3.0 out of 5 stars Unforgiven 2003 is a good ppv, January 7, 2006
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-Poor
60-56%-awful

1. The dudley boyz vs. La resistance for the tag team titles in a tables match- This was a good way to kick things off. The first 6 minutes there was not alot of action witch was bad but after that the tables came into play. Nothing awsome but it got the crowd into it. Conway took a sick hit. Winners and new tag team champs the dudleys. Match Rating 7/10.

2. Test vs Scott stiner- This was just another average match. I think i liked it a little more because i have liked stiner for a long time. Nothing horriable but still not great. Winner test. Match Rating 6/10.

3. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michales- I thought this was a great place to put this match. I really enjoyed this match. It was a good 19 minute match. There werent to many slow spots and some good action. I liked the way they set up the ending so that michales and orton could both have the win. Also so michales did not lose face and orton cheated to kill another legened. Good match. Match Rating 9/10.

4. Gal kim and molly holly vs. lita and trish- This was just your average womans match. To cool the crowd off after a good match. Good to see lita back in the ring and teaming with trish. Average match. Winners lita and trish. Match Rating 4/10.

5. Kane vs. Shane McMahon in a last man standing match- This was an awsome match. Non stop action through the whole match. Kane dosent even finish his entrence before shane came down with a chair and hit him like 8 times with it. We saw shane do a vantermantor nailing the steel steps in kanes face. The best part was when he was like 30 feet in the air jumped off and crashed through the stage. Awsome match. Match of the night. Winner Kane. Match Rating 10/10.

6. Y2J vs. Christian vs. Rob Van Dam for the ITC title- This was another good match. About 18 minutes of good soild action. The thing that really bothered me about this match was the booking. The crowd was not into this at all because of the shane and kane match. I thought that would have helped if they were into the match. Besides that an awsome match. The ending surprised me. Winner and still ITC champ christian. Match Rating 9/10.

7. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawer vs. the coach and al snow- I expected this match to be awful and it was. First problem was that there was no commantary. Second was it was basically a one on one match and the ending was horriable when jerico interferred and nailed a drop kick for the win. Awful match. Winners coach and al snow. Match Rating 3/10.

8. HHH vs. Goldberg for the WHT- this was an okay match. I liked the idea and the hype behind the match but it only lasted 15 minutes. There was nothing really great except alot of people wanted to see HHH lose the title so i guess that was a good thing. Winner and new WHC Goldberg. Match Rating 7/10.

Well that raps up another one of my reviews. The rating that unforgiven got was 55/80 that = an 68% which means that the ppv was good. Nothing really great and nothing really bad except the divas match and the tag team match with the coach. The ones that i would recomend to watch are the kane match the triple threat match and randy ortons match. I would appericate it if you would tell me if you thought my review was good or not. I am under smallfry jeff if you want to check out my other ppv which are summerslam 2003, royal rumble 2005, vengence 2005, unforgiven 2005, taboo tuesday 2005, wrestlemania XX, and Judgement day 2005. Thank you for your time.

3 ON 2 HANDICAPPED TABLES MATCH
FOR WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
LA RESISTANCE & ROB CONWAY VS BUBBA RAY & D-VON DUDLEY 7/10- Spike was suppose to be in this one but was injured by the frenchmen. Austin made this for the tag titles. not the best tables match but still pretty good.

TEST VS SCOTT STEINER(IF STEINER WINS, GETS STACY KEIBLER BACK. IF TEST WINS, GETS STACY & STEINER'S SERVICES) 6/10- not their best match. this feud has been going on since judgment day in may. time to end it,please! ending is what helps this match.

MOLLY HOLLY & GAIL KIM VS TRISH STRATUS & LITA 8/10- best women's match in a long time. mainly because of the return of lita. lita shows no ring rust after being out for 1 1/2 yrs.

RANDY ORTON VS SHAWN MICHAELS 8/10- a good match between these 2. orton as the legend killer is a good gimmick. evolution is a 2nd rate imitation of the 4 horsemen. ric flair's involvement hurts this match.

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
KANE VS SHANE MCMAHON 9/10- an awesome hardcore match. back & forth action helps it. kane is just brutal in his treatment of shane. this helps his monster gimmick get over even more. ending is worth the price of this dvd.

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
CHRISTIAN VS ROB VAN DAM VS CHRIS JERICHO 8/10- match started out as a bore. action picked up after awhile to make this a good match. several awesome moves in this one. if not for slow start, would have been a 10.

JONATHAN COACHMAN & AL SNOW VS JIM ROSS & JERRY LAWLER(WINNERS BROADCAST RAW) 7.5/10- no broadcasters for this one. reminded me of going to a house show. lawler & snow carried this one. thank goodness! j.r. & coach can't wrestle. good entertainment.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
TRIPLE HHH VS GOLDBERG 8.5/10- a very good match between these 2. crowd was really into it. triple hhh's title reign has been way too long. reminds me of ric flair's days of cheating except flair could actually wrestle. goldberg has lost a step over the years but is still a good performer. ending is awesomwe.

overall, was a good ppv. no horrible matches. raw is improving. still no special features. why is wwe cheating the fans?

5.0 out of 5 stars Goldberg is champ... finally, November 27, 2003

Tony Shanks (Paso Robles, Ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
WWE Unforgiven was easily the best "brand-only" ppv this year.

1. Dudley's v. La Resistance (handicap table match for tag titles)***
Very entertaning match. The "french" tag team beat the Dudley's way too many times and were the worst tag team champs EVER!
Winner: New Champs Dudley's

2.Scott Steiner v. Test**
Someone kill this storyline please! Match was only saved by the chairshot by Stacy to Steiner.
Winner: Test

3. HBK v. Randy Orton***1/2
Awesome wrestling match. Sadly, the match was hurt by Flair's constant interference. Winner: orton

4.Lita-Trish v. Molly-Gail Kim***
Great tag match. Molly, Trish, and Lita did well, while Gail Kim should learn to wrestle or leave. Winner: Lita-Trish

5. Shane v. Kane (Last Man Standing)*****
One of the two BEST matches of the ppv. Very dramatic and brutal
match with a real "holy-s***" ending. Winner: Kane

6. Y2J v. RVD. Christian (IC title)****
Awesome triple-treat match. Watck for a spot involving all three wrestlers. Winner: IC Champ Christian

7. J.R . and King v. Coach-Al Snow(BORING)
Worst match of the year.

8. Goldberg v. Triple H (World Title)*****
If Goldberg loses, he must retire from wrestling.
The best Raw main event of the year. Crowd was behind Goldberg from the getgo. Goldberg pinnd HHH. to FINALLY end "The Game"
Winner: New World Champ Goldberg.

4.0 out of 5 stars Triple H falls, but Goldberg rises, November 16, 2003
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
Where do I start with this event?

First match, according to some mark-ridden reviews beneath me was "Vewy good, Dudleyz deftee Las Risdftr, LOL LOL, FIVE-STAR MATCH" or something a little more...less sensical.

It was a good match, but I'd say a three-star ordeal because of the poor wrestling style of La Resistance.

Second match was the only good match between Test and Scott Stiener, their Bad Blood bout by the way was ABYSMAL and only a mark would find it in any way amusing, the finish was pretty decent and the effort form both wrestlers at least made it passable (***)

Shawn Michales vs Randy Orton was match of the night, Orton is a god and you WILL bow before his power, the finish was cheap, but very "Four Horsemen" if you used to watch NWA before it became TNA, you'll get what I'm refering to. (****)

Kane vs Shane Mcmahon, someone kill Shane Mcmahon please, he nearly made Kane look like a pansy in this match, and for those whose reviews are saying "Kane ruled", HE MOVED ASIDE TO WIN THE MATCH, MOVED ASIDE, he did'nt do ANYTHING to Shane except DUCK (***)

Chirstian vs Chris Jericho vs Rob Van Dam (***)

A Pointless, yet exciting triple threat match, look for Rob Van Dam's frog splash on Jericho and Chistian and the incredible effort from Chirstian when holding up BOTH RVD and Jericho

Al Snow and Johnathan Coachman vs J.R Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. (DUD)

Press Fast Forward, this is'nt a Wrestling match, it's a waste of god damn time.

World Title vs Career Match: Triple H vs Goldberg

COuld have been better, Triple H's groin injury prevented al ot of good gorund-based wrestling, plus the fact Goldnerg is an overated pile of crap did'nt help either, the proper finish came with Triple H SELLING the Jackhammer and giving Goldberg a run with the belt, even if he does'nt deserve it.

An improved card than Bad Blood, buy it

4.0 out of 5 stars WWE UNFORGIVEN DOESN'T DISSAPOINT, October 19, 2003
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
I was at the show in Hershey and still won't be biased and say five stars just because I was there. The truth is it was great, with a couple of downfalls:

Dudley Boyz/La Resistance: Very entertaining and fast paced tables match. Nice to have the energy level kick high in the first match.

Steiner/Test-for Stacy and Steiner's services: Okay match all things considered. But in MY Opinion it is getting old and time for the rivalry to shift in another direction somehow. I mean it feels like we have seen them every week at odds since Judgement Day back in MAY!

HBK/Orton: Slow in the early going and just builds excitement as it goes on as do most HBK matches. Had the potential to be great all around but again, the ending is all too familiar with how Evolution can't seem to get a win without interference from one another.

DIVA's tag team match: Not bad. Exciting to see Lita back in action and despite a bloody mouth from the start for Lita; she did a great job trying to follow her gameplan and execute a fairly entertaining match.

Last mand standing: Kane/Shan-o-Mac: Best match of the night, I thought! For the record the top of the titantron which Shane jumped from was right in front of me and only about 20 feet (I asked the wwe rigger on site) above the announce platform Shane landed on. So what, 20 feet or 50 feet, I would never have the guts to do that!! Lots of sickening chair shots, and creative moves by Shane to make this an edge of your seat match! Excellent

Announcers match: Just awful! Sorry.
Tag Team match: RVD/Jericho/Christian: Not bad at all, but expected more from these three great athletes.

Main event: Triple H/Goldberg: Excellent and appropriate way to end the night. I mean what can be said with what was at stake. You knew this one would leave people breathless with the result being either Triple H finally loses the belt or Goldberg leaves wrestling.

Very entertaining night and very good variety in match types and styles make this a DVD to own for sure. Even the announcer's match was entertaining for a change of pace, despite the wrestling quality being two thumbs down. Buy this for sure. Thanks, Frank.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good event from the Raw brand, September 22, 2003
By
Assclown (Somerset, Ma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
1. Handicap Table Match for the World Tag Team Championships
Dudley Boyz defeated La Resistance and Rob Conway to win the titles - plain match to start the show; Dudleys win number 17

2. Both Stacy Kiebler's and Scott Steiner's Services on the line
Test pinned Scott Steiner - not bad considering that Steiner is absolutley awful. This storyline has gone on too long and still has no end in sight though.

3. Legend vs. Legend Killer
Randy Orton pinned Shawn Michaels - great match; first real showing from Orton; Orton nails Michaels in the head with brass knuckles like 5 times to score the fall

4. Lita and Trish Stratus defeated Gail Kim and Molly Holly - the in ring return of Lita; a pretty good for a diva's match; looks like Lita's in the hunt for the Women's title

5. Last Man Standing Match
Kane defeated Shane McMahon - sweet match with Shane O'Mac taking a huge bump off the titan tron through a platform; good for Kane's monster push

6. Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship Match
Christian defeated Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho to retain thet title - really good match that saw Jericho and Christian team up on RVD for most of the match; Christian retains the title after pinning Van Dam

7. Raw Announcing Job on the Line
Al Snow and Coach defeated JR and The King - this sucks that Coach and Al Snow will be the announcers for Raw, but I am sure it will only be for a while; Chris Jericho screws JR and King in an effort to crack Steve Austin; boring match with no commentary

8. World Heavyweight Championship Match
If Goldberg loses, he must retire from wrestling
Triple H can lose the title by dq or countout
Goldberg pinned Triple H to win the title - I felt like crying after this match; I can't believe that this loser Goldberg gets to hold the World Title; I was praying that Triple H would win this match and send Goldberg home for good; pretty short match but not that bad besides Goldberg no selling a sledgehammer shot.

Overall, a very entertaining ppv from Raw with some really great matches. Definitely worth the money if you haven't seen it in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shane falls 35 Feet!, August 27, 2008
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
I have been a wrestling fan since 1996 and have watched all kinds of wrestling. I have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection spanning over 50 all together. This is the most complete and accurate review of this DVD you will find. I hope you find this review helpful; remember to vote helpful or not helpful. (Note-Each DVD I review has a "Match of the DVD" award somewhere in it.)

WWE Unforgiven 2003
After watching Unforgiven, I have mixed emotions about this edition. Some of the matches are top notch; others are horrendous. I love the theme song, which is Enemy by Sevendust. The DVD had no extras to talk of. The event itself probably is not worth buying, but you might want to check it out for a few select matches.

Handicap Table Match
World Tag Team Championships
Dudley Boyz VS La Resistance(c) & Rob Conway
The set-up to this match was that all members of the team had to be put through a table before a winner could be declared. Members could stay in the match until it was over though. The match itself was average, but the table spots are nice. Conway takes a brutal spot, being thrown over the ropes through a table.
RATING- 6.5/10

Winner Gets Stacy Keibler's Services
Test VS Scott Steiner
I actually enjoyed the story moving into this match. The highlight video before the match really got me into the match. The match itself is not much though. Stacy want Steiner to win, and eventually interferes in the match. You probably will not watch this more than once.
RATING- 6/10

Randy Orton VS Shawn Michaels
We have just reached the first awesome match of the evening. This is one of Orton's first Legend VS Legend Killer matches. There is a lot of good wrestling, and HBK hits a huge cross body splash to the outside. The ending is weird and I feel it hurt the match a lot.
RATING- 8.5/10

Gal Kim & Molly Holly VS Lita & Trish
This is Gail Kim's first PPV match. This is also Lita's first PPV match back after spinal surgery. This was a solid encounter, but the crowd does not seem that into it. Lita puts on a good performance.
RATING- 5/10

Last Man Standing Match (Match of the DVD)
Kane VS Shane McMahon
Insane. That is the only word that can describe this match. Actually, I lied. Let me give you a few more words. The match has a very slow pace to it, and at the beginning does not seem that great. The match picks up over time and becomes a match full of sick spots. Shane hits a glorious Coast to Coast into steel steps. The ending features Shane falling thirty-five feet.
RATING- 9/10

Intercontinental Championship
Y2J VS Christian(c) VS Rob Van Dam
I thought that this was another well-put together match. The problem was that the crowd did not care much after the previous match. There is a ton of highflying maneuvers, and some solid wrestling. Most of the match is fought between two men, instead of three. There is a huge Tower of Doom spot.
RATING- 7/10

Winners Commentates Raw
Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler VS Coach & Al Snow
There is no commentary for this match, and the crowd is dead again. You can hear echoes every now and then. The match is primarily fought between Lawler and Snow, but Coach gets a good amount of ring time. Jim Ross only gets in the ring at the end. It brought a smile to my face to see that he was enjoying himself. Jericho makes an appearance toward the end.
RATING- 3/10

World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H(c) VS Goldberg
As far as Main Event matches go, this sucked. It was fun to see Triple H finally dethroned, but it was the wrong man to do it. Triple H works on the legs of Goldberg, because Goldberg is lethal when he is standing. The match is short as well.
RATING- 6/10

THE DUDLEY BOYZ defeated LA RESISTANCE & ROB CONWAY in a Tables Match to Win the World Tag-Team Titles: The Dudleyz are quickly becoming the warm-up act for the crowd, with the amount of pay-per-views they open. It makes sense I suppose. If this wasn't a tables match, it wouldn't have had many redeeming features & would have been pure monotony that we've seen many times before. With the stipulation, it was at least watchable. Conway took one hell of a bump through a table!!! The Dudleyz regain after 10 minutes. Match Rating...5

TEST defeated SCOTT STEINER to Win the services of Steiner & Stacy Keibler: In yet another monotonous feud that has seemed like it has lasted forever, these 3 (Stacy's contribution to this match shouldn't be under-estimated) put on an ok 7 minute bout. Steiner only botched one move (a powerbomb) that I could see, while Test is finally improving in the ring. It's a shame it has been so gradual & he struggles to add to his repertoire though. Good finish & I pray this feud is over, but I don't think it is. Match Rating...6

RANDY ORTON defeated SHAWN MICHAELS: It was very hard to pick a 'Match of the Night' at Unforgiven, and this bout could definitely stake a claim. It wasn't far off being very good, put it that way. It just lacked a little in pacing & had too few spots for a 19 minute match. HBK is still putting on great matches against practically any opponent, while Orton is another who is gradually improving. I didn't mind the finish with Flair's shenanigans causing a restart to the bout. Match Rating...7

TRISH STRATUS & LITA defeated MOLLY HOLLY & GAIL KIM: Disappointing. For the amount of apparent hate that the heels had here, there was not enough intensity. For Lita's big return to wrestling, there was not enough excitement. The rematch the next night was a lot better. At least this was kept relatively short at 7 minutes. Man, compare Lita's moonsault to Kurt Angle's & you would think they were 2 completely different moves. Match Rating...5

KANE defeated SHANE McMAHON in a Last Man Standing Match: Some will call this the match of the night, even though I don't recall seeing too many wrestling holds being applied. Obviously very spotty, this bout was fairly well choreographed & decently performed. The booking which saw Shane control most of the match was puzzling though. As I predicted last week, McMahon climbed the entrance-way & threw himself off of it. Unfortunately for him, Kane rolled out the way to become the last man standing at the 20 minute mark. Match Rating...7

CHRISTIAN defeated ROB VAN DAM & CHRIS JERICHO to Retain the InterContinetal Title: If I had to choose one bout, I'd probably choose this as the match of the night. That is despite it not really flowing well for almost half of it's length. The first 10 minutes saw Jericho & Christian's allegiance last way too long, and I was starting to think that the WWE made a huge mistake in not having a singles match here. But the following 9 minutes was well put together, fairly unpredictable & had something for everyone. Christian pins RVD to retain the title & hopefully we will get to see a decent feud between these two. Match Rating...7

AL SNOW & JONATHAN COACHMAN defeated JERRY LAWLER & JIM ROSS to become the Raw Commentators: You know you're in trouble when the first move of the match is practically botched!!! The WWE foolishly chose to have no commentators during this bout, and that unfortunately just made this 8 minute match drag out even more. I'm a fan of Al Snow, but it's been a while since he even wrestled on ppv. The only positive that existed for mine is that it could have been worse!!! The heels win following interference from Jericho. Match Rating...3

BILL GOLDBERG defeated TRIPLE H to Win the World HeavyWeight Title: Satisfactory main event that was pretty much 'by the numbers'. At 15 minutes, the length of the match was about right. The intensity of the 2 combatants was sufficient, and while nothing really memorable happened, nothing disastrous occurred either. I would have preferred for the ending to be a little less abrupt, as it didn't really give a chance for the crowd to go nuts for a title change. It wasn't inspiring, but at least Raw finally crowned a new champ. Match Rating...6

PPV RATING (46/80) = 58

Looking at the key, I have given Unforgiven a 'C' grade & have said that it was 'Average'. Right on, if I do say so myself. It only got one extra rating point over the previous Raw pay-per-view, Bad Blood, and that my friends is not a good thing. Apart from the commentators match, there wasn't anything too disastrous or embarrassing about this event, but when you have to toss up between 3 ok matches as your match of the night, you know you're in trouble. Nothing stood out whatsoever!!! This is pay-per-view for goodness sake; Reward the purchaser. Oh well, there's always a SmackDown pay-per-view just around the corner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid First PPV for RAW, August 1, 2004
By
C. Golden (Springfield MA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: WWE Unforgiven 2003 (DVD)
Unforgiven 2003 was a pretty damn solid PPV for Raw... they had a lot to live up to after smackdown! put on a hell of a Vengeance show in July and a dissapointing showing for raw at Summerslam... here's my review...

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Triple H v. Goldberg 7/10
Not a bad match, but not really all that outstanding either.. Good to see Triple H FINALLY drop the title, but overall, I thought the match was REALLY slow.

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Christian (c) v. Chris Jericho v. Rob Van Dam 7/10
Good three way match, but again, nothing will knock your socks off here. Solid match though.

Shawn Michaels v. Randy Orton 9/10
This match is excellent. The psychology between the two is great.

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
Kane v. Shane McMahon 8/10
Solid match, and very brutal. Shane takes another MASSIVE bump at the end. Solid outing by both.

Scott Steiner v. Test 5/10
Nothing good. Nothing Great. Very eh... Finally ended the feud though...

JR and King v. Al Snow and the Coach 2/10
Awful.

Lita and Trish Stratus v. Molly Holly and Gail Kim 5/10
Pretty decent for a women's match. Fast paced action.

THe Dudley's v. La Resistance and Rob Conway 5.5/10
Solid Opener. Some funny spots..

Overall the show was solid. the HBK/ Orton match was by far, the best of the night. Nothing will knock your doors off, save for Shane's bump, but this show WILL NOT dissapoint you either. A very decent buy.
