Amazon.com Review

Proving you don't have to be a pencilneck to get a thrill out of your PC, the WWF brings us the EncycRAWpedia Volume 1 with enough footage to keep us happy until the next big slamdown. Including never-before-seen video, audio clips, screen savers, still photos, and superstar biographies, this CD-ROM puts Monday Night RAW at your fingertips like never before. Want to see Stone Cold Steve Austin take care of Vince McMahon? It's right here. Need to see the Undertaker, the Rock, or Mankind? They all warrant their own sections too. The Corporate Ministry and D-Generation-X also get their time, so get ready for a lot of pointing and clicking as they duke it out on your monitor.

Sounds and screen savers are automatically loaded into the right directories for easy access, so if you want Austin, Debra, or a galaxy of WWF stars to parade across your PC when you're away, you're just a mouse click away. You need DirectX to get the most out of the CD (don't worry, it comes with the disk), and, sadly for networkers, the EncycRAWpedia won't work on Windows NT machines. But if your computer can handle it, load it up and experience the RAW action--when you've seen what these guys go through, you'll never complain about carpal tunnel syndrome again. --Rob Lightner

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been A Lot Better, May 15, 2000

This review is from: WWF EncycRAWpedia Volume 1 (CD-ROM)
When I purchased this CD, I thought I'd be getting a great lookback at some of the WWF's greatest Raw moments. It features SteveAustin, The Rock, Undertaker, Mankind, DX, The Austin/McMahon fued, and the Corporate Ministry. While it provides a decent amount of video and sound clips, the rest of the CD seriously lacks. For example, there is a "Superstar Photo Gallery" that doesn't contain more than one image of each wrestler. If that isn't bad enough, there are only 15 personalities available! I know the WWF has more superstars than that. The "Superstar Bios" section is even worse, containing only 9 bios. The company who made this disc could have just pulled all the bios off the WWF web site and used those. Why they only chose a few is beyond me. Also included are three, yes, three "screen savers". Steve Austin, Debra, and "WWF Superstars". The Steve Austin screen saver only has 4 images of him! The Debra one has a few more, and the "WWF Superstars" saver only shows about 8 images of WWF wrestlers. Again, there are far more wrestlers in the WWF than that. I've seen better savers on the internet for free... I think the design and interface of the CD is very weak. It's just bad in some spots and confusing in others. In closing, an alright disc for the clips if you don't already have them on tape, but not much more than that. The WWF has a good track record for quality products, but I was shocked that they actually let Multimedia 2000, inc release this thing. It's VERY overpriced at $29.99. I wouldn't pay more than $9.99 for it after seeing how bare and amature looking it is. Maybe Volume 2 will be better.

Right from the opening animation this product rocks. It has got tons of cool stuff, everything from great screen savers to awesome videos of hard core WWF Action. I really like the sound bytes and the loads of high resolution shots of the WWF Stars. This is hours of fun, if you are a WWF fan this is a must have!
