3.0 out of 5 stars The First Half is All Worth Seeing Here., May 22, 2008
Before I begin with my review, the reason I am writing this one is because a few days ago a friend of mine and myself were discussing about the previous WrestleManias after viewing WrestleMania 24. WrestleMania VIII came up and we agreed that the event was uneven. This is why...

Shawn Michaels vs Tito Santana. This was during the end of Santana's career as he gave the young Shawn Michaels a quality match to put over his new character "The Heartbreak Kid". The ending was a little wierd that to this day, I do not understand what happened but the match is good.

The Undertaker vs Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Taker was starting to become over with the crowd considering that he got a good reception from the crowd. The psychology of the match was well done as Roberts did his job to put over Taker as the dominate force in the WWF and the match was not bad either.

Intercontinental Champion Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart. First of all, the pre-match interview was one of my favorite build-ups for a match ever as it was funny, entertaining and well done. Anyways about the match, this is a lost classic. Both men not only deliver a great wrestling match but also deliver great storytelling especially both men teasing a surprise heel turn even though neither are heels. Great performance here and one of the better matches that Hart & Piper had in their careers.

Virgil, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Big Bossman & Sgt. Slaughter vs The Nasty Boyz, Repo Man & The Mountie. The true highlight of this match was the late Ray Combs insulting the heels before the match. After that, nothing special happens here as this was just a short filler.

WWF Champion Ric Flair vs Macho Man Randy Savage. First and foremost, this is the REAL main event of WrestleMania VIII and should have been the last match on the card. Flair & Savage deliver an intense contest with twists and turns that would have you guessing on who is going to win this match. In fact, this is my favorite encounter that these two had. Tremendous effort and truly the best match of this event.

Tatanka vs Rick Martel. After the awesome Flair/Savage encounter, this match is decent but should have been shown before the WWF Title match.

Tag Team Champions Money INC vs The Natural Disasters. Here is where WrestleMania VIII loses its luster. This match is horrible with very little action and the cheap countout did not help the match either. Its a shame considering how good Ted Dibiase & IRS were at the time.

Owen Hart vs Skinner. This match lasts eight seconds and nothing else can be said about that.

Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice. I don't care who says it but to me, other than WrestleMania IX, this is the worst main event in the history of WrestleMania. For all the build-up surrounding this match, nothing happens at all in this contest. Hogan & Sid put me to sleep with the restholds that I only paid attention to the ending, which was a failure in itself. The Ultimate Warrior returns in the end but who cares if the match sucked.

Overall, if you want to watch this event, watch it for the great first half. The first half has two classic title matches, HBK's first singles match at WrestleMania and Undertaker starting his streak. The second half is just crap and brings the show to hell with no return.

WWF WrestleMania 8
4/5/92
Hooiser Dome Indianapolis,Indiana

Shawn Michaels defeated El Matador/Tito Santana.

The Undertaker defeated Jake "The Snake" Roberts(The Undertaker tombstones Roberts on the arena floor.Then gets him in the ring and covers him for the pin.Roberts wouldnt return to the WWF until 1996).

Intercontinental Championship Match;
Bret Hart defeated "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to win the Intercontinental Championship.(***** match,one of the best matches in Brets career).

Virgil,The Big Bosman,Jim Duggan and Sgt Slaughter defeated The Repo Man,The Mountie and The Nasty Boys.

WWF Championship Match;
"Macho Man" Randy Savage defeated Ric Flair to become the new WWF Champion after an rollup.

Tatanka defeated Rick "The Model" Martel(They would end up having another match at the 1992 Survivor Series).

WWF Tag Team Championship Match;
The Natural Disasters defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Money Inc by countout however the Natural Disasters do not win the tag team titles.

"The Rocket" Owen Hart defeated Skinner

Overall an good Wrestlemania.The best matches were Shawn Michaels vs Tito Santana,The Undertaker vs Jake the "Snake" Roberts,Bret Hart vs "Rowdy" Roddy Piper for the Intercontinental Title in an rare "face vs face" match,"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs Ric Flair for the WWF Championship,and Hulk Hogan vs Sid Vicious.

1992 also signified an change in the WWF.Hogan would soon leave the WWF not returning to Janury of 1993 and then leaving by June of 1993, The Ultimate Warrior would leave the WWF and week before the 1992 Survivor Series not returning until 1996 before getting yes fired again, and Ric Flair would leave the WWF in early 1993 not returning until nearly 9 years later but back to 1992,stars like Hulk Hogan,The Ultimate Warrior,and Ric Flair were aging and Vince decided that newer stars like Bret Hart,The Undertaker,and Shawn Michaels could take the WWF to superstardom.By October of 1992 Bret Hart was WWF Champion and Shawn Michaels was Intercontinental Champion and they had an match at the 1992 Survivor Series for Harts WWF belt(which Hart won)but which proved that size doesnt matter and that Bret could single handidly carry the WWF in the post Hulk A Mania Era.Nough said.
