Wrestlemania 19....a classic,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: WWE Wrestlemania XIX (DVD)
1. Cruiserweight Title: Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy: A good match with some nice high-flying moves. The only problem was that it was too short and the match finished with Matt using the ropes on a roll-up. Rey should've won considering it was wrestlemania. 8/10
2. Undertaker vs. Big Show & A-Train: A good batlle of big men Undertaker should've been in a bigger match but it was still good. Taker was still dominant even though he was facing two bigger men. Limp Bizkit sings Taker out to the ring with "Rollin". 8.5/10 3. Womens Title Triple Threat: Trish vs. Lita vs. Jazz: One of very few womens matches I actually take intrest in. If WWE was all women, this would be a classic match. In actuall rating, its about as good as the opener. Trish wins via chick kick. 7/10 4. WWE Tag Team Title: Team Angle vs. Los Gurreros vs. Rhyno & Benoit: A good tag match with some great talent in it. I think it could've been better but it was still good. The ending was great, with several finishers. 8.5/10 5. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho: Match of The Night!!!!! A classic match with amazing athletisism. Michaels and Jericho have great chemistry. Awe-Inspiring. Tons of near falls and finishers. If you buy this DVD, then this match will be a great gain. 10/10 6. World Title: Triple H vs. Booker T: A good match to say the least. Some really cool moves. When Booker is in control, the match is more entetaining. Except for the part when HHH does the indian death lock which is suprising. 9/10 7. Street Fight: Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon: A shockingly bloody match in which if Hulkster loses, he leaves wwe. The two beat each other with chairs until they are both bleeding. Then, Vince does a huge leg drop off a ladder through the announce table on hogan. Hogan has the match won but Piper makes a surprise appearance and hits Hogan with a led pipe. Hogan still wins though. Bloody match. 10/10 8. The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin: Not as good as their Wrestlemania 17 match but better than their Wrestlemania 15 match. Austin's last match. A great match to say the least i guess. Lots of finishers and several near falls. 9/10 9. WWE title: Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle: Great match. Main event worthy. The two greatest athletes in wwe beat the hell out of each other. Both of them get injuries. Brock almost kills himself because he tries a Shooting Star Press and lands on his head! Great match. Brock wins. 9.5/10 Extras include the entire Wrestlemania 3rd degree program, the press conference in New York and the one in Seattle, th world tag team title match Kane & Rvd vs. Cheif Morley & Lance Storm from HEAT, Post Match Interviews, 10 Wrestlemania Retros where superstars talk about their favorote moments, Wrestlemaina Features, Comments on Hogan vs. McMahon, two commercials one titled "Image Spot" and the other "4 Main Events"!, the three catfight girl commercials, the mcmahon training promos, and the entire segment where goldberg made his debut the following night!

WrestleMania XIX,
By Jason Bingum (Cali) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE Wrestlemania XIX (DVD)
This was one of the best WrestleManias i've ever viewed. Most of the card was solid and the DVD itself is packed with some great extras.SUNDAY NIGHT HEAT Extra Should have replaced "Millerlite Catfight" segment during the actually show. Great match. Very intense action. Dudley Boyz even get involved and are a huge factor in the outcome. * Matt Hardy v. Rey Mysterio - Cruiserweight Title This was a very good opener. The only letdown was the crowd reactions and the finish. * Undertaker & Nathan Jones v. Big Show & A-Train Limp Bizkit plays The Undertaker to the ring. Events during Sunday Night Heat turn this into a handicap match. The Undertaker "is" this match. The Big Show and A-Train ride on his back the entire contest. Nonetheless, a surprisingly entertaining match with Nathan Jones saving the day in the end. * Victoria v. Trish Stratus v. Jazz - Women's Title This is by-far the greatest women's match ever, whether at a WrestleMania or any other show. All three women give their all and put on a damn good show with, sadly, a lackluster crowd reaction, which is what kills this match. Steven Richards' comedic antics spice this one up as well. * Team Angle v. Los Guerreros v. Chris Benoit & Rhyno - Tag Titles The best three-way tag match to ever take place so far. Great performances by Chavo and Eddie Guerrero, who gave the greatest show of athletisism in the bout. Nice chaotic climax to end this one. * Shawn Michaels v. Chris Jericho Excellent contest. Shawn Michaels had an unbelievable entrance. Michaels not only pulled out some old tricks, but revealed some new ones. Chris Jericho also stole the show. Couldn't have asked for more from these two atheletes, with a post-match encounter that will leave any HBK fan with a sour taste in their mouth (shame on you Jericho). *WrestleMania Catfight Horrible gimmick match. Yes, the clevage (or what little bit there is..) is there. But..not only is it pointless. But we end up seeing Jonathan Coachman in his underwear and nothing close to the billing. oh well. Only bad spot of the night. * Triple H v. Booker T - World Title Great match. Triple H pulled out all the stops. Booker T showed why he deserved to be in a WrestleMania title match. Overall, Booker T stole the show with a throwback to his old Harlem Heat days (you'll just have to watch to find out). Would have been a perfect match had we seen Triple H pull out the 'ol sledge hammer and even more so, had we seen the man who really deserved to win walk out with the gold. * Hulk Hogan v. Vince McMahon - Street Fight Awesome match-up. This is where the crowd was the loudest the whole night. Just how any street fight should be. Bloody and violent. A shocking return by one of Hogan and Vince's old nemesis'. Unbelievable ending. One of the best match-ups of the night. The crowd is really into this one as well. Lots of nearfalls. This one will keep you on your toes until the very end...and what an end it was to an excellent feud. Nothing as shocking as X-7, where Austin turned heel, though. But still incredible. * Kurt Angle v. Brock Lesnar - Championship Title Best match on the card. When watching this, just keep in mind that Kurt Angle is wrestling with a broken neck and you'll realize why. Brock Lesnar proves that he's more than just a "power-based" wrestler. There is no point in this match where you will want to stop and grab a snack or fast foward. The entire match is solid. Great performance by both men. All in all a top notch show. Great DVD. This WrestleMania alone could very well convert a non-fan into a hardcore fan. Not the best. Maybe not even in the top five. But definetely one of the best Mania's of all-time. Limp Bizkit's performance is amazing even if you're not a fan of their music. Ashanti's rendition of America the Beautiful at the beginning of the show is missing from the DVD (what's up with that?). The DVD extras are great, but it would have been nice if they would have included an extra historical match or two from prior Mania's. For example, the first two Austin/Rock encounters. Otherwise, an excellent DVD.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio Great to see this title at the biggest show. What a great match! Perfect opener. Don't blink. Undertaker vs. Big Show & A-Train Not bad. A little slow but Taker actually carries both men. Made exciting by Taker's streak. Triple Threat Match for the Women's Championship Victoria vs. Jazz vs. Trish Stratus This has to be the best women's match of all time. A surprisingly fluent match with great moves and genuine excitement. WWE Tag Team Championship Team Angle vs. Los Guerreros vs. Chris Benoit & Rhyno Another great match! 5 of the 6 competitors in this match are world class pro wrestlers and they prove it in this one. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho A dream match! An absolute classic and a fitting return to WM for HBK. One of the best matches of all time. World Heavyweight Championship Triple H vs. Booker T Finally the Bookerman gets his due. A very good match that saw both men break out some moves that had been stowed away for a long time. Street Fight 20 Years in the Making Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon You have to give it up to both men. Their age & real life feud could've made this terrible but no way. Superlative effort from both men. The video package before this is one of the best ever. Some very unexpected surprises in this too. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock A fitting end to a great wrestling rivalry. This would be Austin's last match and really it is for The Rock too. A lot of real emotion in this match and you could see it on their faces. A classic. WWE Championship Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar Predictable but wow! A top 5 WM main event. Lots of great wrestling and a great finish and of course Brock's now infamous near death experience. Angle was also very close to serious injury which just adds to the drama.

Wrestlemania XIX was an improvement on Wrestlemania X8 from 2002, not that X8 was bad. Below I have reviewed the whole event:INTRO: WWE Superstars reflecting on Wrestlemania, and what it means to them, blah blah blah > "Wrestlemania is the chance to live forever" echoes us into the opening video package, leading to.... #1: Cruiserweight Championship: Matt Hardy (champ) vs. Rey Mysterio: After a pointless Miller LIght Catfight Girls segment, Limp Bizkit plays "ROllin" to an indifferent crowd live at Safeco Field and an indifferent crowd watching at home.... #2: Undertaker vs. Big ShowA-train After another pointless Catfight Girls segment... Coach interviews the Rock. #5: Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho Limp Bizkit performs the official theme of Wrestlemania XIX, "Crack Addict" in case anyone cares. THe crowd certainly doesn't, and with good reason, considering Fred Durst sounds like crap. #6: World Heavyweight Championship: Triple H (champ) vs. Booker T: #7: Streetfight 20 Years in The Making: Vince McMahon VS. Hulk Hogan. Great nostalgic match, almost takes you back to the days of kayfabe. Special surprise appearance a rowdy old guy in a skirt..... ***** #8: Stone COld Steve Austin VS. The Rock #9: WWE CHampionship: Kurt Angle (champ) vs. Brock Lesnar: Ends with a video recap set to the official WMXIX theme "Crack Addict" by Limp Bizkit. EXTRAS: THere's a lot. WOrld Tag Team CHampionship from Sunday Night Heat, Nathan Jones attacked, mini documentaries on celebrities at WM, the first WM, the undertaker and Hulk Hogan at wrestlemania. Bobby Heenan and Gene Okerlund giving their thoughts on Hogan vs. McMahon, McMahon training vignettes, Edge's WM media tour, and commercials for WM XIX.

Best womens match I have ever seen 8/10 WWE tag team championship triple threat. Team angle vs. Los Guerreros vs. Chris Benoit and Rhyno I was looking forward to this match it didn't dissapoint but it was short but good. 9/10 Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho World Heavyweight championship Triple H vs. Booker T I liked this match the reason why I am ranking it down is because Booker T lost but it was good. 8/10 20 years in the making street fight. Pretty good, but not the best...,
By Brandonr4 (Ellisville, MS United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWE Wrestlemania XIX (DVD)
A few people below me are way too hyper about this DVD. WMXIX was way better than WMX8, but not even close to being better than WM17. Here are the matches:WWE Cruiserweight Title: Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio. Way too short. The match was only 5 minutes long. Their match on Smackdown! where Rey won the title was much better. ** Undertaker vs. Big SHow and A-Train. Pretty slow, but still ok. Nathan was attacked before so it became a handicap match, but later Nathan helps Taker out to make his streak at WM 11-0. **1/2 Women's Title: Victoria vs. Trish vs. Jazz. Honestly probably the best women's title match I've seen, and I don't care about those matches much. Trish wins, how shocking is that, pff. *** WWE SD tag Titles: Los Guerreros vs. Team Angle vs. Benoit and Rhyno. This could of been a match to steal the show, if given about 40 minutes, but this match only lasted 10, and was completely boring because of such a short amount of time. ** HBK vs. Jericho. Now we're talking. Their fued had lasted about 4 months, and finally it was to end at WMXIX, and what a match these two put on. This match was the one that stole the show(either it or Hogan vs. McMahon). These two stole each others' moves and finishers, and in the end, HBK won with a roll-up. ***** World Title: Triple H vs. Booker T. This match could of been much better, but it was ok. I should of known Triple H would win since he always wins when it comes to the title basically. Triple H beat Booker T fair i believe...scary. *** Street Fight: Hogan vs. McMahon. I thought this match would be a total disaster, and it really bugged me that this was the most talked about match before WMXIX happened, but this match was great. It was bloody, plenty of punishment, and McMahon even did a leg drop off the ladder onto Hogan thru the announce table. Rowdy Roddy Piper even made a shocking appearance. But a great match, and a bloody hogan won. ***** Stone Cold vs. Rock. IMO, better than their WM15 match, but not better than their match at WM17. Their fued from WM17 was always intense, but theirs for WMXIX was more about mindgames from Rock and Austin. Still a great match tho, and Rock wins. ***1/2 WWE Title: Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesner. I didn't really think this match would be too good, especially with Kurt having neck problems, but it was great. It definately deserved to be the main event. These two gave it their all in this match, even Brock going for a shooting star press(which brock didn't nail all the way and it gave him a concussion). Brock wins the WWE Title after 3 F-5s on Kurt Angle. **** The extras are not as good as I had hoped, but are still ok. Are they worth buying for DVD? I dunno, there are only like 2 extras I like on here, and that's Goldberg's Debut and WWE talking about Taker's undefeated streak. But WMXIX is pretty good, but if ya want one of the best(if not the best) WM's to watch, get WM17. It wont disappoint.

20 years well worth the wait for Hogan/McMahon,
This review is from: WWE Wrestlemania XIX (DVD)
20 years well worth the wait for Hogan/McMahonThe match that took two decades to materialize stole the show at WrestleMania XIX. Although the odds were stacked against him thanks to some outside help, Hulk Hogan pinned his longtime arch rival at SAFECO Field. Mr. McMahon and the Hulkster beat each other into a bloody match in this brutal Street Fight. The tide seemed to have swung permanently in the WWE Chairman's favor once someone from the crowd leapt into the ring. That person turned out to be none other than Rowdy Roddy Piper! Piper appeared ready to clock Vince with a steel pipe, but he instead walloped Hogan! Piper left the scene while Vince struggled to cover his fallen enemy. But somehow, Hogan managed to kick out! Not only did he regain his feet, but Hogan got even stronger! A leg drop took the wind out of Mr. McMahon and kept Hulkamania running wild. A new WWE Champion was crowned, but Brock Lesnar definitely had to sweat to earn the gold he now wears around his waist. Kurt Angle kicked out after absorbing two F-5s from Lesnar, and avoided an amazing Shooting Star Press from Lesnar that would have meant certain defeat. He only delayed his fate, though, as Lesnar gathered Angle up for an F-5 that sealed the deal. It took three attempts, but The Rock finally managed to get a win over Stone Cold Steve Austin under WrestleMania's spotlight. The Great One devastated the Texas Rattlesnake with three Rock Bottoms to achieve the one feat that remained in his career. The Undertaker improved his WrestleMania record to a perfect 11-0, but it was far from easy. Originally scheduled to take on Big Show and A-Train in a tag team match, Taker ended up in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match when his massive opponents took Nathan Jones out the equation with a vicious attack. Nevertheless, Jones managed to get himself together and help even the score by taking Big Show down with a spinning heel kick! Taker gathered up A-Train for a Tombstone piledriver to get the pinfall and stay perfect. Making his first appearance on the WrestleMania card in five years, Shawn Michaels showed he's as good as ever by defeating Chris Jericho. But it was no easy task for the Heartbreak Kid. HBK had to struggle several times to grab the ring ropes to break Y2J's Walls of Jericho. Michaels managed to put Jericho away after a quick rollup caught him off guard. Trish Stratus regained the WWE Women's Championship by pinning Victoria in a Triple Threat Match that also included Jazz. Matt Hardy, Triple H and Team Angle were each able to hold onto their respective titles. Match results

"WrestleMania" At Its Best!,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WWE Wrestlemania XIX (DVD)
This is easily one of the greatest "WrestleMania" events I've seen in its 22-and-running lineage. The Seattle crowd was always energetic (even during some poor moments). Limp Bizkit put on two spectacular performances. Plenty of pyro-technics and entrance flair were used to give each match its own 'epic feel'. And most importantly, the matches are consistently entertaining throughout. Here's the rundown:
1) Cruiserweight Championship Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy (champion) ---Mysterio enters in a Daredevil outfit, while the heavier Mattitude (Version 1.0) enters with his useless sidekick (Shannon Moore). This is a good match that the crowd is really into, but it's way too short. Eight minutes (including entrances) is not enough time to establish the Cruiserweight division's worth. Still, what's here is really good. "7.0 / 10" 2) The Undertaker vs. Big Show & A-Train ---This was supposed to be a Tag Team match, but Nathan Jones was conveniently injured. That's okay, because at "WM", Taker deserves a solo spotlight. Limp Bizkit performs their "Rollin'" track, the three giants enter, and off we go. This is actually a fairly entertaining brawl between three huge athletes. The Undertaker actually makes us believe how he could have pulled this one off alone. Nathan Jones makes a surprise appearance and delivers some wicked kicks to Big Show and A-Train. It surprises me to say it, but this match is a look. "6.0 / 10" 3) Women's Championship Trish Stratus vs. Jazz vs. Victoria (champion) ---We can usually count on "WrestleMania" to give us good Women's matches, and this is no exception. Each competitor works hard to make this one work, plus Steven Richards has a hilarious chair spot. Oh by the way, fancy entrance for Trish Stratus, which proves WWE spent a crapload of money for the entire card. "7.0 / 10" 4) WWE Tag Team Championships Los Guerreros vs. Chris Benoit & Rhyno vs. Team Angle (champions) ---Take six of the WWE's top athletes, throw them all together in Tag Team action, and what do you get? One heck of a good contest. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas (Team Angle) had a lot to prove as rookie superstars, and made believers out of us all. Eddie and Chavo (Guerreros) are always good, and so they are here, yet oddly keep the cheating to an all-time low. Chris Benoit really brings his A-game tonight, and Rhyno also makes his presence known here. This match could've been a little bit better - something's just missing here - but this is still one very good match. "7.5 / 10" 5) Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels ---First off, Shawn Michaels' usual pyro gets upgraded to confetti cannons and TWO sets of fireworks. Good Lord, the spectacle just keeps on coming. As for the match...Holy cow! What an amazing match! These two men showcase everything: breath-taking athleticism, crisp technical skills, finisher psychology, pure charisma, and never-say-die attitude. This is easily one of the greatest matches I've ever seen! There's no interference, cheating is kept to a minimum, and I'm a sucker for those false finishes. I've got nothing but praise now, but this match leaves me speechless every time I see it! "9.5 / 10" - Match Of The Year! 6) Cat Fight Tanya Salinger & Kitana Parker (Miller Lite Girls) vs. Stacy Keibler & Torrie Wilson (WWE Divas) ---Not really a match, because nobody wins and it happens on the entrance stage. yes, these ladies are superhot, but something bothers me about this (other than it's a waste of time). The World Tag Team Titles Match got pushed to a pre-broadcast "HEAT". That title bout is on the DVD, but it deserved to be on the PPV show. Anyway, gorgeous women, stupid comedy. "1.0 / 10" 7) World Heavyweight Championship Triple H (champion) vs. Booker T ---Booker T is one of the most inconsistent wrestlers I've ever seen. He can be terrifically entertaining, but boring and uninteresting during other matches. But the Houston challenger brings his A-game tonight, and proves why he can carry the gold. Triple H gets a lot of criticism for being a show-stealer; but to me, he's a WWE professional who knows how to make other guys look good. The finish is pretty weak, but otherwise it's a solid match that earns its World Heavyweight Title headline. "7.0 / 10" 8) Street Fight - 20 Years In The Making Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon ---I really don't care for this one at all. Yes, chair shots are always amusing, and Vince's ladder spot is neat. But this is merely a wannabe-Hardcore match with two geriatrics (or three if you include Roddy Piper). Does anybody really believe Hogan couldn't beat Vinnie Mac? Sadly, Hogan's worst "WM" match ever...including against Yokozuna @ "WM 9". "3.0 / 10" 9) The Rock vs. Stone Cold ---This is a tough one to call. On the one hand, I recognize that Austin and Rock are two of the greatest WWE has ever had. I realize they take superstardom to the max, and always work hard to put on a great show. However, my other hand tells me that I've seen this match before...twice! If you haven't seen any of their previous classic battles, then you're in for a real treat. However, chances are you have seen those two matches. I'm guessing most will enjoy this one, but not love it. To me, it's a passable match with a neat "ACT III" headline written all over it. "6.0 / 10" 10) WWE Championship Kurt Angle (champion) vs. Brock Lesnar ---"WM" rarely goes wrong with main events, and I'm happy to say that this is one of the best! Both men are excellent technicians, incredibly quick, and possess an undying will to win. One thing that stood out to me is that these two guys know how to make submission holds interesting to watch. They're not afraid to mix some old-school pacing with some hard slams and bumps from the new-school pages. Lesnar's shooting-star-attempt is still painful to watch, and Angle really fought his heart out to make "WrestleMania XIX" worth the four-hour running time. Congrats to both men. Oh, and more pyro goes off as the show comes to its fadeout. "8.0 / 10" OVERALL ---In addition to one of the best "WrestleMania" PPVs ever, Disc II features a plethora of extras including interviews, trailers, superstars' favorite "Mania" moments, and the hour-long teaser program "WrestleMania 3rd Degree" that aired one week before "WM XIX". My highest recommendation possible for one of the WWE's best PPVs! |
