the previous Raw. It starts out as Henry attacks and locks on a bearhug on Randy, his teamates interfere and after an RKO Mark is gone, Truth comes in and battles with Punk but then a sudden GTS and Truth is eliminated. Christian battles with Ted and hits a sunset flip out of the corner and DiBiase is gone. After a tag by Kofi, MVP hits the Drive By on Regal and he gets pinned for three, he tags Christian and Cody locks on a body scissors, Randy then gets in a few shots, Cody comes back in along with MVP and after a Cross Rhodes MVP is gone. After some back and forth action Christian hits the Killswitch on Cody and he is eliminated, Christian and Orton go at it but after a Killswitch Punk distracts him and soon after an RKO to Christian and its down to Kofi on his team. Punk and Kofi fight with Punk trying to beat down the high flyer with a neck and body vice, Kofi blocks a superplex and hits a high crossbody but only for two. Orton distracts Kofi, Punk goes for a roll up but its reverses for three, so Punk is gone, then Randy comes in and gets Trouble in Paradise and he's eliminated. Sole Survivor: Kofi Kingston. 9/10. -Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship, The Undertaker (Champion) vs. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho: After some unexpected double crossing by Jericho to Show on the recent Smackdown we get to see if the tag champs will co-exist long enough to destroy the Deadman or will they simply implode? In the opening minutes they do double team Taker, with both taking some shots from the Deadman when he had an opening. Jericho hits a big superplex, then locks on the Walls, but Show comes in and chokeslams Chris and then a DDT by Taker. Jericho missed with the title belt and uses it to counter the Last Ride, but Taker kicks out then the team breaks down with Show hitting the knockout punch but Taker locks on Hells Gate on Show who taps out. 8/10. Side Note: Funny moment when Taker, Show and Jericho are on the outside where Chris yells back at a fan for something stupid he said. -Miz, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus are backstage as they talk up how they are destined for great things. -Diva's Survivor Series Elimination Match, Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, Layla, Alicia Fox & Jillian vs. Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Melina & Gail Kim: We start off with Layla and Kelly and after a jumping leg drop Layla is gone, then Gail and Michelle fight some with kim getting some quick moves in then a Faith Breaker by McCool and Gail is gone. Jillian and Eve come in next, with Eve hitting a sunset flip into a pin and Jillian is done, the Beth quickly disposes of Eve then Kelly with two Glam Slams, Mickie comes in and gets a crucifix pin and pins Beth for three. Beth is upset and attacks Mickie allowing Alicia to come in but soon after Mickie hits a Thesz Press from the top and Alicia is gone. Michelle come in and takes it to James even getting a cheap shot in on Melina before she gets the tag and attacks McCool, and soon after hits a modified Code Red and pins Michelle for the win. 5/10. -Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship, John Cena (Champion) vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H: As Shawn and Trips came out to the DX theme it seemed quite obvious they would team up to take out the champ then decide who was the better man. However at the very start Shawn hits Hunter with Sweet Chin Music knocking him out of the ring, much to the shock of everyone. What follows is a great series of wrestling by Shawn/Cena, then Trips/Cena and the expected DX face/off. The pace rarely slows down with the fans ooing and ahhing constantly, great spot where Trips hits HBK with a spinebuster through the announce table. The end is great as Trips get the Superkick, Cena hits the AA on Michaels onto Trips then covers him to retain the title. 10/10. -DX After Their Match: Exclusive home video of DX recovering right after the triple threat match, they then talk things out, high five each other and it ends. -Christian Performs a Rap for the Bella Twins: Funny and sad at the same time as Christian attempts to rap and fails miserably. This was a very good Survivor Series, all the matches flowed very well and the only average one was the Diva's match but thats nothing new.

Survivor Series Forever,
By
This review is from: WWE: Survivor Series 2009 (DVD)
Granted it's predictable and luckluster but it's still a good card. The wrestling is top-notch mainly Team Kingston vs. Team Orton. The only bad match was Rey Mysterio vs. Batisa mainly beacuse it was too short for a gruge match. The action in the HHH-HBK-John Cena match was fun and exciting mainly beacuse of HBK's superkick to HHH in the first 5 seconds of the match. Wrestling-wise,it was great and storyline-wise,it was ok.I give this event a 8 out of the 10.

(Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match)
Team Miz: United States Champion The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, & Sheamus Vs. Team Morrison: WWE Intercontinental Champion John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, & Finlay - I'll go ahead and point this out now, this is my favorite Elimination Tag Team match of the night. Bourne and Swagger has a very good showing in the opening minutes of the match with Ziggler joining in on the fun too with a few innovative spots until Ziggler's elimination by way of Bourne's Shooting Star Press. Shortly after, Bourne is eliminated followed by the elimination of Finlay by Sheamus as well. From there, the match progressed at a solid pace with the next eliminations of Jack Swagger, Shelton Benjamin, and Matt Hardy taking place. It soon becomes 1 on 3 with Morrison putting up a good fight against his opposition but it just wasn't enough as the Intercontinental Champion goes down in defeat thanks to Sheamus' "Razor's Edge-like" powerbomb. Again, this is my favorite Survivor Series Elimination match of the night. A great way to start off the 23rd annual Survivor Series and another great way to display the potential in the future WWE and Intercontinental Champions, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. 4/5 Batista Vs. Rey Mysterio - During Batista's entrance, Michael Cole points out that there's no surprise for Batista getting cheers from his hometown of Washtington DC but personally, I think the people quite frankly prefers Batista's bad side over his good side no matter where they're at. This match went just as planned in anybody's eyes with Mysterio able to use his quickness and agility to execute certain maneuvers onto the Animal but it just didn't match up to par with Batista's dominating strength. After executing three consecutive Batista Bombs, the referee stops the match and declares Rey Mysterio is unable to continue. From there, Batista truly unleashes his animalistic side as he spines Mysterio's back onto a solid steel chair with the crowd cheering "ONE MORE TIME!" This match served its purpose in showing Batista's dominating and frightening side in his quest to become World Champion again. 3.25/5 (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match) Team Orton: Randy Orton, Legacy, William Regal, & CM Punk Vs. Team Kingston: Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth, & ECW Heavyweight Champion Christian - This was another good Survivor Series Elimination match but not my favorite of the night. Right out of the gate, Orton's team did the smart thing in getting rid of the extra baggage and eliminating Mark Henry. From there, the following eliminations didn't really have a strong build up until the the last 4 competitors in the match were left. After eliminating the ECW Champion with a RKO, Orton takes a back seat ride and lets CM Punk go one on one with Kofi Kingston. Punk and Kingston battle for a good while until Punk's elimination followed by the very soon elimination of Orton shortly after. For what it's worth, this was a good Survivor Series Elimination match but like I stated earlier, this isn't my favorite SS Elimination match of the night. 3.5/5 World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. The Big Show - This is the first of 2 Triple Threat World Title matches of the night. For the majority of the match, the Unified Tag Team champions take it to the Deadman until the Undertaker is able to gain the advantage after a couple of miscues by the team of Jeri-Show which allowed the World's Champion to be in controll. The closing moments involves the Undertaker able to counter the chokeslam into Hell's Gate and getting the Big Show to tap out and retain his title. This isn't an epic World Title match but it is a nice follow up to the previous Survivor Series match. 3.5/5 (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match) WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool, Alicia Fox, Layla, Jillian Hall, & Beth Phoenix Vs. WWE Divas Champion Melina, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres, & Gail Kim - This match was what it was suppose to be, short and sweet. Most of the eliminations came quick with the majority of the eliminations not having any heat at all with multiple spots being botched along the way. The final 3 has a good showing however but nothing we haven't seen before from those certain 3 divas. For a Survivor Series Elimination match, it's all right but for a Divas match, it's pretty good. 2.75/5 WWE Champion John Cena Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H - Matt Striker said it best on commentary, this Triple Threat match is essentially 2 matches in one. Right out of the gate, Michaels blind sides Triple H by taking him out of the game with a super kick to the surprise of everyone in the building. From there, Michaels and Cena battles for a good while until Triple H reappears and sends his DX partner through the announce table. After which, the match progresses at a good pace with Triple H fighting Cena which eventually led to DX colliding with each other. The closing moments of the match features a very good series of reversals and counters from all three men until Shawn super kicks his buddy for a thrid time but afterwards, takes a F-U allowing Cena to pick up the win and retain his WWE Title. I'm not a fan of his but I will say this is one of the best title defenses I've seen from John Cena. This is a good WWE Title main event to a seemingly good Survivor Series event. 4/5 Survivor Series '09 was a huge step up to the godawful event from 2008. In my opinion, there wasn't a bad match on a card and I recommend this as a rental at best.

10-Superstar Elimination Tag Team Match: Team Miz (Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, and The Miz) vs. Team Morrison (Evan Bourne, Finlay, John Morrison, Matt Hardy, and Shelton Benjamin)
The match started out strong, with Evan Bourne hitting a ton of high-flying moves and his usual really exciting offense. Bourne hit some stiff shots and had some unique counters for Swagger, though Swagger regained the advantage with power moves and basic wrestling holds to have the chance to tag in Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler threw Bourne around like a ragdoll at first, but Bourne came back when he hit an AMAZING hurracanrana off the top ropes, where he jumped backwards and OVER the head of Ziggler! Matt Hardy came in next and hit Ziggler with the Side Effect and then tagged in Bourne, and Bourne hit Air Bourne to eliminate Ziggler! Drew McIntyre was in next and he used stiff shots to wear out Bourne and quickly hit the Double-Arm DDT to eliminate Bourne. Finlay came in and took it to Bourne with some hard shots and basic takedowns. Finlay was on a roll until Sheamus came into the ring and while McIntyre distracted Finlay, the newly tagged in Sheamus hit the Bicycle Kick on Finlay to eliminate him. The match went on with Miz's team dominating Matt Hardy and isolating him after countering his attempts to hit his finishers, but then Morrison came in and cleaned house. Swagger tried to use his usual offense on Morrison, but Morrison managed to counter the Gutwrench Powerbomb. Swagger sent Morrison flying into the corner pretty hard, but Morrison dodged Swagger's splash. Morrison then hit the Chuck Kick to knock Swagger down. Miz ran on the apron to attack Morrison, but Morrison took him out. Morrison then took Swagger down and hit the Starship Pain to eliminate him. Miz then started to dominate Morrison, whose ribs were still banged up from his match with Ziggler on SmackDown!, but Benjamin made the blind tag. Benjamin hit some impressive offense, including a corkscrew forearm smash, but all hell broke loose and the referee was knocked down when Sheamus kneed him in the back of the head. In the midst of the confusion, Miz hit Benjamin with the Skull-Crushing Finale to put him away. Matt Hardy had a burst of offense, but he was soon taken out by Drew McIntyre when McIntyre hit the Double-Arm DDT after countering the Twist of Fate. Morrison then had the odds against him, but he managed to hold his own. He knocked McIntyre off the apron and hit a Pele Kick on Miz that sent him to the outside. Morrison tried for the Chuck Kick, but Sheamus met him with a Bicycle Kick to the knee in mid-air! Sheamus followed it up with his Razor's Edge to put Morrison away and win the match for his team. Winners: Team Miz. Match Rating: 5/5 Batista vs. Rey Mysterio Ver brutal in presentation. Mysterio went for an early 619, but Batista rolled out of the ring and hit Mysterio with a Spinebuster on the ring apron. In the ring, Batista tried to keep his momentum, but Mysterio quenched it with a hurracanrana that sent Batista to the outside. Mysterio then hit a Seated Senton off the apron on Batista, but as Mysterio tried to drag Batista back into the ring, Batista attacked. Batista used the ring some more for added damage and in the ring Batista continuously stopped Mysterio's high-flying offense with power moves. Batista went for the Batista Bomb, but Mysterio countered and Batista countered another 619 attempt and hit a Spear. Mysterio hit a 619 out of nowhere to Batista's back and then to his gut and then right to his face! Mysterio followed this up with the Seated Senton, but Batista countered a Frog Splash homage to Eddie Guerrero with his knees. Batista hit a Spinebuster and then followed it up with three Batista Bombs in a row. The referee gave the match to Batista, but after the match was over, Batista Spinebustered Mysterio onto a steel chair. Winner: Batista. Match Rating: 5/5 10-Superstar Elimination Tag Team Match: Team Kingston (Christian, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, MVP, and R-Truth) vs. Team Orton (CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, and William Regal) The match started out fast, with Randy Orton's team cheap shotting Mark Henry to allow Orton to hit an RKO on the big man and get the early elimination. R-Truth and CM Punk started going at it next and R-Truth kept Punk on his toes with his high-flying offense and stiff shots. Punk managed to get Truth up for the Go To Sleep after members of his team cheap shotted Truth. Christian and DiBiase started next, with Christian and DiBiase countering a bunch of each other's moves. DiBiase battled out of the Reverse DDT and the KillSwitch, but Christian caught him with a surprise sunset flip roll-up off the second rope to eliminate the member from Legacy. William Regal tried to attack Christian, but MVP ran in and got Regal with a big boot to eliminate the Brit. Cody Rhodes ran in and battled MVP. MVP hit a bunch of basic offense and then hit Ball'n, but Rhodes countered the Playmaker into the Cross Rhodes to eliminate MVP. Christian and RHodes went at it next, but Rhodes suffered the KillSwitch and was eliminated. Randy Orton and Christian then went at it, but Christian countered the RKO and nailed the KillSwitch! Punk broke up the pin and then started brawling with Kingston. While Christian was distracted with this, Orton snuck up behind him and hit the RKO to eliminate him. Kingston and Punk then put on a clinic as Orton watched from the outside. Kingston hit the SOS on Punk, but Punk kicked out. Kingston hit a variety of high-flying maneuvers, countered the Go To Sleep, and then had his Trouble in Paradise brilliantly dodged by CM Punk. Kingston went for the Boom Drop, but Randy Orton distracted him. Punk rolled Kingston up, but Kingston rolled through the roll-up and pinned Punk! Randy Orton then charged, but Kingston hit the Trouble in Paradise to make the surprising victory! Winners: Team Kingston. Match Rating: 4/5 Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match: The Undertaker (Champion) vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Big Show This match didn't meet my expectations, but it was still good. Undertaker was double-teamed in the early going by Jericho and Big Show, with Jericho hitting him in the head with a microphone on the outside. In the ring, Jericho and Show's domination continued, until Undertaker sent Show into the steel ring post. Undertaker was taken out by Jericho tried for the Lionsault, but Undertaker got his kneees up. Jericho landed on his feet to avoid the knees and applied the Walls of Jericho! Big Show came back into the ring and Chokeslammed Jericho and then tried for a Chokeslam on Undertaker. Undertaker grabbed Big Show's throat in response. Big Show managed to get Undertaker up for a Chokeslam attempt, but Undertaker countered it into a DDT. Jericho stirred to his feet and tried to cover either man, but they both kicked out. Jericho grabbed the World Heavyweight Championship and went to hit Undertaker with it, but Undertaker dodged and it nailed Big Show! Undertaker then went for the Last Ride on Jericho, but Jericho brought the title up with him and hit Undertaker in the head. This only earned a two count, and then Jericho's Tombstone Piledriver attempt was countered into a Tombstone Piledriver by Undertaker. Big Show recovered and hit Undertaker with the Knockout Punch. Jericho tried for a Codebreaker on Big Show, but Big Show held Jericho and threw him away. Show hit the Knockout Punch on Jericho and then attempted another Chokeslam on Undertaker. Undertaker countered into Hell's Gates and Big Show tapped out. Winner: The Undertaker. Match Rating: 4/5 10-Diva Elimination Tag Team Match: Team James (Eve, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Melina, and Mickie James) vs. Team McCool (Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Jillian, Layla, and Michelle McCool) Eh. Average. There was a lot of quick and weak eliminations. Kelly hit her weird finisher Fameasser thing on Layla to eliminate her right off the bat. Gail Kim put on a good effort with fast-paced actions and roll-ups on McCool, but Michelle McCool hit the Faithbreaker after countering a hurracanrana to eliminate Kim, making the teams even yet again. Eve and Jillian went at it next. This was quick and sloppy, with even eliminating Jillian after a botched sunset flip. Beth Phoenix then cleaned house and mercifully eliminated Eve with a Glam Slam. Poor Kelly Kelly suffered the Glam Slam next and that eliminated her as well. Mickie James took advantage of Phoenix and rolled her up for an annoying quick elimination. Phoenix attacked James before being forced to leave the ring by referees. This let Fox have the advantage of James for a while, but James hit a botched Lou Thesz Press off the top to eliminate Fox. McCool dominated James next, but James made the hot tag to Melina. Melina and McCool put on a pretty damn good match actually, and it ended when Melina countered a Razor's Edge-like maneuver from McCool into a modified Canadian Destroyer-like move to win the match for her team. Winners: Team James. Match Rating: 3/5 Triple Threat WWE Championship Match: John Cena (Champion) vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H AWESOME FREAKING MATCH! This was WWE's answer to Daniels/Joe/Styles I think. It started out crazy with Michaels taking out his partner Triple H with a Sweet Chin Music! The match then turned to Michaels/Cena, with them putting on an absolute clinic. The match spilled to the outside though and Michaels went crazy, setting the announce table up to use on Cena. Cena managed to counter a suplex attempt from Micahels into an Attitude Adjustment, but Triple H recovered and saved Michaels. Triple H then dumped Cena over the security barricade...and Spinebustered Shawn Michaels through the announce table! In the ring, Triple H went for the Pedigree, but Cena managed to power out and hit the Attitude Adjustment! Shawn Michaels saved the match at the very last second! Shawn hit Cena with a Sweet Chin Music that sent him to the outside! Triple H and Shawn then battled back and forth, but Shawn managed to gain the advantage and headed to the top! John Cena recovered and crotched Shawn on the top ropes. Cena went for his leg drop on Triple H, but Triple H rolled out of the way! Shawn then hit the Flying Elbow Drop on Cena, but Triple H threw Shawn out of the ring! Cena walked into a Spinebuster that nearly won the match for Triple H! Cena battled back and traded blows with Triple H, which ended with Cena hitting the Five-Knuckle Shuffle! Michaels saved Triple H from an Attitude Adjustment with a Sweet Chin Music on Cena, and then Michaels hit Triple H with a Sweet Chin Music but collapsed! Triple H landed ON TOP of Cena, and that nearly ended the match! Shawn was taken out with a Spinebuster by Triple H, but Cena attacked Triple H before he could hit the Pedigree on Michaels! Triple H and Cena put on a clinic, but Cena managed to lock in the STF! Triple H almost tapped, but Michaels grabbed Cena and applied the Crossface! Michaels and Cena crawled to Triple H and tried to pin him at the same time, but he kicked out! John Cena caught a Sweet Chin Music from Michaels and whirled him around into a Pedigree attempt by Triple H. Michaels countered and tried for a piledriver, but Triple H countered with a back body drop that Cena utilized to get Michaels into the Attitude Adjustment position! Michaels countered the move, but Cena dodged the Sweet Chin Music! Michaels then took out Triple H with the move and turned around and Cena got him up for the Attitude Adjustment! Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment to Michaels on top of Triple H and pinned Triple H to retain his title! Winner: John Cena. Match Rating: 5/5 OVERALL EVENT Phenomenal show. There were quite a bit of very awesome matches, with the women's match being average. A couple of the matches didn't deliver, but that's okay when you have backstage segments as hilarious as the interaction between Christian and his team backstage. CM Punk and Randy Orton have great chemistry as well, and this was another very memorable Survivor Series. Great show, and another great pay-per-view from WWE!

This Survivor Series was a solid PPV effort by WWE. None of the matches, not even the divas match, was horrible. However there was no memorable match on the card. I'm not going to go over the match in detail as previous reviewers have done but I will give an individual rating for each match. Matches are rated out of 5.0.
Team Miz vs. Team Morrison - A good opening match but nothing special. 2.5/5 Batista vs. Mysterio - In the end it was kind of disappointing. They could have left this for T.V. 2/5 Team Kofi vs. Team Orton - Very good Elimination match. 2nd best match overall of the night. 3.5/5 Triple Threat for World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho vs. Big Show - A little better than expected giving Taker and Show's limits in the ring. 3/5 Team Mickie vs. Team Michelle - Actually this match wasn't that bad. It was one of the better divas matches I've seen in a while. 2/5 Triple Threat for WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels - Best match of the night however it was a little below expectations. I was expecting a match of the year contender here. Still very good though. 4/5 Even though there was only one match that reached 4 all of the matches were solid. I figure the matches themselves add up to about 3 stars and then an extra star for the fact that there was no terrible match. I hope this helps.

Show opens up with Team Morrison featuring John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, and Finlay battling Team Miz featuring The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger. A very good match that saw Finaly and McIntyre battle to a double count out, Miz pin Benjamin via skull crusher, Miz pin Bourne after moving out of a way shooting star press and rolling him up, Morrison pinned Sheamus via starship pain, Hardy walked out of the match at 15:42 after not being tagged into the match. Morrison looked confused as Miz hit a skull crusher and won it for his team. Hardy then hit Morrison with a twist of fate.
Team Mickie featuring Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Melina, and Gail Kim VS Team Michelle featuring Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Beth Phoenix, Layla, and Alicia Fox: I went to the bathroom and missed most of the match. 7 bucks for a hot dog??? wtf! Jericho VS Show VS Undertaker: Show wins after Jeff Jarrett makes a surprise return and nailes 'Taker with a guitar! Fans looked confused as Jarrett and Show hug, as he holds up the world title After this match, Real American blasts through out the arena. The fans are shocked as he introduces Dixie Carter. She is wearing a skimpy black outfit and makes a speech saying we're taking over! Batista destorys Rey Mysterio and Mysterio is carried out on a stretcher. Batista is then choked out from behind by Samoa Joe. Team Kingston featuring Kofi Kingston, Montel Vontavious Porter, Mark Henry, R-Truth, and Christian VS Team Orton featuring Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, CM Punk, and William Regal: Kingston and Orton brawl out of the ring before the bell and then Daniels, Styles, Team 3-D, The Pope, Rhino, Suicide, Motor City Machine Guns battle with the WWE guys. Fans are shocked as Carter laughs from the entrance ramp. John Cena VS Shawn Michaels VS Triple H: Hornswoggle comes in and distracts Triple H. Michaels super kicks Triple H and then Samoa Joe comes in and chokes him out. Cena hasnt entered yet as Carter yanks his arm and slaps Cena! He looks enraged as Michaels is tapping rapidly. Vince yells call the bell as he celebrates with Joe and Carter but Real American hits. Carter is happy but Hogan wags his finger in her face and whips her to the rope. Big Boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leg drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vince covers her and Hogan counts as he spits on her. Piper then hits Hogan with a lead pipe, from Scott Steiner, and locks McMahon in the sleeper! Joe looks at McMahon go to sleep and then hits him with a muscle buster. Samoa Joe grabs the WWE title and runs off. What a show!!!!!! gREATest eva!!!!! must see |
